One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 announced for PS4/PS3/PSV

sony should have made it ps4/vita, or ps4 exclusive to help boost ps4 sales.

Didnt the first sell like a million?

Yes, but the second one sold quite worse.

And Sony should be happy that there is a PS4 version at all, since it's a third party game.

Yeah, i think you are right about that.
It's still very passive for Sony.
Getting this game anyway :D

They can't do anything about it. What they can do is actually start making some games of the Japanese market instead of just popping over their western games and thinking that's going to work. It's ridiculous that the only Japanese game they've released for the PS4 is Knack. A launch title.

Good to see Musou is thriving off of One Piece. Given how often the stories present war of sorts, it's pretty fitting.

I just finished the 2nd one so I'm excited. Though, I think I'll wait a year from when it's released before I jump in. Since it usually drops in price very quickly.

I'll definitely be picking up the PS4 version if/when it's localized.

Just recently finished and platinumed the second game. It is currently my favourite musou game. All I have to say is:

The game is really fun... the best Dynasty Warrior in my opinion.

The first game did very well, but had really bad reception and hurt the sales of the second game.

Code:
[PS3] One Piece Pirate Warriors - 828,132
[PS3] One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 - 407,132
[PSV] One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 - 103,757
This is Japan retail only, no?

The game didn't have retail release outside Japan... the numbers are a bit better overall.

I bought PW2 on disc a month ago and then realised:
- There's absolutely no way to get all the DLC on EU PSN unless you buy the "complete" bundle that includes the game.
- Even then, there's two alternate costumes missing from the so-called "complete" bundle that Namco/Bandai never made available in Europe

Seriously, what the fuck, man. If you're gonna gouge people on DLC, allow people to get all of it at least.

As someone who rarely buys any DLC, and certainly not the nickel-and-dime costume stuff that anime games tend to have, it didn't bother me at all (I've got the HK/Singapore version)

I got a good 30+ hours out of the game, and that's longer than I play most games these days.

Alright! I've gotten every Pirate Warriors game so far, and none of them have disappointed. Hoping to see Gecko Moriah in this one as a playable character. He seemed like he had a full moveset in Pirate Warriors 2, I don't know why they didn't just make him playable in that.

That's not Sony's call. The best that they can do is encourage developers to put games on the PS4 in addition to the PS3. That's what they may have done with the PSP and Vita. And it worked out pretty well for them in cases like Toukiden and God Eater 2, which sold more on the Vita than the PSP.

this.
Sony can't force developers to move on PS4 esclusive, especially in Japan.
They were really smart back in the days in creating a unique (or very easy to be ported) develoment environment for all their consoels, making the port between PS3/Vita/4 very easy.. In this way, developers are pushed to try the "multiplatfrom" (but Sony exclusive) development. especially during the transition between one gen and another

This. Here's how it works, at least in Japan right now.

Japanese developers are hesitant to leave the moneytree that is the PS3, and rightfully so, since the PS4 isn't doing the best in Japan.
Sony probably suggested they put the game on the PS4 as well as the other systems.
Company agrees, gets experience with programming for the PS4 and gauges sales.
Game will probably do great on the PS4, leading to a faster move towards that system.

So crossgen isn't all that bad if it leads to more games. Plus, Koei has expressed a lot of interest in the next DW being PS4 only.

Another Musou? How many Musou games is Omega Force working on?

I don't know if OF handles ports, but they made Zelda from scratch, WOU3 is an upgraded port, as is Samurai Warriors 4, so like two new games I think.

Huh, that's quick. Would have expected them to take longer to announce this for some reason.

I wasn't too impressed with the second game so I'll just wait for this to be on sale on PS+ again. Unless you actually localize the Vita version Bamco. AND a physical release.

give me playable vivi come on do it do it do it do it do it do it

oh and yea, dressrosa characters... i guess... whatever

Your numbers are a bit off. It looks like this now as of March 31st 2014. Numbers are rounded.

Code:
[PS3] One Piece Pirate Warriors - 860,000
TOTAL: 860,000

[PS3] One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 - 445,000
[PSV] One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 - 120,000
TOTAL: 565,000

But I do agree, the second game didn't sell as well due to the reception of the first one.

(BTW, Numbers above are Japan only. OPPW sold over 1.2m worldwide quite easily)

I haven't seen past the end of Punk Hazard. Is Dressrosa even close to bring done? Will this game be out after the arc is over so they can adapt through it?

Milking this shit for everything it's worth. Good on em.

I had no desire for more One Piece Musou after the first one. Maybe I'll try the second and third someday if they're cheap.

Dressrosa close to being done? Doesn't seem like it, but I don't read the manga. Maybe near Spring 2015.

More like mid of the arc... Dressrosa will be the biggest arc in OP by a good margin.

The arc will end possible just in the next year... maybe.

Possible Dressrosa (and Punk Hazard) characters.
Fairly major spoilers

Doflamingo (obviously)
Diamante (unfolding various weapons)
Trebol (sticky stuff)
Pica (moving the earth itself
Baby 5 (she's literally made of weapons, so easy)
Senor Pink (because he's hard-boiled as hell, oh and swimming powers)
Gladius (explosions)
Monet (snow powers and flight)
Vergo (powerful Haki)

And that's just Doflamingo's crew

Admiral Fujitora/Issho (gravity powers)
Kyros (total badass swordsman)
Cavendish (swordsman with a ultra fast super form)
Bartolomeo (barrier powers, oh and Straw Hat fanboy)
Don Chinjao (strong fists and a drill head)
Sabo (fire powers + a pipe for beatdowns)
Koala (Fishman Karate master)
Caesar Clown (gas powers)

This. Vivi is still one of my favorite characters in the series, sucks that she hasn't been playable in a Pirate Warriors/Unlimited World game.

Sweet, Looking forward to it. It's funny too, cause earlier, I was thinking why haven't they announced another One Piece:PW game yet.

But yea, they need to offer all or do the arcs properly too like they did in the first one and not just do some original story that takes you to different stages, like Sky Island & Thriller Bark.

I still need to get Pirate Warriors 2 but judging from the scans this looks like it'll have another proper story mode like original (hopefully until the end of the Dressrosa Arc if it comes out in 2015)

I'd say with Bandai Namco supporting the Vita now there's a decent chance of us actually getting the Vita version in the West this time, so it'll be day one on Vita and PS4 for me.

Really happy to see this happening because I figured we wouldn't get another Pirate Warriors for awhile.
