OutRun Online Arcade announced (PSN/XBLA)

This is awesome. Sega's arcade games make perfect downloadable games for around $10-$15 a pop. Great to see the Outrun franchise back.

I wonder though how different it will be from Outrun 2. The visuals look almost the same, though I'm seeing some new backgrounds/tracks. I just played through Outrun 2 very extensively on Xbox recently, so I'm hoping for something more fresh.

I literally shouted out "what the fuck!?" when I saw this thread.

I've been praying for a HD port of Outrun Coast 2 Coast for years, and hopefully this turns out to be it (if not better.)

Cool. I'll buy it a third time. Why not.

Now I just need Panzer Dragoon Orta and Street Fighter 3 ports and I can officially sell off my entire remaining Xbox1 collection.

Be interesting to see how much they charge for this, but either way, I can't wait.

Hopefully it is using OutRun 2 as the base, rather than the inferior Coast2Coast.

GRiD is greatness. Get out of here w/ that. Have you played it? The PC version is my most played game shit year I think.

I wish I wouldn't have played it but I did. I was expecting it to be a follower of the TOCA seires and it ended up completely different. I really really didn't like it.

This shit needs to STOP!

Anyways, let's hope this is a testbed for further Sega racer remakes. Licensing issues aside, I would gladly trade a case of Okanagan icewine for online Daytona on Live/PSN.

Sumo Digital is a great developer. Virtua Tennis 3 360 version and Sega Tennis were both really good. It's nice to see a developer that actually cares about Sega IP, even if it is a European one, because god knows Sega Japan doesn't give a shit.

Hopefully this is just testing the water for something bigger. Getting a model 3 emulator going would open the floodgates for Sega Rally 2, Daytona 2, Scud Race etc. Wanna see that happen so bad.

I'm very happy this is OutRun SP (or C2C whatever they call it here). Sucks they aren't using the Chihiro code but rather the flawed PC code, but it's ok. The code exists, its easier and cheaper this way, so all the power to them. Will purchase day 1.

Did you know that Steam has Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast for, like, $9.99?

I'd rather have it on my huge living room rig with surround and big LCD for 9.99. Not everyone has an amazing PC setup (mine PC is right next to my moms room and has a 23" or so display... it sucks).

That's what alot of PC warriors can never get through their heads, alot of gamers don't have this luxury.

I don't think that some originality will hurt anyone, at this rate we will play HD² pong and pacman again the next-next gen. Sure if people want this again and again, awesome!

I'm in heaven ! I was waiting such a release ! Day one purchase for me.

Now SEGA, please release "Sonic 2 HD Remix", "Virtua Racing Arcade Online", "Daytona USA Arcade Online", "Scud Race Arcade Online", "SEGA Touring Car Arcade Online"...

LOL!

Uh, you don't even need a powerful PC to run it -- and you could just connect your PC's VGA or DVI connection to an HDTV.

PC version has broken scoreboards and no online.

LOL - you are joking, right? :lol :lol :lol SEGA Rally is unplayable with pad and even with wheel its just not SEGA Rally.

wow. WOW. you are 10,000% wrong. seriously, sorry. there is nothing unplayable about Revo.

truly a sad state of affairs we have on our hands. fuck. such an unfortunate misunderstanding.

Looks identical to the PC version at 720p. They should go for 1080p, since the system requirements are very low for 60fps. Both 360 and PS3 would breeze through it.

Wow! This looks great. I didn't think Sega would ever release anything on XBLA that didn't involve Backbone and include shitty filtered sprites.

Those screens are bad, but hey it's still an improvement.

This appears to be a digital-download version of OutRun 2006. I'll buy this, but only so Sega finally gets the message that camineet is spouting.

I want a digital download version of Daytona USA 2. Most of the Daytona 2 machines near me either aren't calibrated properly, have fourth gear broken on the stick shift (won't register properly) and/or have a steering wheel that's held on with a piece of string.

Sega Super GT/Scud Race may not happen with EA hogging the Porsche license and Chrysler about to go under, making getting the Viper license a potential logistical nightmare.

Someone from Sumo Digital posts here, no? He should get to talking in this thread, I have questions that need answering.

The background texture is lousy. Only the cars look good.

I wish they charge $15 for it and make the game bigger/better. Like Wipeout HD quality.

It's a shame that SEGA's best contribution to gaming these days are HD remakes of old titles?

But I'd be more than happy to take HD remakes of their best games than what they come up with now.

Looks allot like Coast to Coast which released on a ton of systems a few years back. Thats a good thing though,no more having to do through my collection just to play it now, having it on a hard drive is much better. Plus the online vs. games never really had many people on them to be honest. Maybe with it going to PSN and being rereleased over Live it'll gain a wider audience so we can play more VS. games now.
I haven't read every page of this thread but has there been any further news about online play? It'd be nice if Sega took all the mini games and allowed us to compete in them in online vs. matches. And I'm already thinking this game will be $15.00 at the very least. There is so much game to be had here really,I'll tripple dip and buy it again, already have both XBox versions so why not buy it once more?

Its amazing how they took a game that released on DVD and have managed to squeeze it into PSN and Live downloads now. Hopefully the audio won't be too compressed, the music from the game was always a favorite of mine.

Up next....
Daytona U.S.A.,SuperGT, Virtua Racing,Harley Davidson...bring them on SEGA.
Super GT and Virtua Racing are the two that I'd fucking cut my balls off for.

They've made Valkyria, RGG (although that started last gen) and are publishing Platinum Games upcoming titles. So Sega has been looking really good as of late.
