The development of the early, previous live action version wasn't looking too hot. But I have hope one day Anno will have enough balls and cash to try and make one.

It does look like a lot of fun. Much better than the first trailer. WB better get this marketing blitz going and not Jack the Giant Slayer it up.

This trailer or some version of it needs to be played in front of another big film. They need to do it fast.
 
I'd imagine it would be shown with Man of Steel. Warner can't be so daft as to not show it right before the main feature presentation.

Honest to god, it wouldn't surprise me if they were almost strong enough in real-life. When I started working on aircraft, it was pretty surprising to me that the thin-ass wings of an F-16 support so much. It weighs tens of thousands of pounds, and when pulling 9Gs, those tens of thousands of pounds... go into the hundreds of thousands of pounds. And if that weren't mind-blowing enough, those wings? They aren't part of the superstructure, they detach. They are held in with a bunch of bolts. Engineering is serious shit.

So a ginourmous tanker, which has to be built with a massive amount of rigidity to not break itself over the waves? I could just about believe it. As others said, even if not, it's in the future where they have discovered the metals the mechs are made of, so anything is possible.

This is one of those movies where the audience will be cheering the characters along like in a sports event. Can't wait for the reactions when people see the Jager pick up that ship and lay down some justice with it.

WB did nail it with the release date. Grown Ups 2 is the only other semi big film opening that week and it targets a completely different audience.

I just got the Wonder Con footage in front of a Clapton song on YouTube as an ad. I figured I had two and a half minutes to spare to watch it again. :lol
 
Is this movie, Giant mech beat the crap out of giant monster with Super tanker as baseball bat.

I can't fucking believe I'm actually saying this.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the CGI from a technical perspective. Seems it's not made out to look completely realistic, sort of like Speed Racer. The strangely colorful lighting at night gives it a cartoonish look. It doesn't go all the way like SR though, so it's stuck in the middle of the road of looking off. This movie is definitely never going to look "real".

Maybe Xia can elucidate now that he's not at ILM anymore. :P

Personally I feel that image is of
either Charlie Day or one of the other scientists cutting open and exploring one of the dead creatures. You know since he said "You have to get to know them" and all.
 
I know I read a spoiler about movie regarding the Kaijus but it's been so long I forgot what was the spoiler, good shit. I'm glad I forgot.

Anyone annoyed at that stereotypical "disheveled, over-passionate, science nerd who snarkishly summarizes things for the dumb military guys in plain english" guy?
 
It's weird to me that I've been hearing for years how a lot of this was "shot" in Toronto but it hardly matters, such an effects heavy film.
 
...Yeah, this movie just jumped all over every other movie I'm seeing this summer and beat them with a club made out of a ship. Feels like my inner child found out what else his penis can do.
