Woah...is there any reason for this?

The reason is... Advertising.
Nintendo was basically not known before Wii and DS in Italy outside handheld platform, so for me (I'm Italian) it's quite strange to see so many Nintendo games charting, and big space in stores for them. Kirby and Inazuma Eleven are becoming pretty popular among kids.

Out This Week [Friday 6 July 2012]

Dead Island: Game of the Year Edition (PS3/X360/PC)
Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy (3DS)
Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise (WII)
Jonah Lomu Rugby (PSV)

So I am just checking my upcoming releases, and it seems Jonah Lomu Rugby (out today) is the last PSVita release until LBP launches on 21st September. Oh my.

UK Top 40: Lego Batman 2 soars to third number one
Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes has soared to a third consecutive week atop the UK all-format charts.

It beat London 2012: The Official Video Game into second place, despite the latter increasing in sales ahead of the Olympics.

Activision film tie-in The Amazing Spider-Man was slung into third place, ahead of 2K shooter Spec Ops: The Line in fourth.

Dead Island's Game of the Year Edition entered the charts in fifth, meanwhile.

Other new entries included musical Final Fantasy spin-off Theatrhythm. The 3DS-exclusive turned up in 19th place.

Funcom MMO The Secret World managed to chart too - just. Its boxed PC version notched up a meagre 38th place entry.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Better view from Chart Track site ( the charts aren't up yet)

Warner and Traveller’s Tales’ ‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’ takes a third consecutive week at No1 (-30%)

Last week’s third biggest new entry, Sega’s ‘London 2012: The Official Video Game’ is the only one of the three to increase in sales, climbing from No4 to No2 (+81%). Last week’s top new entry, Activision’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ drops from No2 to No3 (-15%) and the 2nd biggest new release from last week, 2K/Take 2’s ‘Spec Ops: The Line’ drops from No3 to No4 (-24%).
Switching to this week and it is the return of Koch Media’s smash hit ‘Dead Island’ in ‘Game of the Year Edition’ (includes all additional content previously only available digitally) as the highest new entry at No5. Note that ‘Dead Island’ was released last year in September and went on to become the 2nd biggest new IP of 2011, behind Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘L.A. Noire’. Also of note this week is the return of Activision’s ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ to the Top 10, up 26 places to No8 (+193%) thanks to across-the-board retail price promotional activity. MW3 therefore chalks up 30 of 35 weeks since launch within the Top 10 and is currently the 5th all-time highest unit seller in the UK and the 3rd in terms of revenue (behind ‘Black Ops’ and ‘MW2’).

Also new this week is Square Enix’s ‘Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy’ for 3DS at No19, a new twist in the series since this is in fact a rhythm game featuring music from the original Final Fantasy right up to FF XIII. The final new release within the Top 40 is EA’s MMO ‘The Secret World’ at No38 which was developed by Funcom, makers of ‘Anarchy Online’ (2001) and the more recent ‘Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures’ (2008). ‘The Secret World’ was a Tuesday release (74% of week 1 sales occurred within the first 24 hours) and is already the 6th game this year to release mid-week, compared to just 3 over the same time-scale of 2011.

Coming on Tuesday and doing 74% of the first week total in the first 24 hours means it won't have legs at all O_O

EDIT: And now they're up

Nice to see Theatrhythm to appear on the charts even know it wouldn't have done much. It needs some more 3DS games on the charts until the new mario bros game appears.

For some reference: FFIII DS debuted at 11th in May in the All-Formats Chart. Its trend in the AFC

11-7-10-17-30, then three-four weeks between 30-40 and then disappeared.

On the contrary, FFIV, released in September...uhm, err...never appeared in the All-Formats Top 40.

Nor CC: Rings of Fate neither CC: Echoes of Time appeared in top 40.

Dissidia debuted at 10, then 16, then it disappeared.

The market was in a much different shape back then. You needed much more units sold to chart. You can't compare these like for like.

Anyone know why Modern Warfare 3 has hauled itself right back up the charts, or has it just been that low selling a week all round?

Also surprised that Halo Anniversary is only at 20 despite being on top of Amazon's charts all week, I thought they had more influence.
