Easter is here and EA’s ‘Battlefield Hardline’ (-40%) makes it three weeks out of three at the Top, with a surging ‘GTA V’ (+35%) up 2 to No2.

Sony’s big new PS4 release last week ‘Bloodborne’ by From Software (-55%) drops 1 place to No3 and there are plenty of Easter deals affecting the charts this week. EA’s ‘FIFA 15’ climbs 1 place to No4 (+44%) and Ubisoft climb impressively for a second week, up a further 3 places to No5 with ‘Far Cry 4’ - one of the big Easter sale beneficiaries (+116%).

The big new release this week at No8 is Bandai Namco’s multi-format ‘Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin’, which also happens to be the second From Software-developed title within the Top 10 in the space of 2 weeks. Also debuting this week is EA’s first Sims 4 expansion ‘The Sims 4: Get to Work’ at No18. The final new release within the Top 40 is Nintendo’s epic action-RPG ‘Xenoblade Chronicles’ for 3DS at No27. Developed by Monster Games in association with Monolith this game only works on the new Nintendo 3DS due to size and scale.

Holy shit Dark Souls II remaster was not received well.

Is it much shock? Fans have a new game on new consoles. XO sales suggest moving to PS4 exclusive probably is not going to affect Bloodborne's audience reach. Most likely bought to add to the collection or because they are die-hard Dark Souls fans (i.e. Bloodborne not their cup).

Some of these remasters are just to put something on the shelves that will get picked up over a few months tbh.

Just noticed both FF0 and Revelations 2 have dropped out of the individual chart entirely, and in the combined chart R2 is at 30 while FF0 is barely clinging on at 39. That's not great.

Makes perfect sense. FF0 is a port of a years old handheld game masquerading as a full price release while R2 is cheaper to get digital, much like Driveclub bombing out of the charts just after release to be resurrected by bundling.

It's still a great game. It doesn't have the lasting impact of the other Souls games, but is certainly packed with more quality game time than most releases. The comparisons to the previous games are unfair when you consider it's created by different people. I would have expected much worse if they advertised it as a sequel by different developers.

Yea I think it would have been better to release dark souls 2 HD version at the end of April rather than now.

T.O.P? I think he's playing Bloodborne at the moment lol. Would 11th and 16th spots really be so low in sales? I thought sub top 10 would still be several hundred, or over a thousand sales. Am I completely wrong in that assumption?

Its really a test as well at this point. Niche release aimed more at getting people with current 3DS/XL systems to upgrade.

So the big re-entires:

Pokemon White: £7.99 at Argos
Destiny: £15 at Tesco
Far Cry 4 360 and Ass Creed U PS4: Easter sales.

Other things to note are a mis-price GTA V on PS4/XB1 at £20 doing some slight work and price drops on Master Chief Collection & Forza Horizon 2 bringing them down to £25.

Not surprising... a fairly small (dare I say niche) IP+ only on new console+ UK&Nintendo.
