:lol at Lair, but WTF at WarHawk. I have played the beta a lot with a friend who got in and that game is amazing. I am buying it no matter what they say.

Cue that one guy trolling the Bioshock threads after Gamespot gave it a 9.0, saying he would now pick up Warhawk instead.

Uhhh gameplay should be factored in there somewhere.

Sound 10/10 Graphics 9/10 Love it or Hate it Gameplay 6/10

Not sure how it could get a 5. I think Gamepro is right and Play mag is too high.

They didn't even play Warhawk against actual people online. They just played games against each other which is retarded. Also, their complaint was the price and lack of bots. It's just retarded when you think about it. If I played Unreal Tournament 2004 for the first time and only played 5 hours, I'd probably be complaining about how difficult it is to kill people but after actually experiencing the game and improving, my tune would change. Warhawk isn't a pick up and play game like Crazy Taxi or something. You need to get better at it and the better you get, the better the experience is going to be. Don't knock a game for being difficult. Warhawk is an online only title so why the hell would they make it easy as hell. Zero depth means it'll get pretty tiresome pretty quick and I'm sure they want it to have legs. Complaining about a $60 price point is stupid considering you can download the game for half that.

Don't know about Lair, though. I'm guessing they didn't play it too much but I'd bet my left nut that Warhawk is a quality game. Lair, I'm on the fence about.

cue 'but PSM was a rubbish mag anyway' posts.

Well, to be honest, they ran some shifty articles in the recent past iirc... Honestly, maybe I can see LAIR getting those scores... but, Warhawk, I have never seen the vast majority of the beta players lusting to play it more, and, frantically trying to get as many others involved as possible as well... I'm gonna call out PSM on that one...

Lets review gaming publications...

PSM first.... 5.8

They loose a few points for only being available at magazine stands. Also their paper isnt very good.

The Beta was the full game as well, it's not like 3000 beta testers got a partial look at the game. This reviewer is a rarity.

Irony? The game is 40$.

I meant in stores. This thing shouldn't go over 30 on download. Even less 'cause i don't see that a real higher value than say, Tekken.

I'd tolerate a 40$/30$ combo but the more i think about it the more reasonnability would tell a 30$/20$ combo.

Anyways, i'm not buying. (Yup. Voting with my wallet!)

Well, Warhawk pricing actually blows. This should have been 40$ top. It's a freaking online game with multiplayer only. I mean, common.

As Wollan said...it IS $40. Hence the fact that their opinions are no longer valid.

Warhawk is just over priced for what you get. If it was $30 it would be a 8.5 game. I was also in the beta.

Really? 10 dollars is worth 2 points from you? That's worse than the 1up guy dropping it a whole 1 point.

Not surprised at Lair, kind of happy really considering the retarded comments Eggebrecht had about HDMI being necessary to run such a game.

Disappointed at Warhawk though, it seemed like a pretty good idea and what I saw on the 1up show looked pretty fun.

I loved the hell out of the Warhawk beta, so the score isn't very meaningful to me. I can easily see that it's going to have some ppl who go into it with no preconceptions or agendas and still really not like the gameplay though, so I'm not terribly fussed by a poor review for it. The conspiracy stuff thrown up about PSU is pretty embarrassing, come on guys. ;)

Everyone who beta tested it said it was really good but when one reviewer says it sucks, it somehow negates everyone else's comments?

I'm still planning on playing both these games, but I'm not quite as excited. How can a dragon game be bad? More importantly, how come every dragon game is bad?

30/20???? WTF? Lets forget the fact that this is a new game unlike Tekken, forget the fact that it's much, much more fun, the fact that it includes a decent bluetooth headset, and also the fact that is a NEW game (i know, thats twice). The people that say they would buy it for 30 but not for 40 are really reaching. Go play Shadowrun.

You gotta remember, alot of these reviewers
and GAFers
are stuck in the gaming stone ages where someone would actually complain about bots in a multiplayer only game. They review it like you should get some kind of enjoyment out of it playing alone.

I'll be happy once games are either single player only or multiplayer only. Then we can rate games for what they are
and we can dredge through another 20 years as reviewers still rate multi-only games as lesser than their single player only counterparts
. Developers can concentrate on what they do best, and everyone gets what they want.

Single player only Bioshock please. Thanks.

Multiplayer only Halo please. Thanks.

To me, having shitty paper is worse than shitty editorial work. Play has the best paper. It's holy shit good. I like the feel of EGM's cover the most out of any magazine. Has a nice, gritty feel on your finger tips. I love GI's nice, big pages. Fuck Gamepro.

How did you know I was reading this thread?

Also, I feel fine. I'll wait for more reviews. Anyone feel like setting up a big Warhawk game-sharing group so we can get uncertain gamers interested in it?

Have you seen a dragon Movie? Eragon. Dungeons and Dragons.

:lol

The same PSM that said the PS3 was 100% for sure coming out at $399. I'm ashamed I subscribe to this magazine.

Also, I'd like to add to the ongoing review of PSM in this thread and score it a 2.0 because it costs $5.99 per issue on news stands.

"Much more fun" isn't a reason to increase pricing because it's totally subjective.

If Tekken would have seen it's first release right now and as it is, it wouldn't have retail higher than 20$. Tekken is a full game of extremely good value. I'm not even a fighting game fan and i can tell you it's actually worth more than 20$.
Warhawk is a new game but since it's not a full game (imo), the increase in price (because it's new) minus the fact it's just a small game pretty much equals the price of a full game but an older one.

I also said i'd tolerate a 40$/30$ combo. Anyways, feel free to not see the value in a game the same way i do...

Hey, I'd love to try Warhawk. :D I never played the beta. I've got some games I'd be willing to share in exchange. (Flow, Rub a Dub, Super Stardust HD & that puzzle game) I doubt I'll get an invite since I'm your arch nemesis. :lol

Could you also inform him that a quality BT headset is apart of the deal?

Damn. While Warhawk is by no means perfect and has its flaws, and it's a tad overpriced (it should've been $30 downloadable), it should at the very lowest get a 7.5.

Lair... I dunno. 9 from Play, 8 from PSW, 7.5 from GamePro, 6.0/5.5/5.0 from EGM, and now a 5 from PSM. WTF? Judging from previews, videos, and the like I would have thought it would get solid 8s all around. But 5s? That's seriously messed up.

Doesn't really bother me since I wasn't buying either game anyways.
Now if Heavenly Sword and Uncharted turn out like turds then its gonna start to get bad.

:-)

$20? thats way, way, way too much for Warhawk

lol.

Warhawk will be less fun now since PSM gave it such low scores. I rate it down to 98%.

:D

Well, we thought Lair would be fairly mediocre and nothing too special with the reviews we've seen and the pedigree the game has due to its developer. The surprise here is Warhawk... but I'd definitely need to read some more impressions.

I'm not worried about it because the chief editor used to be xbot's chief editor. They have all kind of agendas set up by money hat MS.

Just think of how Ron Paul censored out in all of mainstream medias.

Wow...

Hey guys... at least Heavenly Sword will be awesome. Right? :D
(At least there's no chance for surprise from Insomniac and R&C 'cause they're proven at producing awesomeness.)

Lair is avg at best and Warhawk is a great game. Not sure how it could look bad if anything were to happen with Uncharted/HS.

HS has been getting 9s, a few 10s, and a couple 8s. (IMO its not a 10)
