Why is it called PS3 blah blah, those characters are from PS2 games.

"Codemasters and EA will release a new Cricket title to coincide with the summer Ashes"

Yesss, I hope this is true.

So how much BR's does Kojima have? :D

Titles is misleading, it's actually about movies he owns that infuenced MGS. I'm pretty sure we've all read this before but here goes...

The Deer Hunter
The Bourne Trilogy
2001: A Space Odyssey
Planet of the Apes
Die Hard
Goldfinger
Full Metal Jacket
Children of Men
Predator
Dawn of the Dead
Escape from New York
Black Hawk Dawn

...

Can you guess what influence each movie made on MGS or do I have to write it out? :D

Are they talking about the codemasters game? Since Sony lost the licence and all.

It doesn't specify but I think it's safe to assume it's the Codies game. :)

Some are obvious, but some aren't. It's been awhile since I've beaten the game back in June 2008.
If you have the time..........:D

The Deer Hunter - Snakes Bandana
The Bourne Trilogy - Action Scenes, Car Chase in MGS4
2001: A Space Odyssey - Snake and Otacon named after David and Hal
Planet of the Apes - Gave him the courage to focus the story on Nuclear proliferation
Die Hard - Hide and Seek themes were a great aid in the level design when transitioning to 3D in MGS1
Goldfinger - Taught Kojima that being caught and then escaping is critical to storytelling, both for the protagonist and antagonist
Full Metal Jacket - Female Sniper Battle...Sniper Wolf...you get it
Children of Men - The constant 'war is all around you' theme was a great influence on MGS4, apparently
Predator - Jungle setting in MGS3, Camouflage in MGS3 and Octocamo in MGS4
Dawn of the Dead - Tight, small, maze like environments with air ducts, passageways was an influence on level design
Escape from New York - The lead character, what he said, how he moved, what he wore and even his name have birth to Snake
Black Hawk Down - The films colour scheme, lighting and setting were a big influence on MGS4

:D

You sire are awesome :D
Very interesting read, thanks!

But are some movies missing from the mag, like Casino Royale?

Cause I just found this pic.

Hope it's true. Hope it's there as a sign of San Andreas Story is coming I would buy both GTAs for PSP off the store, even though I already got LCS on PS2.

EDIT: Removed some stuff.

Casual gaming. Talks about PopCaps new deal with Sony specifically.

Maybe they didn't see them as relevant enough? Maybe they're not on Blu Ray yet :D (I know Casino Royale is...)

Does the Just Cause 2 preview contain any new information?

Not really. Just goes on about how big the world is, how densely filled it is and how fun chaining together two objects together is with the grappling hook 2.0. :D

Oh thought it was something better like PS1 games or a music store, anyways do they say anything interesting? Like when their next game will come to PSN?

Any new in-game pics for Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising?
That game looks unbelievable that I think they are too good to be true.

Looks so-so. Reminds me a lot of Battlefied Bad Company, visually. Nothing special imo. Doesn't live up to those first screens they released.

What was the last cricket game released released for ps3/360? All I remember was that 2007 Brian Lara one :(

Someone should type up the Destroy All Humans review. That's impressive.

And I quote..

Please start by destroying those humans responsible for this. It's arguably the worst game on PS3. The only remarkable thing is just how comprehensibly rubbish it is. If you own the first two games on PS2, play those instead - they're miles better than this.

Once again you play as Crypto, a small grey alien sent to Earth to harvest DNA and do a really bad Jack Nicholson impression (presumably because Jack Nicholson was in Mars Attacks! though not as an alien). He does this by reading minds, probing anuses, wielding ray guns, telekenetically throwing things and even body snatching innocent humans. Sounds good right? It used to be. But here, the 50p lavished on building the pastiche of 1970s America ran out long before anyone thought about the script, the missions or the AI. The shooting is wretched, the enemies are hopeless and the controls are still somehow unwieldy after all this time.

Incredibly, Destroy all Humans! runs on Unreal technology, but the super low res textures, crayon fisted architecture, and cataract like draw distances look more like something proudly stuck on a fridge with a flower shaped magnet than Unreal Tournament. There's a key early moment where the anal probe gun is ceremoniously unveiled, an it's almost heartbreaking - you're supposed to be impressed but it looks, poetically, like a dog's arse. And this technical witlessness extends into every area of concept and design. For instance, the neon sign for the Stardust Casino (your base) faces backwards over the roof, where no one could possibly read it - except you. This flickering pile of gaudy boxes is not a world. It's a balsa wood set for unloved B-movie. It should never have been released.

:D

I'll type some God of War stuff up later.

Tera Patrick? nom nom nom
I want my Veronica Zemanova game! Make it happen Sony!:lol

OMG!!! Please! Rendered at 720p widescreen with 4xMSAA and I will flip! I don't care if they reuse the PS2 textures etc...

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 - 4

WAT.

Could someone tell me why they scored it so low? (And was it the PS2 or PS3 version?)
I'd get the 360 version since I don't have a PS3 (360 arcade), but I really want to know why it got such a low score still!

What do they say about Wet?
I read a preview on Edge last month and seemed pretty interesting.

Strangehold meets Prince of Persia. Shooting is unique, can direct your dual pistols in different directions. Melee combat feels disjointed and combat doesn't really flow in the way that you expect, especially considering there is a combo system. Special moves are well animated and fun, sliding on your knees is a blast. Overall, needs polish.

umm what?

Every month they review the online modes of a specific game. In the past they've done Burnout, LBP, Fifa..pointless if you ask me. Include it with the original review. They're just filling pages.

Not playable via PS3. Brought to the store to download onto PSP, Loco Roco style.

Combat is not satisfying or fun. Environments try to be epic scale big, but are not, same with the battles. Lack of combos, soon becomes repetitive. Pop-up is apparent, AI is awful, camera fights you. More of the same really. Good or bad depending on your tastes. PS3 version btw.

Dragnet, worth picking up this issue? I'm popping down the shops to get something for my cold in a bit and wanna make more of the trudge to the shops...

If you like God of War, maybe. If you don't forget it.

Hmm... more of the same is good to me, I picked up the first for 360 about 2 weeks ago (give or take) and have already put 80+ hours into it.... :o
admitedly, I'm a mecha-maniac

Edit : I can't believe I forgot to say thank you very much! :p

No problem man :) Personally, I think the reviewer just had a distaste for the DW series and went into this with that mindset, when really, to me anyway, it's quite different to DW and a lot more fun.
