Overwatch Season 2 has begun

Crossposting it here as well:

My friends probably only have time for ranked on the Weekends for Season 2.
So if anyone wants to climb the ladder with me in a more serious way on PC or a group still having a spare slot, just add me.

I strongly prefer to play with people in comp with voice chat.

I'm very confident in playing these chars:
- Soldier 76
- Junkrat
- D.Va
- Winston
- Lucio

Less so, but still good with:
- McCree
- Pharah
- Tracer
- Hanzo (still have to adapt to the changes)
- Roadhog
- Zenyatta

Not really good, not really bad with:
- Genji
- Reaper
- Bastion
- Zarya
- Mercy

Scrub tier:
- Mei
- Torb
- Widowmaker
- Reinhardt
- Ana
- Symmetra

Season One didn't go too good for me mainly due to playing solo Q after my placement matches which tanked my rank to 43 but in the last week I got back up to 50.

Is Eichenwalde in the competitive map pool? I completed like 12 matches and didn't play on it once.

I like the hero changes so far. Every support hero seems viable now.

How is Zenyatta now, in terms of dealing damage himself? He kind of felt the same to me before and after his buff, but is he noticeably better or worse with this current patch?

Also, Ana finally clicked with me last night when I remembered that her grenade hurts the opponent and didn't just prevent healing.

you can't imagine how happy i'm to see people giving up on Genji, thank you, Overwatch is a better game now
Genji's OPness was exaggerated imo, just reducing his ult duration would have been enough. The nerf to discord orb is the thing which is gonna improve the game the most I think.

Not sure who I'm gonna play in placements though since Zen and Genji were my 2 most played characters recently haha

Ha tell that to players like Seagull.

The orb of discord was nerfed but his normal attack buffed so the damage dealt to debuffed enemies from Zen himself is the same.

With the projectile size revert, hitting headshots is even easier than last patch. Also blizzard kept his damage the same despite the discord nerf. So I'd say he is better than ever.

Mercy's res continues to be the lamest shit in the game.

Put a cast timer on it, Jesus.

They did once, saw it didn't work and reverted it.

Broken aimassist is fixed on console btw.

How it was: https://gfycat.com/HeavenlyHomelyGander

Don't play on consoles, but this is great news. It was extra silly.
Anyone tried against jumping targets yet?

How did it not work? I'm not asking for a 5 second res, just something an opponent can know they can interrupt. I've said before Mercy should have to stay alive until her ressed people are actually in control of their characters. I fail to see how that is unreasonable.

I remember Seagull mentioning multiple times that Genji pre-nerf was not OP in high-level competitive play, since the other team knew how to counter him.

The issue is with solo queueing / playing in pubs that he was quite overpowered since it is difficult to stop him if the enemy team doesn't work together and communicate with each other to neutralise him. His ult could easily take out the complete enemy team in pubs.

I think he's still a pretty good pick, but will be less of an obvious choice now. To me it looks like Hanzo got the biggest buff.

It took something like 2~3 seconds to match with her animation/phrase. I can't find all of the complaints on it because it happened on the closed beta and those posts are gone or something, but I remember people complaining about losing 2 seconds to ress people (sometimes teammates would respawn between pressing Q and the ress being applied) and how simply pushing her away would make her burn her ult.

So Blizz reverted it saying they weren't fully satisfied with the change. And given that they recently gave Mercy a refill on guardian angel after ulting exactly to she's able to glide in > res > glide out, seems like putting a delay again isn't on their plans.

And they nerfed his ult. What doesn't make sense is why they would nerf his mobility significantly.

This sounds like a very good patch! Although, I don't know what to think about Genji's reset after wall running, it's probably for the better, but I'm indifferent until I try it out.

4 losses so far, so many brainless players and leavers.
gonna give it a week before considering playing again. I wish there was solo q, always pairing solo vs groups.

Sweet, thanks. Zenyatta is my favourite, but even I thought the last patch made him a bit too good in terms of being a character who can benefit every character on the team at once.

First match - My internet screwed up, got disconnected my placement is counted as a loss.

Second match - Nearly reached our 3rd win on KOTH then one of the enemy player left the game which im sure although my team won but guranteed it will affect the ratings.

Third match - Close match but we couldn't push into the final point.

Fourth match - Streamrolled the enemy team, they couldn't even push to the first point.

So its 2 wins and 2 losses for now but I have a feeling I won't get gold at all due to the first match being counted as a loss due to disconnect.

It should not afaik.

Genji is still amazing and has so much potential. The only thing I'm salty about is the tripple jump nerf. because sometimes the wallrun bugs out and does a double jump before wallrunning. With the old genji you were always sure you had a jump after wallrun, now you don't anymore.

I hope you cry babies are happy with the nerfs cuz I'm still going to shit on you in ranked, expect me.

Genji was a character with most theoretical potential IMO. Yes most genji players wouldn't have reached that theoretical maximum but damn the ones who did could have been the only player in the entire team and still won. This character just fucking broke quickplay (genji can be taken down with team effort chich rarely exists in the quickplay soloq space). Genji is one of those characters that actively makes the game worse for me in terms of enjoyment. I see that the enemy has a Genji and I'm like "oh fuck this". Now I can actually go at him with Junkrat since he can't dash through his traps anymore.

Yep, this nerf didn't make him a bad character. He's still good if you can play him. He's just not THE FUCKING BEST anymore. And yes I'm so fucking happy with the nerfs. Doesn't matter if you shit on me in ranked, you won't shit on me as bad as before.

Nice to see Blizzard actually being ahead of schedule on pushing updates. Capcom could learn a thing or two for sure. It was really needed since quick play is such an unfun mess most of the time. Hopefully they'll have some sort of off-season competitive play after S2 if only to avoid the hero stacking antics in quick play.

Talking from the perspective of a console player, I'm really looking forward to the Genji nerf. I can understand why people may be a bit annoyed since he's quite a high skill character to use and people should be rewarded for their extra effort, but speaking from a console perspective, he was always a bit BS due to his absurd mobility making him tough to hit - especially with analog stick aiming, his long window of nigh-invincibility from deflect and his ability to disengage from any disadvantageous fight due to his wall climb and dash. The game being out a while has given people the chance to get good enough with him that he was becoming a real problem, which his popularity for being a cyborg ninja amplified tenfold. That's not even mentioning his ult which was basically a free almost-team wipe for anyone familiar with the character if the enemy team was doing what they should do and sticking together.

This is only theorycrafting, but I can imagine Mercy becoming an issue with this update. Being back to her old levels of healing combined with Genji being less able to assassinate her will probably make her a real pain to deal with on maps like King's Row defense. Pharah is still going to get shot down trying to get at her and Tracer can't get through chokepoints Genji.

I'm anxiously awaiting words of a Lucio nerf because that character has been bullshit on KotH for way too long now. Not really sure what they could implement without ruining him though. He just seems like a flawed character premise because of how easy it is to rack up healing over 10k just by being there and not dying. Lowering his self-heal would probably be a good start.

Symmetra also needs to be reworked or taken out of the support category, because she has no place there. If they made it so she could give allies shields by channelling similar to Mercy with her E/R1/RB ability, that would maybe do something for her, but again, theorycrafting.

Zen is still super strong, trust me.
