Palutena Confirmed for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U

So Nintendo, When is Kid Icarus or Smash anime? You already have Sawano (who is working on X OST meanwhile), it's all ready come on.

uhhh im pretty sure niintendo has a say over their characters, they cant just go making figures because they want to.

true but usually i figured the company that wants to make a figure asks for character rights and other legal jargon and thats about the only thing the home company is involved with (or i could be horrendously wrong)

I hate to go all CSI on this, but there's clearly SOMETHING under there:

man that's a nice armpit

Between this and the character introductions for Wonder-Pink and Immorta in The Wonderful 101, I have to ask: is this specific sequence of shots an established genre convention of anime that I don't know about?

basically. i dont know why people are so upset over 2 seconds of anime fan service. VERY tame fan service might i add.

People are still talking about this? And in a new thread of all things. Just going to requote myself from the previous SSB thread...

Sure, yet the problem we have here is that the game will not have a sexualized Palutena as we've been given in-game footage in that same trailer. But no, the trailer itself is still offensive right? If you're going to argue feminism/women's rights/equal rights/etc. this thread is not the place to do it as:

1) Said scene/fanservice can be considered of minimum sexuality (if even that) when compared to other fanservice scenes of other games.

2) All of here prioritize actual game content and don't give a shit about the trailer.

I've been speculating whether it's Ali Hillis or not and I'm not entirely sure based on the trailer. I guess it's only a matter of time before we find out.

Palutena definitely had the same voice actor as in Uprising, as did Pit.

I'm not really feeling Palutena as a character yet--out of all the newcomers shown so far we have the smallest idea of how she actually plays. Her trailer wasn't very good in this regard, just a mishmash of quick cuts of all of her customizable special moves, very little of her just fighting. Kind of wish she wasn't fully customizable like the Miis either, she seems pretty unfocused. Too bad she's not playable at E3 and didn't get a proper video demonstration like the Mii's. Pac-Man's trailer was also a lot better showing him off. Hrm. She's just kind of "there" for me right now, which is odd considering how much I've been looking forward to her.

But she'll end up having a default move set like everyone else. And also, everyone has some element of customization; she's just got the most of it, since her moves offer more actual differences.

In all reality, I'd love to see them offer 3 official forms of her, each using a specific 4 moves, so each could be used in competitive play.

Would have been really nice to see her and Ike at E3... have missed them both.

The fanservice in her trailer and some comments here are kind of awful, but I am really happy she is playable in the game. Palutena's moveset gimmick looks fun.

Now, if only Sakurai would stop teasing Ridley and reveal him as whatever his role is in the game...

I know exactly how you feel and I'm right there with you, but I'm going to give Sakurai the benefit of the doubt and assume he won't mess up one of the characters closest to him. I'll let myself get excited in the meantime. :-)

i'm pretty sure it's still Ali Hillis, but it seems like they removed the echo effect that the gods and goddesses had on their voices in KI:U.

Yeah, sounds like Ali to me. I say this based on 110+ hours of Kid Icarus Uprising, most of which was played with headphones.

This is amazing

I think it's the same voice actor, she's using a different tone and the quality of the recording seems to be lower than the one in game.

This is amazing

The anime it comes from is amazing too.

Firstly...I want to watch a smash anime! :D

Secondly! Awesome! Palutena is in!

Lastly...
Her trailer has her moveset, so I'm not sure why you're asking if she's a magic user.

She can only have four abilities when you use her - you don't get all of that at once!

If you interpret men saying they desire women as an intonation that you, a woman, is not wanted, I don't know what to tell you. If anything, it should be somewhat empowering when taken in the proper context. When I see a trailer showing off manly strength, or manly sexiness, my first thought is not to feel unwanted.

It's also important to note that you are once again shifting your argument entirely, as well. Initially, you discussed the actions of those viewing the trailer (posters). Then, you moved the discussion to the intentions of the creators. Now, you are talking about the feelings you had through your own perception of the trailer. I think it would be worthwhile for you to figure out which of these three (or maybe a fourth you haven't brought up yet) really bothers you, and stick to it. Also, what you provided is a statement of why this is a problem for you, which is different from this being a general "problem". Regardless, I am done for the night. May you feel better about this scenario.
When your a womenz its not like that.

Cat calling and looking at women like they are sacks of meat make women feel extremely uncomfortable, anxious, angry, embarrassed and even ashamed.

For men it may seem like a compliment, but when it happens to me, my instinct is to hide away and cry. I feel an overwhelming sense of fear from such "compliments." A lot of women really REALLY don't like bring sexualized. It's not a compliment even if YOU would personally take it as one. And saying how women are looked down upon because of their ties to sexuality it makes us feel unwanted and ashamed.

Just think of it this way, when a guy sleeps around its a great superior feeling thing. And when a women sleeps around its a terrible terrible shameful thing that makes her feel inferior. The two things are inverted in every society. (Aaaand they shouldn't be.) the reasoning for this is because women were/are considered used or useless after they stop being virgins while men are obsessed and still are with not being virgins.

When cosplayers dress up in their very special girl outfits to celebrate their fandom and empower themselves, they don't want to be harassed or touched while doing so...despite how it may seem.

A lot of women have done a lot to sever the ties between being a woman and being a mound of flesh for men to stare at. The reason this happened is because they wanted to be considered equal and they couldn't do that when they were constantly sexually harrassed and belittled for being what they were. They were constantly bound to how men saw them and they said screw it.

There needs to be a balance between a man's interest and a woman's dignity. And we're not seeing it in a lot of places where we wish we did. This is apparently a problem in gaming culture which is why people keep bringing it up. It's not even about feminism it's about ethics, or rather the lack of it.

So every time we see another flab of meat a guy would like to do something with...we feel saddened, scared, unwelcome etc. it's not a good environment for women to feel like real humans. If the first thing you think of when you see a girl is if you'd do her or not, then your not exactly treating us with respect.

It won't feel empowering until we're "equals." And then it'll be perfectly fine to "celebrate" women.

Sooooo yeah! Anyways nice character reveal. >__>

I hear you, men and women are just fundamentally different in this regard.

But have you considered the other side of the coin? About how hard it is to be a man and not be ruled by your penis? It's not that we want to look at women as sexual beings all the time, it's that we can't help not to.

Women should, and probably do, feel empowered by the fact that they can manipulate men to get exactly what they want, when they want it. Men can be seen as disposable entertainment, because our feelings are more primitive and not really 'feelings'. We should just hang our head in shame when our biology is telling us that a woman is hot. Right?

Just throwing that out there, have a nice day. :)
