PAL Charts - Week 29, 2012

It's a bit confused but I think the market share refers to the first half of 2012. In fact, that would be an atrocious market share for the 3DS if it referred to its LTD sales.

Nintendo PR:
Yes. The other source also mentions a market share of 70%, but they only reported about that May-period. I think it actually refers to that May numbers.

[NDS] New Super Mario Bros. - 695.000

*LTD, thx for the Nintendo PR. :)

So, if I understand correctly, 3DS has been the best selling console during communions time. Interesting.

handheld... 44% of the market, so 30% Vita, PSP 26%?

Family? :P

Portable console market share in 2012:

3DS - 44% (almost doubling its immediate follower)

PSV + PSP + NDS - 56%

Next generation portable console market share in 2012:

3DS - 70%
PSV - 30%

PS Vita didn't have a bad launch, in fact it was stronger than the 3DS. The problem is that its sales have slowed down considerably.

Kingdom Hearts was sold out in Hamburg Germany on wednesday :o
but I really thought that the series sold more in PAL, are these good numbers?

Dat Dutch Trinity

01. Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (Nintendo 3DS)
02. Super Mario 3D Land (Nintendo 3DS)
03. Mario Kart 7 (Nintendo 3DS)
04. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Playstation 3)
05. Battlefield 3 (pc)
06. Just Dance 3 (Nintendo Wii)
07. Max Payne 3 (Playstation 3)
08. Battlefield 3 (Playstation 3)

Wow at Mario 3DLand and Mario kart 7's long legs in Germany, France, Italy and Netherlands!

Honestly never I would have guessed they'd still have been on top 10 after 8 months, even considering sales generally slow down in summer, but if that's of any indication it just means 3DS is selling decently in Europe overall and the attach rate of said games is amazing, possibly as they're the biggest sellers for 3DS so far, at least until NSMB2 hits the shelves.

By the way good first week for KH in Germany and Netherlands from what I gather, incidentally we must remember that France and Italy are a week behind as usual.

Inazuma Eleven 2 is advertised so much in stores that it's not surprising it's doing so well. Nice for Level-5, I wonder how they'll manage next releases in Europe.

Besides Inazuma eleven has been shown on Italian TV for some time in recent years(even early this morning they were giving an episode) and this may have helped IP's popularity somehow.

KH3D...is there. And very high.

Thanks to the start of the London 2012 Olympics Sega climb to No1 for the first time in 5 weeks on chart with ‘London 2012: The Official Video Game’ (+25%). ‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’ (-8%) drops to No2 after a 5 week unbroken reign at the top and Sega can also celebrate the success of ‘Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games’ which climbs 5 places to No3 (+21%) – a best ever chart position for this title, which has been out for 38 weeks on Wii and 25 weeks on 3DS (previous best was All Formats No4 in week 7 this year, the week after the 3DS version launched). Nintendo’s 3DS XL launched on Saturday 28th July and is only the 2nd videogame hardware format to launch on a Saturday, the last time was for N64 on 1st March, 1997. There were also 4 new 3DS software titles launched this week of which 2 are Nintendo first party, also launched on Saturday 28th (New Art Academy & Freakyforms). However, it is only Nintendo’s ‘Pokemon Conquest’ on DS that makes the Top 40, in at No17 - the Pokemon brand is currently the 10th biggest unit shifter of all videogame brands tracked over the last 15 years. For the record, the only new 3DS title to make the 3DS Top 20 was ‘New Art Academy’ at No9, one of the few titles that are exempt from PEGI ratings.

Are you talking about Spain?
Because if I remember correctly the leaked numbers for Vita launch was lower that the 3DS ones (3ds set positive records for a Nintendo launch in Europe while Vita set negative records for Sony hw launches in PAL regions).
I'm talking about the debut (the real launch), of course.

Yes, I'm talking about Spain. Not that it had a much stronger launch but it sold 15% more units.

06 (04) 3DS Kingdom Hearts 3d: Dream Drop Distance (Nintendo)

Nice to see that Kingdom Hearts 3D didn't have a bad second week.

I see, thank you!

TOP 10 NINTENDO 3DS (FULL PRICE), WEEK ENDING 28 July 2012

09 (__) 3DS New Art Academy (Nintendo)

Ouch!, I've seen lots of TV adverts for this game in Spain. Nintendo have chosen New Art Academy to sell their new 3DS XL.

09 (__) 3DS New Art Academy (Nintendo)

Ouch!, I've seen lots of TV adverts for this game in Spain. Nintendo have chosen New Art Academy to sell their new 3DS XL.

I think this game must be jugded not now, but in some months. It's not something which would sell immediatly, and above all, since it's been released on 28th, it had just one day of sales ( in fact, UK Charts ends 28th July). We'll see in the following weeks.

Freakyforms and New Art Academy bombed.

I thought there might be a boost for 3DS software with the XL release but looks like it's just current owners upgrading.

Mario Kart 7 from 21st to 10th, 3D Land from 25th to 16th, Mario & Sonic from 22nd to 15th, and Lego Batman reappearing in 34th in the chart aren't software boost?

However, FreakyForms definitely bombed. If UKIE is to be believed, it isn't even in 3DS Specific top 20, not just top 10. For New Art Academy, instead, we have to wait the following weeks.

I was expecting nothing from Freakyforms, honestly. So weird..
Art academy should be judge in the long terms, but it's not obviously a hot start.
That said, actually KH3D was able to hang up very high compared to the first week (from 4th to sixth) while all the other titles in the chart got directly a good boost (MK 21-10; Mario&Sonic 22-15; Marioland 25-16; Lego Batman out-34).
Plus, the new 3DS XL was launched only on Saturday (not Friday as usual).

Are Holland and France charts not including the 3DS launch, right?

French Charts

http://www.sell.fr/Les-meilleures-ventes-de-jeux,571

1)Kingdom Hearts 3D - Dream Drop Distance [3DS]
2)Mario Kart 7 [3DS]
3)FIFA 12 [PS3]
4)Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3 [PS3]
5)Super Mario 3D Land [3DS]
Interesting, 3 3DS titles in the top 5 for the week before the XL launch. 3DS is doing well now and with NSMB 2 it should have a significant boost.

Are Holland and France charts not including the 3DS launch, right?
Right.

As it should. They repackage the eshop game with some crappy additions and try to sell it at full cart price. As funny as freakyforms was, paying full price for it seems insane.

Same as Art Academy. As a 10-15 bucks download it would make me bite, but as a full priced game? Fuck that.

With sales so low it would have been nice to see a few other 3DS titles re-enter lower down the chart is all I'm saying.

The Mario trio are anomalies.

well, they are obviously the games people buy with a new console, honestly.
plus KH good second week and Lego Batman bost are additions to those three mario titles.
And the new console is counted for less days than usual charts for new products.

I agree. Freakyform retails was a fool choice.
Art academy in Italy is less cheaper that a full price: isn't it so in UK? Just asking. I still think that it should be judged at least within a month-period.

thanks.
it will be hard to judge possible 3DSXL boosts in those two countries, considering how well positioned are the 3ds games this week.

How can you say Art Academy bombed? Do you really expect games like that to have massive first week sales? On the other hand, Freakyforms is a huge flop. I would say Kingdom Hearts is doing....ok considering the franchise's complete lack of success in the UK to begin with
