Old/ugly games made more beautiful with mods

I'm kind of surprised people don't like it. It's pretty obvious that this scene in particular is not meant to look anything like the original game. I would have hoped the advanced lighting, textures etc would have been impressive in their own right - for a mod at least.

It is impressive and the lighting is great. Some people just have to bellyache.

It's not like someone killed Minecraft. They are just mods.

Wow, could you tell me what exactly is being used here? I'd love to replay it like that.

FS2OPEN and MediaVP?

Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Get the latest FS2SCP release HERE, and get the Media VPs from HERE. I'd also recommend getting the FSPort too, it ports FS1 to the nice fancier FS2SCP version of the engine. (I'd get Silent Threat: Reborn and it's voiceover pack too. Remakes the kinda crap Silent Threat expansion for FS1, makes it much, MUCH better.)

Is there a crazy update mod for GTA: San Andreas? For some reason I never finished the game BITD, and if I decide to replay it, it would be nice to have some updated graphics.

What causes the ground and walls to look wet? I don't play minecraft often so haven't seen anything like that before.
I'm sure that some blocks change there color, if they are wet even in the vanilla version.

The texture packs for Deus Ex and the Thief games are quite excellent.

For Minecraft I love the water shaders, it makes everything so much more beautiful.

I quite like the look of the Sonics unbelievable shaders mod for minecraft. Adds nice lighting which adds to the atmosphere IMO.

But normally I just use the standard texture pack

Viva Pinata? Anyway this looks pretty cool (too bad i don't really find the gameplay interesting).

Both Sonic's Unbelievable Shaders and the texture pack - Sonic recently added reflections to his shaders, but I think they require a certain map (specular?) in a texture to actually work. I'm going to see if I can dig up exactly what one he uses as it looks stunning and fits the art style well.

video showing the reflection/wetness effects. Can be controlled in texture packs along with bump mapping effects. Not entirely sure about bumpy leaves, but the wet walls look nice.
