Why would anyone think this is going to bomb? Because it's not a sequel or based on a comic book? In that case Avatar should have bombed.

All of the scenes with humans look horribly cheesy. Just give me a version with the giant mechs fighting the monsters!

This movie will easily do $500mil WW at least.

Just needs that marketing, but, and it kinda pains me to say this, but money is money, it will get a huge chunk of the transformers crowd, which got the last TF film over a billion.

I really hope it does do well. I want an Eva movie.

It has the potential to be the biggest Del Toro box office success, I really hope it makes great numbers.

Del Toro will still be making movies, he acts as producer in lots of movies on the side :D

You'll probably get a lot of flack for this (and seemingly already have), but that was honestly the first thing I thought too.

Are you an engineer too?

To explain myself, I am ok with unrealistic things being unrealistic, perfectly fine for my normal suspension of disbelief. The problem comes for me when you depict real things behaving in impossible ways. Also I am probably neurotic about random engineering details in movies.

I laughed at loud when the mecha was dragging a fucking tanker through the street and then smashed the monster in the head with it. If that's the kind of action I can expect from the movie, I'm definitely in. That single shot is going to be just as iconic for Pacific Rim as the exploding White House was for Independence Day. Day one!

I wasn't looking forward to this, but now?...

Also, that is one sturdy ship.

Wow, this has done it for me. I am seeing this. And I trust del Toro to do justice to these trailers, or at least to not make a Bay-style abomination.

And I'm glad to see the pilots are actually inside the robot rather than a long-distance link, which was my takeway from the first trailer.

Ah man, oh man, ah man. This looks even better the more I see of it. My Dad saw this and got super stoked when he saw the release date. (his birthday) So that makes two more for Day 1.

Are people seriously ripping apart the movie about goddamn robots fighting goddamn sea monsters for using a boat like a bat?

Fuck off.

You will enjoy nothing in life and die unhappy.

This movie should end by fading out to a thought bubble over Charlie Day's daydreaming head, and then Del Toro jumps into the frame and yells "WILD CARD".

Awesome.

so much better than the previous tease we got

Awesome. Bashing a monster with a fucking tanker, amazing.

Hoping this prints money, so someone will decide to let Peter Jackson and co. make a serious Evangelion movie, with all the fucked up Evangelion things.

the mech designs are ugly.. got that transformer shit look
The Mechs have a realistic look to me. They look like what a mech would look like if we built one in the next 20 years.

I don't like slick and sexy mechs, that shit can stay in anime. If i am going to watch a "live-action" mech movie i want them to look dirty, ugly and gritty.

This looks so goddamn beautiful. I will be there, Day 0, at midnight, in front of the biggest damn IMAX screen I can get myself in front of.

But yeah, this movie definitely made me wonder just how amazing an actual Evangelion movie would be.
Pretty dreadful, I'd imagine. I shudder to think of the changes Hollywood would make. No doubt the first thing they'd do would be age up the kids and proceed to completely miss the point of the story.
