Man, I'd wish Black become as popular as Halo.

Not gonna happen in a million years :((((((((((( and yes I know it comes out on Xbox as well.

I believe it to be theorically impossible for an FPS to garner a perfect score yet lack a multiplayer mode. That's just bring me though.

24 and Marc Ecko scores are surprising, to say the least

I've read it comes out on Thursday, subscribers have got it now - Driver: Parallel Lines exclusive review & demo next month, its got another brown envelope job all over it...

will it get a 9/10 or 10/10? :lol

That 10/10 for Black has been bought and paid for by EA, for sure. Corruption of the highest order.

I don't believe the 10/10 score is correct either. On the other hand.. I don't think there's any game out there that deserves a 10/10 score :D

Ok.

Still looking forward to it. Criterion is a top flight developer and probably did more than anyone to reinvigorate the racing genre this gen. We'll see how their attempt at doing something similar to FPS' works.

Yeah, but Edge tore it a new one by all accounts, maybe Gofreak can sum up their Black preview? :D

OPM UK gave Killzone and The Getaway 10's in the past so they're hardly a reliable source for review scores. That said, I bet Black is much closer to a 10 than those 2 other games.

Killzone got a 9/10 I think?

Yes.

However I don't think you can really judge OPM-UK to be impartial about Black. Everytime I've read it the magazine seems entrenched into Criterion's pockets - they've been hyping the game for two years. They had to give it a great score.

Same for the 24 game, which they've hyped since before it's announcement. Plus it's a Sony game. Which means its probably very average.

Hey you live in the UK, go get the mag you lazy bum! :D

I really, really, REALLY want to see Killzone PSP.

It's called Killzone: Liberation :D

Not a FPS, but an action game with the same viewpoint as Metal Gear Solid.

Fixed.

w00t! BLACK will be awesome. First console FPS I've actually been looking forward to since Halo.

An exclusive review that is 10/10....

If anybody here thinks there's no money hats in there, you suck at errr.... everything!

Actually, I meant to add in saying that their 8/10s are always really dubious, and are usually much more money-hat-like than an over-active 10/10 (which there's usually a grain of truth to).

seriously, even if Black is as good as it seems, I can't comprehend how it can got 10 with the lack of MP

Gaelic Games: Football (PS2, IR Gurus): 2/10

I want to see this! :)

It's the AFL 2005 game but adapted for Gaelic Football. The AFL version is pretty horrible so they didn't have much to start with.

Wooh. Black, 24, Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus on one demodisc. Best demo ever?

Anyway, I'm picking it up next week.

Wicked.

Any more details or the mention of screenshots?

Black does look special, and as a non-FPS fan, I'm actually interested in it. But no multiplayer and dual shock controls?? :( I won't get past the 2nd level with that right analogue for aiming!

I don't care about the multipayer but it's just a plain wrong score.

I've played through 7 of the levels so far, almost done, and it surely isn't more then an 8 or 8.5 worth of gameplay.

It's all the same, every level has the same challenges, just another enviroment and some different weapons. Granted the shooting is cool, but that's about it. And it seems there is gradually LESS that can be destroyed in the game. There is a bridge level, and you can hardly destroy anything in it. Not to mention the horrible sliding enemies when they are far away to save CPU time on their animations. (you can zoom in...hence you see them sliding about anyways).

Grrr, this reviewer might have liked it a lot, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was pressure from EA.

oh....

well. this game (and I'm really looking forward to it) looks like a perfect rental.

Wait for Black : Directors Cut on X360 with a full blown multiplayer mode and updated visuals.

Don't live in denial, you know its coming.

Cool, thanks. :D

I wasn’t expecting a FPS. Glad they are expanding the Killzone universe into different genres.

Well I expected a good arcadey shooter with lots of destruction and visceral gunplay. That's what I want out of it, I just hope its not too short. How long did it take you to play through the 7 levels?

Yeah, but if its like Burnout 360, no thanks. I'd rather just wait for Black 2.

I have a sucky sense of time, plus I play on Hard because otherwhilse you can just run and gun through the entire game. I'd say about 5 hours so far or something.

But really the destruction is not all that extensive when you think about it. It's all the clouds of dust that bullets cause that's the main difference that you see what impact they have. The enemies are soooooo boring and dull!!! ARGH! Every level the same dudes who do exactly the same routines!!! hahaha

I basically drop the controller after 1 level or so now because I don't wanna play on it's too boring. First three levels are cool and the gimmick of the weapon sounds is still new.

But I have to review it so I gotta finish it at least. That OPM review is moneyhats though! :)

I'm giving it a 4/5 on our website I think eventually. I'm a tad jaded when it comes to shooters, but when I think about it I even enjoyed Mace Griffin more, so far! Much more variety.

But yeah. the sounds of the guns and the guns themselves are next-gen worthy (though perfect dark's weapons look nicer and more realistic in the end I think). All shooters from now on better have those sounds and impact particles. It's hard to jusdge this game in this way. The gameplay is dull and repetative, but shooting the guns is like it's never been done before realistic in sound and visual feedback. Bulletholes in walls are still textured 'holes' though, and pretty ugly from up close. The destruction is selective (only a few walls when it's obvious, most cover area's, vehicles explode and sniper towers, gas tanks etc.)
