UK:

Bonkers zombie-killer Lollipop Chainsaw has sliced into the UK all-format charts in fourth place.

FIFA 12, fuelled by Euro 2012 mania, shot back up into first place.

9/10 PlayStation Vita puzzler Gravity Rush managed an 11th place finish, despite chart company Chart-Track only counting physical sales of the game (it also launched as a download on PlayStation Network last Friday).

Nintendo 3DS online dungeon crawler Heroes of Ruin, last week's other new release, missed the top 40. It turned up in fifth place on the 3DS-specfic software chart.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon fell to second place, ahead of Max Payne 3 in third. Battlefield 3 was fifth, Diablo 3 was sixth. Game of Thrones, Sniper Elite V2, Mario & Sonic London Olympics and DiRT Showdown also scored top 10 finishes.

An actual Vita game in the top 10 and it's a good one. Well done.

But if something like Lollipop Chainsaw is at 4 numbers must be extremely low.

Good stuff for Gravity Rush. It's really rather good. I wish we got some idea of the split between retail and digital, even if we don't get numbers.

UK games retail sales down 38% in May

The tough times continue for UK games retail, with the latest Chart-Track data showing the market fell 38 per cent last month.

1.8m games were sold in May, generating £45.5m.

Both figures are almost 40 per cent down compared with the same period in 2011.

For the third May in a row, Rockstar was the top performer with Max Payne 3. However, the game failed to match the numbers achieved by LA Noire or Red Dead Redemption.

Diablo III was the second best seller, which propelled Activision to No.1 in the publisher rankings by value.

Nice to see a PS Vita title charting, Gravity Rush deserves to be a success.

Heroes Of Ruin in 39th position, that's more than I expected, anyway it must have sold 1,000 or 1,500 units.

One week after its release Rayman Origins got outsold by Rayman 3D xD

I posted in the previous thread this week's chart with the usual format.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Moshi Monsters selling better than Heroes of Ruin

What the..?

Moshi Monsters has done pretty good ( even better than Mario 3DS titles in some weeks) since last Holiday.
It's based on a pretty famous ranchise aimed towards children. This year, there will be a 3DS-DS entry.

Really unsettling seeing these low numbers continue.

Retailers must be getting impatient for Wii U, Halo 4 and Black Ops II and in general terms, for the next generation to arrive. Doesn't help that so many games have been pushed back into next year too.

Yeah, I have young kids, Moshi Monsters are absolutely HUGE with that age group.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
How the fuck did Lollipop Chainsaw get so high on the chart? I thought for sure it was DOA.

Even if it is a slow weei, still glad to see Gravity Rush in the top 10. Hell I bought a copy and I don't even own a Vita yet!

Heroes of Ruin :(

How many third-party 3DS games has Nintendo Europe already published? I think all of them have bombed badly.

Well I haven't bought a Vita (or 3DS) due to time constraits. Still got several console games I'd like to play so even if I owned them, they'd probably go unused. Most likely buy both near Christmas this year when they'll be cheaper and have a better library.

As for buying Gravity Rush now, well the main thing was Shopto's pre order DLC. Besides this game looks fantastic from what I've seen and played on a demo and deserves all the support it can getaway

09 (NE) [PSV] Gravity Rush (Sony Computer Ent.)

I'm gonna need numbers. Revelations made all the way to #1, I got all excited, and it still sold like shit in the UK.

39 (NE) [3DS] Heroes of Ruin (Nintendo)

LOL Mess.

They really need the next few months to just disappear. Nobody seems to be buying anything outside of huge blockbusters and I can see that continuing until Christmas...

The climate just isn't great. You'd think game stores and such would be trying to spur things on with sales tactics, but outside of the occasional item in the cheapass thread, there's rarely anything good on offer.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Heroes of Ruin (Nintendo) - another NoE distributed Third Party bomba. When its all said and done it probably will have sold 25K copies across europe -.-

The only real bomba bomba, so far, IMHO, is Tekken ( Ace Combat was distributed by Namco IIRC...and neither the console version did so well XD ). Resident Evil sold something, and all the others aren't games able to sell in a big way. Especially Rhythm Thief ( poor Phantom R, I've not ignored you at least :( ). Yeah, it's true Tekken was lackster, but it really sold too low, it didn't even enter 3DS Specific top 10, something Rhythm Thief actually did! :lol

P.S. A "little" consolation is that all the Nintendo distributed titles represent pure profit for third parties.

Hmmm, they didn't mention any percentage drops or increases... I wonder if that is deliberate.

Yeah.
...No percentages. Oh man, this is getting even worse than NPD :( Quite an achievement, indeed! :lol :(

PlayStation Vita puzzler Gravity Rush managed an 11th place finish

Sony changed the name in the west (from Gravity Daze) because they thought people would think it's a puzzle game, so they still think it's a puzzle game.

I was serious about whether BKK is ok or not. Anyone?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.

Week ending 16 June 2012
Code:

The weekly unit figure was down 46% YOY, so we've finally edged down to -34% YTD in units. Ugly, and getting uglier.

Edit: More tidbits.

PS2 best-selling console in South Africa in 2011. PS2 + PSP represent 1/3 of unit software sales while Xbox 360 + PS3 represent 1/2 of the software market value. PlayStation (PS3 + PS2 + PSP) holds 68% of marketshare, followed by Nintendo, and Microsoft.

The Dark Knight glides in at No1 as Traveller’s Tales’ ‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’ takes top spot in our All Formats Chart.

This time the series includes a wealth of DC greats such as Superman and Wonderwoman and goes one better than it’s predecessor, which debued at No2 back in Week 41 2008. ‘FIFA 12’ drops to No2 while Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’ drops to No3. In turn this sends Take 2’s ‘Max Payne 3’ to No4. ‘Battlefield 3’ holds the No5 spot helped by its new Premium release sending last week’s new entry ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ to No6.
There’s re-entries for ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ jumping from No23 back up to No8 and also ‘FIFA Street’ from No13 to No10. Outside the Top 10 there’s a debut for ‘Civilisation V: Gods and Kings’ at No16.

No percentages ever again, it seems :(

Batman various versions.

360 - 1st
PS3 - 2nd
Wii - 3rd
DS - 15th
3DS - 28th
Vita - out of top 40 ( 33th in individual value top 40)

Mario 3DS games rising. A lot.
