But Kinect is not only for gaming. I use it for voice commands (this is huge!) and to control my media Center. Just say xbox on to turn everything on.
XBOX Mute to mute everything, xbox volume up, xbox volume down etc. this is so awesome!
and remember to calibrate it correctly!
Though the voice commands are handy if you don't have too much dashboard work to do, so that might make it worth it.
The best part of Kinect isn't the games but how it's integrated into the OS. Voice commands are fantastic, however it also does a bunch of other stuff. You can set it up to automatically turn your tv on and off with the system, it'll put the controller into a low power state when it sees you put it down, it can control your cable box etc.
The only Kinect game I play is using it to play/pause stuff in Netflix and getting annoyed when it doesn't auto sign me in when I'm wearing contact lenses instead of glasses
As a voice interface it's pretty handy though, I underrated how much I'd use the thing when I bought an Xbone
Will I benefit from this voice stuff much if I turn off my xbox completely? I put all my entertainment electronics on a power strip that gets turned off when I'm not using the system. So Xbox turn on ain't gonna happen. But will be be useful once turned on?
