dear god, white knight story

I need to change my pants

Yeah, the way that boob bounce sticks out, they must have hired some of the old DOA crew! :lol

More seriously... please Sony, drop the price soon so I can buy crap like this after I get a TV worth of it's goodness.

seeing the japanese R&C trailer was hysterical. Thank goodness for bluray - we can play this version just by changing the language.

Hey James (jstevenson), is spanish available too? I would love to see how Captain Quark sounds in spanish

Can anybody translate what the guy says at the end of the WKS trailer? The part where it fades to black, he starts talking, then it shows him putting on the mask.

WKS is looking phenomenal but they need to work on the in-game character models.

honestly, the game is going for incredible scale...I doubt they will improve anything in that regard...and I doubt there will be much complaints when they show us some of the creatures

He's asking for some supernatural power (太陽の王, god of the sun, something like that) to grant him power. Doesn't really reveal anything, but sounds very ominous, I guess...

At least until he busts out the cheesiest anime cliche possible, and does a "henshin". :lol

Lol more CG vs. real time skeptics, color me surprised. For as much as you guys bitch about this stuff you'd think you'd learn to differentiate between the two. It's pretty obvious what was CG and what was real time and at least half of that trailer was using the in game engine.

Square could relearn a thing or two, seems they've forgotten how much buzz you can create with a well made trailer that has some in game engine footage sprinkled with some CG. Think the prevailing sentiment on the FFXIII games is that they're more vaporware than anything atm given the supposed delays and total lack of media.

Yeah the ''Transform'' thing that they do reminded me of digimon.

Cast your brilliance into the ancient sky
Aldobear (? Dunno), the Sun King and controller of Bamvootz (? dunno)
Grant me power.
Transform
The day of awakening draws near (text that shows up at the end)

That's what it says roughly.

Agreed. Watching the WKS trailer was like watching the FFVIII trailer for the first time with that amazing orchestrated music playing.

Yeah, I think Aldobear, or Alomeiya, or whatever is a name, the other one is, I think, banbutsu 万物 (everything).

So, not really much info there as to what the story is.

I have to say, the battle system excites me more than the story in that game though.

Banbutsu would make sense.

Alomeiya/Whatever, the Sun King and ruler of all,
grant me power

Anyone know the name of the song in the trailer? Or is it WKS specific..

i was gonna ask this aswell doanyone know, also this game looks freaking epic-_- watched the trailer like 10 times already

They did say that WKS was 2007 in Japan at the PS Premiere event, so 2008 is the year of the next-gen RPG in America. Bring it on.

That was a damn good trailer. Is it too early to hope for a demo...

The music is damn good. I've always loved level 5

Sorry if this was asked before but what is the song in the WKS trailer? Something about the song reminded me of Kingdom Hearts. With that said I now claim Level 5 will make KH3 and/or a spin-off.

Oh yeah, Has Sony ever attempted to get level 5 as a first party developer? It would do them a great deal of help in Japan and maybe get us a Legend of Dragoon sequel/remake(I can dream dammit).

I think Sony own a significant amount of Level 5, but I'm not sure.

I don't think you will be seeing any other platform games from them, except non-Level 5 IPs (like DQ)

I think I've watched that trailer 20 times.

With any luck someone will have some official info about the music in the trailer, who did it, etc, or there will be a soundtrack companion to the game to buy.

But until then, for fun, I stripped the song from the trailer and uploaded it in .mp3 form. Nothing fancy, the sound quality is hardly miraculous and it still has the non-musical sounds from the trailer (including "Henshin!"). All I took out was the pure non-song stuff at the beginning and end.

There are two forms of the clip. One starts with the woman singing directly, the other keeps the "Level 5" tones right at the beginning before the music starts, because I kind of liked them.

Trailer song, with "Level 5 logo" tones.

Trailer song, no tones, straight to singing.

Factor 5? Doh. Level 5. Sorry. :lol

Looks really awesome. Sadly my computer is too stupid to play these fancypants HD videos without frequent video/audio skips. :( I wanna SD version.

ps boob physics yay.

pps hopefully this doesn't come out till 2011 so I can afford a PS3. lolololol

Last time I saw it wks was using a mission like menu to change locations-advance in the game, I hope they change this beacuse I do prefer a world map ala ff7.

world maps are , sadly, dead. I always liked them too and I'd especially love to see a full fledged giant world map now that systems have so much power, I can recall skies of arcadia with it's GIANT world and all the secrets and places it held.

White knight story does look really damn good graphically and it'll probally be atleast mildly enjoyable as an RPG but... the question that nags me is an unfortunate gafism but it's sales potential isn't very high. It kind of suprises me they'd go ahead with the project and build the game becuase going by the trailers it must be in the range of a 20 million dollar project. To merely break even on the investment the game would have to sell 650,000 copies at full price based on a 50% return on retail value. The last level 5 game hasn't even broken half a million and it's budget priced everywhere. Though I suppose the lack of any competition upon it's release will help it's cause a bit. It's not that I want to see the game fail, and perhaps it's only half that much money but it really does look like an expensive game.

I vaguely remember that this game is at least partly funded by Sony, right? So Level 5 doesn't need to worry too much about the return on investment issue.

It's actually fully funded by Sony.

FYI: They put all 3 of these trailers up on the Japanese PSN today.

Know I just have to make a Japanese account!

Guys is Tekken 5 online up in Japan? I really want to play online! Can anyone give me details?:D

Man, WKS looks phenomenal and all but, something tells me I'm going to find those "It's morphin' time!" sequences incredibly grating.

I don't expect I'll even be playing this one, precisely due to such issues. But you can't deny the artistic value on display.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. The game has fantastic pedigree, it's just that those sequences look lame as hell. Why have such beautiful fantasy setting and locales and then add that power ranger shit.

Right, because any transformation from one form to another is pulled straight out of Power Rangers, correct?

There's isn't a rolleyes big enough for this.

I finally got to see the WKS trailer. Still one of my most anticipated games, outstanding design as usual from level 5.
So I'm the only one that finds the character designs and what seems to be the story incredibly generic? Yes, it has walking cities and mecha-knights, but the details of these things look like they were pulled from an LOTR coffee table book. I really expected more from L5, considering their designs for Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy. I know this isn't cell-shaded, but it feels very flat to me. It'll probably play very well, but for someone who doesn't have a lot of time for RPGs anymore, I need more than a drab version of Escaflowne.

If you're lumping the Warhawk vid in with that, then it definitely sounds like a problem with the vids, because Warhawk during beta had a smooth framerate.
Sorry. Slight exaggeration on my behalf. I didn't see the Warhawk movie, and I also thought the LBP movie was slick smooth. But Lair, HS, Rachet (sic) and MGS 4 had framerate issues. But yeah, could be the compression or something.

Honestly, It hasn't bothered me at all in any of the screens or the trailers. If I felt like they were going to something different of the character models and failed, it would bother me. But it looks like they have purposefully set the character models a bit simple to focus on other aspects. Maybe its to make the character customizations easier for them.
