The Iwata gif isn't an internet meme like the Kaz gif though. And yeah, there was the Iwata variant of that gif doing the rounds first, but the Kaz one represents the very beginning of the craze that this thread is addressing.

Eh, doesn't work like that. The impact of the Kaz version is lessened quite a bit by being a copycat IMO. Meme Rules. Of course, the Kaz version is more appropriate considering Iwata hadn't done shit when his version debuted, just running on fumes from DS/Wii success. Or maybe it was 3DS related? Either way it didn't reflect the state of Nintendo at that time.

i found the sheer volume of them disturbing, but there are some hilarious ones. I do remember reading on some comment section that GAF is filled with Sony shills and that the Kaz gifs were premade and ready to go when the 2/20 announcement hit to drum up hype. Yes, there are GAF-themed conspiracy theories out there.
