Perfect.

Why do they wrestle all the time instead of just shooting the monsters? And when they wrestle and get beat up for 10 min and then save the day by shooting the monster, why not just shoot the monster to begin with?

I know right? It's like the first movie never explain it in the first 10 minutes.

From what I recall in the movie, their main projectile weapon needed a charge up time and so they needed to be very strategic about when they used it. They also tended to fire from point blank range for a guaranteed shot. If they were to fire from further away they would more likely miss the critical area in which they need to hit or the Kaiju would be too quick and evade. Plus it would be a boring movie if they just shot at the Kaiju instead of wrestling it out.

YES!

A few longer, uninterupted and clearer shot fights this time and I'll be in heaven. 30 min final fight as climax. All punching, no talking, Fury Road-style.
And remember to use your goddamn sword(s) before you get nearly killed this time.

Holy Shit, this is a hell of a day. I just watched Pacific Rim last night for like the tenth time, woke up to see the new Superman vs Batman trailer that was actually good, Then saw the Suicide Squad and Deadpool trailers, and now I found this thread for Pacific Rim 2. Happy Sunday!!!

I love the first PR, one of my favorite movies of 2013, hell I don't even mind the cheesy acting and dialogue! Bring it Del Toro.

Will we see a Canadian Jageur?

I'm going to guess that we're going to see another China and Russian Jageur and this time they won't die in 1 minute.

They really need to delve more into the war stories.

THE MARK-3Â’s

Gipsy Danger (USA)
Shaolin Rogue (CHN)
Matador Fury (MEX)
Vulcan Specter (AUS)
Chrome Brutus (CAN)

When is the next time you're willing to reveal another duo of Pilots? My body yearns for the pilots of Chrome Brutus *Sobs*

YouÂ’re in luck. Chrome Brutus was driven by Ilisapie Flint and Zeke Amarok. TheyÂ’re cousins.

Super curious since you revealed Chrome Brutus' pilots' names but are they Inuit?? It would be amazingly awesome if they were! (PS thank you for helping create such an amazing movie and for answering fan questions!!)

Yes, they are of Inuit descent. Ilisapie started out as a helicopter pilot on Brawler YukonÂ’s spotter team. She wanted to try for her own Jaeger, so she talked her cousin Zeke into joining up with her. He was a spelunker.

I love PacRim, it's my favorite movie ever! I watched it the opnening day and then 9 more times at the movies theater (invited friends, family, even my ex, lol) and I bought all the NECA figures giving no quater to my wallet. I will do it again!
From reading Wikipedia about PR...wait a minute....Legendary is considering a Godzilla and Pacific Rim crossover?? How serious is this news??
Legendary said it depends on how both movies were doing (that was before Pacific Rim 2 was confirmed). So they will probably try to push that idea harder after PacRim 2.

I insist american jaegers should not be main characters because America let the movie die and it was up to the rest of the world to save it for a sequel. Give the spotlight to China, Korea, Japan, Russia and Mexico :)

So what aliens make another rift in the pacific again?
Humans basically stopped their planet conquering factory while leaving traces of the technology they used to do that behind, so yeah time to fight humans again with hybrid Kaiju-Jaegers. (I don't know how any part of Gypsy Danger could have survived the blast, much less how any part containing anything useful)

Edit: They will probably come from space now

yessssssssssssss

Also, lots of rumors that Charlie Hunnam has declined to come back, so Raleigh may not be in PR2 -- making Mako the main character.

I agree, would love it if they'd focus on the other Jaeger teams more.

And rebuilt this one and give it a glorious fight

Love the design of Tacit Ronin so much.

Ha, I just saw the first movie. It was cheesy, but I loved it. As close to live action Eva as it gets. The dialogue needs work though. I think Mako spoke only one line when she was in the jaeger.

Good fun. I know it's not really important for this type of action enjoyment, but is it even possible that perhaps maybe there could be an acceptable story this time? Maybe with some humans that aren't more robotic than the mechs?

First fight is going to have a jaeger with a sword that gets it's arm cut off, or one of the Kaiju's special is a powerful sort of claw that snaps it in half, or some more saliva stuff that melts :P

Just to fuck with everyone who moaned about it!

Hope they replace every actor from the first film.

The casting was so batshit terrible and ruined the movie for me.

I liked the Australians. :( (Although I suppose they didn't sound Australian at all to native speakers, but it worked for me). The Russians were cool too as background characters (I don't think they said more than two sentences in the whole movie).
The two scientists were a bit too goofy, but funny enough. Not sure about Ron Perlman...

Anyway, I loved the first movie. Not sure a sequel/prequel was necessary, but I'll certainly go watch it. :)

There was a lot I loved about the first movie. Pacing was a bit all over the place, but I ultimately loved how genuine a lot of it felt; the action scenes were perfect, the sets and world design were great, and the overall concept felt like a big love letter to mecha-anime. I loved how it was the antithesis to a lot of western blockbusters: Instead of focusing only on the peripheral, ground floor disaster angle, it really honed in on the main characters and, mainly, the giant fucking robots.

Definitely wasn't perfect and I had a lot of issues with it, but like with Hellboy (shaky first movie with a good world and characters) I'm willing to give a sequel a shot, mainly because Hellboy 2 was really awesome.

Although, mainly I just want to see robots fighting robots, instead of robots fighting monsters. Do it Del Toro!

I hope we get a transforming/combining Jaeger of some sort this time around.

Like the rocket punch, it is too much a staple of mecha to be ignored.

Disappointed with the first one.
Main character snd story were too sucky.

Idris Elba should have been the main character but Hollywood.
