Here's the fallacy. Unless 3DS games were less affected by the slow period than other games, they are not more likely to chart during a slow period than during a stronger period. It's not a matter of "normal 3DS sales" vs "slow period other system sales", but "slow period 3DS sales" vs "slow period other system sales".
No, i dont mean it like that. What i mean is that when sales were slow to begin with, which is the case with many of the 3DS games, they have statistically less chance to drop in units compared to other games that had higher sales to begin with. It is also not unusual that games stabilize in sales at some point and not every games are equally affected in this slow sales period.

We see "unknown" games chart again in the Top 40. The reason for this is probably most likely because these games have fairly stabilized themself (since they sell few units each week). This could have been the case for the 3DS games as well.

It is true that 3DS games are also affected by the slow period, i'm not saying anything against that. But if the 3DS games cant make it within the Top 40 in these slow periods, it means that the games are either still dropping in sales or they have stabilized at a quite low level. And this isnt exactly good news (which was Opus Angelorum's initial point in this discussion). I'm not really expecting the 3DS games to suddently jump in the charts, but i must admit that i'm a bit surprised that we dont even see one 3DS game enter the Top 40 again, even if it is at 40th place.

But we will see if the situation changes once more big title games are being released =)

Interesting numbers :) I wonder how the software sales have been for the last 2-3 weeks, because these weeks seems to have been the slowest week.

I think it simply means that they're dropping with the rest of the industry, which is what I would've expected to begin with.

Just saw the new 3DS advert, its obviously made to address all the complaints here.
Makes it crystal clear that its higher spec new hardware, and finishes with the tagline "this isn't DS, this is 3DS".

Wonder if it'll bump the sales in the coming weeks.

Heh, I just caught the end of this, hopefully it'll be available online somewhere soon.

That might very well be the case indeed. But if the games contunie to drop, and also concidering that most of the games didnt really have a strong first week sales, i wonder at what sales number the games will stabilize on.

As always, this will depend on the games themselves and the time of year and so on.

Indeed, but i still wonder how much these games sell right now :) I.e Steel Diver just to take a random example, if that game is still dropping in sales or if it has stabilized in sales. I would guess that the 2nd best 3DS game last week sold something around 1000 - 1500 units.

Saw it last night. Definitely targeted at "core" gameplayers.

Showed Metal Gear Solid with the subtitle "not available till November".

I wouldn't have thought so, surely the early adopters who wanted a 3DS have already bought it? Everyone else are awaiting the staple Nintendo franchises which won't come out until nearer to Xmas 2011.

Yeah, it's gonna by a "dry, dry" summer.)

505 Games have now notched up a healthy run of 7 consecutive weeks at No1 with ‘Zumba Fitness’ (+33%), breaking into double digits with a total of 10 weeks at the top, which puts it in joint 5th place for the most week spent at No1 in the All Formats Chart (which goes back to 1996) ahead of games like ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ and ‘FIFA 07’.

Disney’s ‘Cars 2’ (+100%) sales have doubled, causing it to accelerate up the charts to No2, forcing Ubisoft’s ‘Call of Juarez: The Cartel’ (+7%) down a place to No3.

It’s Ubisoft again at No4 with add-on pack ‘Just Dance 2: Extra Songs’ leaping up the chart with a massive 127% increase in sales.

Disney’s ‘Lego Pirates of the Caribbean’ (-5%) is back down to No5, with Codemasters’ ‘Dirt 3’ (+11%) moving up the grid at No6.

EA hold the next two places with ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ (-22%) taking a tumble down from No3 to No7 and ‘FIFA 11’ (+20%) moving up the table to No8.

Rockstar/Take 2’s detective crime thriller ‘L.A. Noire’ (+71%) has been promoted back into the Top 10 at No9 and Activision Blizzard finish off the Top 10 with ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ (-22%) at No10.

After 5pm this ad runs on nearly every commercial break on ITV1, the UK's most watched commercial channel.

Nintendo's really trying to zap the system back into gear.

Back to targetting the "core" gameplayers eh Nintendo? Wouldn't they already know what the machine is and most likely already own one?

And won't that kind of advertising with those types of games (action, shooting and racers) negatively affect its image with women, seniors and casuals?

"State of the art online functionality"

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
