Oscar Isaac (cool actor guy) Was Fired From Dante's Inferno (Video Game)

And now I remember that Dante's Inferno had you fighting a naked demonic Cleopatra that spat out minions from her boobs. Man that game.

I love how he say Oscar has "a bit part" in Star Wars.

I wonder if hes seen the trailers and posters. Maybe hes going in blind to enjoy it more. Hes gonna be so furious sitting in that theater. "What!? How many scenes is this hack in!? Fuck you JJ Abrams!"

To be fair, the trailers and posters don't actually feature him all that much. BB-8 has more scenes than him.

I only know him from A Most Violent Year. Good movie even though it's a slow burn. Also worth seeing because Jessica Chastain is in it. Never played Dante's Inferno.

I thought it was an okay game, love the concept but looking back at it now it could stand to be a bit more creative and SUBTLE

Now that's an edgy game.

well, maybe he just was a shitty voice actor, the game being bad apparently doesn't mean that isn't true

took the bait. could have been a bit more diplomatic. DI actually reviewed OK. then again i guess he might have been angry for losing the job.

both sides look bad here imo. better to take the high road unless he really feels like they did him dirty or something.

Fuck, I'm stupid. I kept reading Oscar Isaac but my mind mistook him for Jason Isaacs.
"no way, he had already a nice career at the time Dante's Inferno came out"
"Oh great, he's in Star Wars now ??"
"wut, Lucius Malfoy is Guatemalan ?... I'd never have guessed"

I've never heard of this guy before but I don't get the hate for Dante's Inferno. It was a perfectly competent God of War clone. Not really much more than that, but not bad either.

DI had an incredibile potential but a mediocre execution (and budget i think).
Sound design was top notch btw, someone at Visceral knows how to roll it (maybe same engineers of dead space?)

I thought the same. Looked nice, played well, even ran at 60fps as I recall. I had a good time with it.

Other people seem to really hate it, though.

I liked Dante's Inferno. Found it interesting to see Viceral's take on the different circles of hell. Never really understood why this was a terrible game for some (i know words like "terrible" and "horrible" have lost most of their original meaning i many cases (like "i was in traffic and got delayed 5 minutes, it was a horrible experience"), but still). I never got around to play the DLC expansion though.

Hello to Jason Isaacs!

I will say the must offensive part of Dante's Inferno was the reprints of the book with the games cover on it.

That's just in poor taste.

Is it possible he is a good actor in general but was a shitty voice actor at the time?

I'm thinking yes.

Vice versa also applies, probably moreso. Being a good actor doesn't make you a good voice actor and being a good or even great voice actor doesn't mean anyone wants you on a set. Two totally different skill sets IMO.

Game wasn't that bad, it was certainly a poor man's God of war for sure, but not a bad game. I'd level it at "decent" to "okay".

Are you kidding? He's the xwing pilot. Pretty much every time we see anything about xwings in any trailer, thats him. So he's like New Hope Luke Battle of Yavin status. Except before that he's the captured Resistance fighter, so he's also Death Star Leia status too. And BB-8 is his droid. And he's featured equally prominent to the droid on the poster.

Judging by the trailers, it seems like the first half of the movie is going to completely revolve around
his capture and rescue
.

Bit part my butt. He's clear as day a huge part of the movie. The only reason to my mind people are underselling his importance is because he's not going around on the press tour as much as Daisy and John. Neither are any of the Imperial characters actors, or even Ford to a degree, so its not like that actually means much.

This is getting pretty off topic, sorry.

What the Hell? This was a thing?

Never played DI since the gameplay didn't really look like my thing. What I'd like to see though is a video game adaptation of Paradiso. That would be a lot more challenging.

Because fuck classic literature, right?

I'm not underselling his importance, mind, and I know that he's billed as one of the three main protagonists in this trilogy. I'm just saying that if we're only going by the poster and the two long trailers, people closely couldn't really be blamed for assuming that his role is not that big. Boyega is the one with the lightsaber and Ridley has the entire introduction to herself. Isaac got a grand total of 10 seconds in the trailer and his picture is smaller than Ford on the poster.

That's because you can't really show his part without spoiling the movie's plot and its beginning.

I understand that. I'm not criticizing the decision, mind. I just find the "he must not have seen the trailer and poster if he didn't know Oscar Isaac plays a big role" sentiment somewhat weird.

I mean, of course the role of A New Hope's Leia and Luke combined would be pretty significant at least, but how could anybody know that from a brief footage of him screaming and walking away from an X-Wing?

He could have at least take a look at the poster's billing:

STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS

Harrison Ford * Carrie Fisher * Mark Hamill
Daisy Ridley * John Boyega * Oscar Isaac

etc, etc. I think to be listed after the other actors like that suggests it's anything but bit role. A bit role would be someone like Keira Knightley's role in the prequel trilogy.
