Does the platform order indicate share of sales? PC appearing first in some games leads me to say no.
Rayman Legends (PC, WIi U, 360, PS3, PSV)
Yes, Saty, the generally indication is that the platform list is ranked by units per platform.
Are there any platform top 10s that people are interested in?

I have the October platform breakdown. Will get to it later.
UK October 2013 Top Retail Software
FIFA 14 (360, PS3, 3DS, PSP, PC, PS2, Wii, PSV)
FIFA 13 (360, PS3, 3DS, PSP, PC, PS2, Wii U, Wii, PSV)
I'm interested in Wii U's top 10.
Unless the digital sales were fucking nuts, I doubt there'll be any more FIFA titles on Vita.
That would mean that in October Infinite, Tomb Raider, Rayman Legends, Diablo 3, PES 2014 sold best in retail on PC which is very surprising to me. Maybe some older titles had deals and maybe that's the longer tail in display, but Diablo selling more in the month the console versions came out? And Rayman and a soccer game?Yes, Saty, the generally indication is that the platform list is ranked by units per platform.
Heh. I don't have time for all of that. I did the Wii U. Can probably do another top 10 or maybe two...Regarding platform top 10's, all of them?![]()
I only recall that coming up in NPD rankings.I thought we had argued in the past that the listing was a ranking.
Regardless, MCV UK isn't always precise. For example, there is a typo in the platform share.

The sales declines posted by Assassins Creed IV and Battlefield 4 was severe. Sales of Creed are down 60 per cent year-on-year, while Battlefield 4s sales are down 69 per cent compared with 2011s Battlefield 3. Week one sales of FIFA?14 were also down 24 per cent.
Both titles are in the six figure range and the difference was mighty close. AC was about 3% more than BF. Based on the multiplayer, one would presume that BF will have the longer legs

October 2012:What were the retail sales of 3DS software in Oct 2012? Are software sales up in 2013? Pokemon most likely has 70-80% of the total 3DS software sku sold. Also add Nintendo's ever-green titles - they most likely have 90%. Insane.
Wii U is 1.6% of the retail UK market in 2013, by units. By revenue, it is 1.9%.
PSV is 1.5% by units and 1.1% by value.
It would be extremely interesting to know how things change if you include digital. Worldwide in 2013, Nintendo has generated approximately £400mm in digital revenue. But what part of that is the UK? Maybe 15%? That'd add, at best, another £60mm in digital, split among the NDS, 3DS, Wii, and Wii U.

Poor 3DS number for October considering Pokemon came out on the 12th. 308k barely beating the worst PS3 month (July at 305k) this year is very poor. Worse still is that Nintendo are running out of big hitters. From now on it's sequels and medium hits. I don't know what Nintendo can do to revive the 3DS in the UK, everything they have done so far has fallen on deaf ears. I really think the brand is just dead here, the manner in which they dumped the Wii after 2009/10 really soured people I think.

I don't know how much you can consider Nintendo "dead" in UK when...

