On Xbox 360's 5th birthday, how many have you been through?

I have only bought a launch 360. I sent it in once for RRoD (Mass Effect!) which they fixed up and sent back for free. Then again about 2 years later they just sent me back a refurbed 360.

So yeah:

1 Launch Pro for $299 or whatever the price was
2 Repairs for $0

While I'm on my 6th, I've only ever paid for 2 thanks to MS repairs / replacements or a warranty replacement so it doesn't bug me too badly.

Won one a year after the 360 was launched and it broke somewhere between 1 to 2 years later, at which point I bought an arcade unit. So, 2. If this one breaks I'll go buy a PS3

I went through eight. Now on my ninth. Decided to sell my working 20 gig because I could get a great deal on a kinect bundle. But yeah. Had plenty break on me.

Third one at the moment, counting two red-rings on the same console (repair did jack apparently). Thinking about repairing the first one in a shop and give it to my dad so he can play Forza.

20 GB Xenon @ May 2006 and still working!

Im in Argentina, so no warranty for me. Im lucky I guess (and only play 360/console exclusives)

Bayonetta, Reach, CV LoS, Vanquish and Fable 3 this year. I'm very happy.

I've purchased 4. The Launch unit died after 2.5 years, and then again about one year later. Stupid re-furbs. It's been trouble free since then, however, and the three I've bought since then have been trouble free.

Now that I think about it, I haven't actually taken one of those out of the box yet. Still, I'm sure it's fine. :lol

Bought a Elite in mid '07 and it died on me at the end of '08. Got it repaired by Microsoft.

I guess that means 2? Technically still on my first console.

Sold my first one to a mate cause I hadn't touched it in 6 months, then bought another one late last year.

Both are still in perfect working order.

2 But the first one still works (Got it at launch.) I was just tired of the noise and the 20gb HD. I replaced it about a year ago.

On my 3rd(thank got for extra warranty)
Original 20 gig
1 CD-rom failure after a year
Replacement RROD last christmas
Gave this one to the Brother in law when it was repaired
bought an elite last christmas

I got a 360 on launch. Lasted me until January of 2007. My 2nd once lasted me until Summer of 2008. Then my 3rd lasted me until November of 2009. Now, I've been on that one since then and so far, so good.

I'm on my third. One from a red ring, and the second from a red ring followed by being stolen.

But since Reach I'm shifting all my gaming over to the PS3. The hardware works, the online is free, and the exclusives are almost all mindblowing. It was a damn good run though.

Have fun with Kinect MS!

Finally had my 20GB Xenon die. Thought it would last forever as it seemed to have escaped the curse of the RRoD.

Alas, it was not to be. The evil lights appeared during Kinect Sports.

I don't understand the attach rate defense. I'm on my third system and have 45 games. That is 15 games per hardware purchase. What does any of that have to do with how heinous the hardware reliability is? If this were a PC situation, I'd have never continued to use faulty hardware from one company when my applications would work on something else. The number of games people own is pretty much lock in for having to get another unit. How does Halo Reach sell slower than Halo 3 if nobody is buying replacement units and they're all new customers?

I understand software development defense forces, but sticking up for shit awful hardware is just insane.

Launch unit RROD, and got it fixed up under warranty. Still going fine.

Bought a 2nd 360 as well and its going fine too. Fans are a little noisy when it starts up though but gets quiet after about 30 secs.

Believe it or not, you're not the average customer (nor am I).

You or I may have had 60 odd PS2 games... but that didn't mean the PS2s attach rate was anywhere near 60.

I'm on the same system, which I bought when Oblivion came out. However, it's been repaired twice thanks to the RROD, both under the extended warranty. It's well outside of the warranty period now, though. So the next time it dies, I'm getting a 250 gig slim model.

Incidentally, it's been freezing and behaving oddly as of late, so that time may be coming quite soon.
Follow-up: it hit RRoD today. Black Friday 5am replacement unit, get. Snagging the 250 GB bundle with Forza and Wake with a $50 gift card.
