PAL Charts - Week 35, 2012

If anyone's interested

New Super Mario 2 is up to 72k after 3 weeks on sale
3d Land is up to 354k after 42 weeks

Thanks! :D

EDIT: This means Mario did the following

1st Week: 32.287
2nd Week: 24.215 (-25%)
3rd Week: 15.498 (-36%)

And we have a possible comparison with the first NSMB

1st Week: 24.951 (NSMB2 debuted doing 29.4% more than NSMB)
2nd Week: 23.953 (-4%)
3rd Week: 17.485 (-27%)

Total: 66.389

So, NSMB2 is selling a bit better than NSMB, despite UK being in a much worse state than before. IIRC, NSMB sold 450k in total in its first year.

EDIT2: And so, Sleeping Dogs?

1st Week: 52.587 360 - 30.500 (58%) PS3 - 21.035 (40%)
2nd Week: 44.700 (-15%) 360 - 26.373 (59%) PS3 - 17.433 (39%)
3rd Week: 27.713 (-38%) 360 - 16.905 (61%) PS3 - 10.531 (38%)

The whole "NSMB2 is lazy" thing is indeed getting old. Having just about 100%-ed it now (almost there), I have come to feel that its tight and creative level design (which is at least on par with the Wii game and often much better due to focus on single-player with chains of coin bonuses) is exactly what the genre needs. I fear that the indie /iOS scene has distorted the sense of what makes a good platformer, with nearly every hyped entry I've tried delivering only on a startling art style but consistently taking huge steps backards in mechanics and level design.

In short, one may feel differently, but the constant chorus of "of course NSMB2 is a cheap money grab" is not adding anything to the conversation, and would appear to be based entirely on the lack of a new or flashy art style, or a misunderstanding of the Mario Cram School story. It's easily the most polished and expansive 2D Mario in the history of Nintendo handhelds (by a long shot if you look back), so I don't get the kneejerk reaction.

Tales of Graces F numbers are low but its charting position is good imho, and we should consider the situation (UK market problems, jrpg genre not so popular and so on). Hopefully, this debut and the satisfying sales for Namco of Tales of the Abyss 3ds can bring us more Tales of!!!

Thanks, do you also have access to the Hardware report? I think most here would like to know current UK hardware LTDs. Also, if those figures are from the actual report then they are non-upweighted 90% coverage.