3DS has been the best selling console in the country for the last 6 months (given the datas we have for April, May and especially September, this means it sold quite good during Summer), without considering October, when the first two weeks saw a 45% share compared to the overall market (full month share should be around 40%, counting the Argos' deal week). About software, I'd agree with you if 3DS had a Western third party support that can be compared, even slightly, to the HD twins' one. 3DS has a very low amount of Western third party support, excluding some multi releases, how could it top PS3 software sales with just Nintendo titles and Japanese niche stuff?[/QUOTE]
Vita is dead. The Wii and Wii U are dead. The PS3 and 360 are 7 and 8 years old respectively. PSP is dead.
It is performing well in a dead market, but in just two weeks next gen is going to start. The 3DS is going to be blown away by the Bone and PS4 and the market will expand to accommodate the new entrants. The problem for Nintendo is that 3DS won share from a stagnant or falling market, it did nothing to expand the gaming market. PS4 and Bone are going to expand the gaming market in the UK and the 3DS will get utterly destroyed by them, probably on a global basis (other than Japan ofc).
Nintendo have thrown Pokemon, Mario 3D, Mario 2D, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and a Zelda remake at the system and all it can muster is 1.5m software sales and 27% market share. The last and really final shot is ALBW but with a Zelda title already out on the system I'm not sure how many hardware units it will move.
Really what I'm getting it is that 300k software units in October, with the release of Pokemon and the 2DS is pitiful and a sign that the UK has just moved on from Nintendo. If Pokemon can's sell here, then nothing they have can. They have also been advertising the fuck out of it, I see so many 2DS and Pokemon adverts on TV in the evenings and I'm sure children's TV channels will have even more of it in the after school hours of 3-5pm.
In addition, it's still not yet clear whether Nintendo are actually profitable on 3DS/2DS hardware. They sold only 460k Wii Us last quarter and yet posted an operating loss of $180m, that points to poor hardware margins on both consoles, not just the Wii U, because there is no way they are losing over $300 per Wii U.
We've got a 2DS in house and our team is doing a costing analysis on it over the next week or so so we'll see how much they cut out of it to hit the low price point or whether they are incentivising buyers by selling below cost.
Thanks, No Previous charts?

However, in connection with the price reduction of the Wii U hardware in the overseas markets, the effects of absorbing the inventory markdown at retail, revaluating the hardware as finished goods, and loss arising from the hardware for production in the second half of the fiscal year, led to an operating loss situation.
Incidentally the yen is now somewhat depreciated and we are able to offer Nintendo 2DS without facing profitability problems.

Thanks!
Wow @ PC SKU of Battlefield 4 being the best selling one O__O
Last and really final shot is Zelda? I don't know where to find UK-specific numbers, or if they are available at all, but Zelda isn't as strong a franchise as you make it sound. I'm pretty sure Mario Party, Kirby, Smash Bros. and Mario & Sonic are bigger nowadays, and Yoshi and Mario Golf should be close enough that it doesn't make Zelda look like Mount Everest.
Overall I agree that they threw a lot at the 3DS already, but you make it sound like Zelda is their big ace in the sleeve. It's not that big anymore.
Call of Duty: Ghosts reignites the All Formats Top 40, debuting at No1 with the 3rd biggest launch of the year (behind GTA V and FIFA 14). Released on Tuesday, sales were split 62% on XB360, 34% PS3, 3% PS4 and the rest on PC and Wii U. Despite Sonys new console not due in stores until November 29th, Activision Blizzard released the PS4 version alongside the current formats. The PS4 version performs spectacularly well for a game that consumers will not be able to actually play for another 3 weeks, managing to outsell the PS3 versions of Assassins Creed IV and Battlefield 4. Beaten to No1 by Assassins Creed IV (-63%) last week, Battlefield 4 ( -54%) holds on to No2, outselling the popular Ubisoft title by 6,000 units across their first two weeks of launch. FIFA 14 (-16%) and GTA V (-31%) both slip one place to Nos 4 and 5 respectively, while Batman: Arkham Origins (-55%) also drops one place to No6, despite PC, Wii U and 3DS versions new out this week. WWE 2K14 (-57%) holds on to No7 ahead of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (-3%) at No8 and Football Manager 2014 (-65%) which falls three places to No9. Skylanders Swap Force (+2%) is at No10, the only Top 10 title to increase in sales this week. There is only one other new title to make the Top 40, Nintendos sixth Professor Layton game and final part of the latest trilogy of titles Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, new at No13. Previous Layton game Miracle Mask debuted at No7 last year.
Wait, so the PS4 version (3%) outsold the Wii U & PC versions (1% combined), despite the fact that the console isn't even on the shelves yet?Released on Tuesday, sales were split 62% on XB360, 34% PS3, 3% PS4 and the rest on PC and Wii U.
