Fill me in a bit. Is this a massive nod to the Godzilla films or a massive rip of it? Trailer looked goddamn awesome.
That's what I thought. It's not possible guys.
NOT. POSSIBLE.
are you seriously questioning the validity a 200ft tall robot swinging an oil tanker at a 300 ft monster, that came from a dimensional portal underneath the Pacific ocean?
Tribute.
Interesting.
“It is my duty to commit to film the finest fucking monsters ever committed to screen and it is my duty to create the greatest fucking robots ever committed to screen.”
You'll probably get a lot of flack for this (and seemingly already have), but that was honestly the first thing I thought too.I think this exceeds my credible suspension of disbelief especially since the tone of the trailer seems to be going for a realistic take. The thing that got me was swinging that ship. Ships do not have an internal structure strong enough to support their own weight in a cantilever configuration. I mean I am ok with the giant robots since that is the central conceit of the movie, but the ship as a bat was too much.
Am I being neurotic?
Am I the only one who thinks that the ship isn't a tanker? Tankers are huge.

damn, this movie is gonna bomb big time.
also dude some of these Kaijus
that's straight up Rodan, not even an imitation or tribute
god damn
God, I hope they don't pull an Independence Day and only show the Americans winning or using their mech properly. I want to see joint tactics.
I dont think so
people who dont appreciate the source materials this is clearly inspired from will still pay a ticket to see this kind of big hollywood 3D ride
the budget probably is between 120-200 million range... doubt this makes it back.

I don't know it, there are also giant robots that would need immense amounts of power to move controlled in parallel by two pilots fighting aliens that arose from the depths of the ocean.I think this exceeds my credible suspension of disbelief especially since the tone of the trailer seems to be going for a realistic take. Adult Power Rangers?
Looks great. They should have shown some of that in the first trailer which sucked and gave the film no buzz at all
And it's coming out so soon too. Bad job marketing this
I don't usually say literally... but I LITERALLY YELLED "WOOOO" when da giant robot held an oil tanker.... My gawd. My goodness gracious.
Same. I also woo'ed when Ron Pearlman appeared
This movie will easily do $500mil WW at least.
Just needs that marketing, but, and it kinda pains me to say this, but money is money, it will get a huge chunk of the transformers crowd, which got the last TF film over a billion.
I really hope it does do well. I want an Eva movie.

This is not the greatest movie in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
