‘Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ blasts to the top of the All Formats Chart with the second biggest release of the year (behind FIFA 17).

However, it’s not enough to outperform last year’s ‘Black Ops III’ launch week with sales down 48.4%. There is no Xbox 360 or PS3 version this time round, although even comparing just PS4 and Xbox One; sales are still down by 43.6%. ‘Battlefield 1’ (-45%) makes way, dropping to No2, while ‘FIFA 17’ (-11) holds on to third. ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition’ (-53%) falls 2 places to No4, sitting only 1,500 sales behind FIFA. ‘Titanfall 2’ (-41%) slips from No4 to No5 ahead of this week’s only other new entry to break in to the Top 40, ‘Football Manager 2017’, debuting at No6. A big retailer price promotion coupled with increased TV advertising has given Skylanders Imaginators’ (+131%) a large boost, propelling it up from No19 to No7.

Activision is having a bad time this Winter, Imaginators completely crashed and burned and COD sold half of what it sold last year. What a shame.

It's just another trend that's suddenly ending, because it was milked too much and couldn't evolve into something different/better. Pretty much this gen's guitar games. Disney probably made the right call by pulling the plug on Infinity.

You make a good point. I also imagine that the exclusivity didn't help as well since the XB versions this week are higher.

TR is actually holding on decently. She hasn't fell of a cliff really. BF1 and TF2 drops actually not too bad considering.

What bombs... I mean new releases, we got coming this week?

Oversaturated shooter market is gonna hurt every major series in the long run. This is the beginning of the end for CoD uncontested run at the top perhaps. Couple more years and it'll possibly be another also ran stuck in the doorway with the rest in the Autumn shooter clusterfuck.

Glad to see toys to life shit is on the way out though. Just need Lego Dimensions and it's packs to collapse in price like Disney Infinity did so I can play it.

Jesus, what happened this year??

UK market went to shit. Gonna get even worse too once Brexit actually happens.

Sad to see Titanfall 2 only at 50k sales total. I mean, I know the reasons why, but I've been playing it over the weekend and it's one of the best FPSs I've played in quite a few years.

holy shit, so basically only FIFA has any real success anymore? the fuck?

And GTA. Seems like COD (while still selling well) is no longer the behemoth it once was. Assuming these sales are reflected elsewhere, of course.

The COD thing is just the beginning in my opinion. Let's see the upcoming Watch Dogs, Assasin's Creeds and other friends fail in more or less the same way.
Market has reached some sort of saturation in certain genres and it will grow over the coming years. There's so much that can coexist...

People have to buy something, right? :D

No. They don't.

It's not looking like certain genres. in fact, I don't see why you would look at the charts and think Watch_Dogs is coming into some saturated thing. There's only one modern open world game and that's GTA V.

UK market went to shit. Gonna get even worse too once Brexit actually happens.

This has nothing to do with Brexit, come on.

Lots of people have lost faith in CoD after recent years, then there's the fact that BF1 will have significantly eaten in to its share. CoD has been on the decline for a while now.

And people think Dishonored 2 will sell well :/

Do they? Might do well over time (assuming it's good), but yeah I can see it doing Quantum Break levels of bad at launch. Not sure why, really liked the first game, but just have no desire to buy it day 1.

It was exclusive? To what console?
I never said exclusive, lol. I said exclusivity, the crash pack is PS4 timed (?) exclusive.

Oh did it? I missed that.

Maybe I'm read the charts wrong? Let's go back to went Skylanders Imaginators released in the UK.

Week 41, 2016:

In the all formats chart, S Imaginators charts in at number 8. Looking into the individual formats, we can see that S Imaginators charts with the PS4 version being the highest at 22nd position, XB360 version at 27th, XB1 version at 28th and the Wii U version at 33rd. The PS3 version didn't even chart (I'm assuming).

Week 42, 2016:

S Imaginators has fallen to 12 position on the all formats chart. On the individual formats chart, S Imaginators has only charted with the XB360 version slipping into 38th positon and the XBO version slipping into 39th position.

Week 43, 2016:

S Imaginators is now down to 19th position on the all formats chart. On looking at the individual charts, we can see that it failed to reach the top 40 (On every formats).

Week 44, 2016:

S Imaginators did better this week than its original release, charting at number 7. In the individual formats, the XBO version is the highest at 23rd position with the XB360 version at 24. The PS4 version returns at position 30th. The Wii U and PS3 versions did not chart.

Please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.

How are you judging what real success is? I am sure Uncharted 4, Battlefield 1 and many other games can be described as a success this year.
Uncharted 4 is up from the third chapter, Battlefield 1 is a little misleading because it doesn't include the next gen launch of the game, and I think that if we put both launch together BF4 sold more than BF1.

The fifa series being a success in the UK is no surprise. Still, I do find it strange that a series that has had a yearly releases since 93 is beating a series that became annually 10 years ago.

Oh shit, I completely forgot about that! What are the combined week 1 BF4 sales then?

FIFA can kinda get away with doing very little, whilst still not getting stale, as they can't really change much, and if they did it'd probably have a far worse effect than them pretty much just doing roster updates. Whereas CoD can only do the same-ish thing so many times before the people getting bored overtake the newcomers. I'm surprised it's only getting bigger, though I think that also has something to do with it fully killing off PES this year.

Thank you Floody, your reply pretty much answers my question.

Forza Horizon !!! I'm going to do dumbell shoulder press while smirking at myself in the mirror at the gym today in celebration.
