Paragon Open Beta Thead | PC x PS4

How can I claim safe lane in the draft!!

Secret best change with the new map... Left/Right lane during draft actually mean something.

Played a quick match this morning and ran into some amazingly toxic players. Sorry that my Fey wasn't dealing enough damage for your liking random twinblast! That kind of stuff is the only thing that gives me pause about the eventual introduction of VoIP.

Yeah, I like that people don't talk. Same for Overwatch, when a random person starts talking all of a sudden, I fumble trying to figure out how to mute them.

As long as it's opt in, I'm fine with it being added. It is a huge advantage compared to typing more specific directions out. I normally play with a couple friends, and having voice chat would be great in those situations.

I just started playing, and I have no idea what I'm doing yet* but it's pretty fun.

Are player numbers doing okay?

that's an exaggeration, I'm a MOBA vet, but I'm not quite sure of the whole card system and everything yet.

I haven't played this since Blitzcrank came out. Or whatever his name is. Updating it now so I can jump back in and see what awesome new champs I've missed. I imagine this is going to feel like a whole new game at this point.

yup, player numbers are fine, we are almost always getting the community quests done every time, and queue times are short

This game feels way better than last time I played it, buuuut after 1 game I'm done for quite a while again. I'll come back in a month or two and see if they fix my #1 complaint---respawn timers. Same issue I had last time I quit. I'm not playing a game where I get to sit out upwards of 95 seconds after a death. Add all the death timers up and I'm spending 5-10 minutes a game staring at my phone and surfing GAF. Nope...that's not for me.

Don't see that "fixed". Long death times late game are normal for mobas. Especially since Paragon had some problems cutting down the avergae game time to 35 min. 2-3 kills in late game for one team can be the descision for the game, and that is just how it works... They are longer than in other mobas I have played, I give you that. But yeah, it is important to not get killed without purpose, so there should be some punishment.

Yeah, probably not much chance of a significant change in that area. In fact, the last adjustment they did for death timers was to increase the previous maximum time you would be out. Wasn't a huge increase, but still.

I was just hoping they could find a better way to cut down game times without making people sit around so long. I feel like League is long, but they found a good balance. 95 just seems nuts.

They're making an entirely new map and removing travel mode and increasing average speed to compensate with the goal of lowering map playtimes.

Would be awesome if they would give the player something to do in beetween yeah. I mean you should adjust items etc. but how about a 10 sec minigame. 50% luck, 50% skill involved, something really basic. And if you succed you get 5 sec off the timer, if not 5sec added to the timer. And you can try it up to three times. Maybe some 2D half transparent pacman like labyrinth minigame where you have to deliver the orb prime without being eaten. And the labyrinth enemies are mini figures of the actual enemy heroes. Haha :D

Loved the Splatton minigames on the loading screen / matchmaking lobby, would love to see more stuff like that.

Been playing Murdoch with blink shot and its soooo good! Might build a teleblink belica deck next. I dunno why I haven't been putting blinks in my decks earlier lol

Are blinks really worth it though?

Can't seem to convince myself. With Sparrow, I feel like every second you're not building up to carry your team you're hurting them.

Why are you dying so much? Stick to teammates or your towers. The death timer gradually increases, so if die in the first five minutes then the timer is 10 seconds, if you die at 30 minutes then it's 80 seconds.

I hate to say you're playing it wrong, but you're playing it wrong. You shouldn't be dying so much that your respawn timer is that high. It's more important not to die than it is to get kills on the enemy team. You need to be in the game helping your team. Also when you die, it's giving tons of XP to the other team.

Blink on sparrow lets to reposition to continue dps and on Murdock it's broken reposition for the kill then reset city (2 quadras in one game). I normally do it 5/9/10/12/12/12 with my 12 cards being the main dmg starting off as 6 cards for the early spikes.

Decided to stop buying card packs and work on unlocking a master challenge for a character. So far I have the challenge for Gideon, Greystone, Grux, Iggy & Scorch, Lt. Belica, Murdock, Muriel, Sparrow, and Twinblast.

I secretly want to save reputation for Countess, but it will take a while before people are done quitting drafts because she is taken. Dekker looks like a good support character to main, Muriel seems a bit weird, and I don't know how she would do in pickup groups. Muriel will be amazing with that new map comes I bet. Teleport to people in danger over that dense map would be incredible.

Looking forward to the chaos tomorrow.

PSA- if Rampage wants the red buff early game, give it to him. He'll do more good with it than 90% of other characters. K thx.

I'm looking at you, jackass Kwang who decided to jungle when we already have two junglers and leave a lane wide open.

I consider blinks an essential part of Sparrow's kit. If you're last hitting consistently 5 points isn't anything.

Anyone playing right now? I really don't feel like pubbing after dealing with aforementioned idiot Kwang.

My game loaded up with low graphics settings for some reason. Holy crap Countess looks awful on low settings. Her entire outfit is entirely dependent on her leather shader. Without it she's just a flat grey mess.

Ok I'm liking Muriel. I haven't been able to start with a Countess to help her get to high levels yet. People always leave one lane open and I have to go to it. I like not having to worry about last hit so much. I'm going to unlock Decker's Master Challenge for sure, unless the next character is support.

Muriel is probably my favorite character. I'm still a little upset that they introduced scarab claws into the game. Muriel, Dekker, and Narbash are all decent enough supports. I'm also hoping for another support soon, but a ranger needs to show up first.

I tried Countess out in a bot match just to see what she was like. She's interesting but I'm still not sold on the assassins. Played a PvP match after that and the first two picks on our team were a Countess and Kallari. I was praying for someone to dodge....... And then we wound up winning.

That looks pretty.

Im sorry but Rampage and Countess are two of the most broken characters in the game. You shouldnt be able to tower dive using your Ultimate. There should be at least some kind of punishment for doing so. Both these characters can easily pop in, do some damage WITHIN YOUR TOWER, and then hop back out. Why am i getting ONE SHOT by Countess.

This is worse for rampage because he can take out any tower with a large enough healthpool using this tactic. He's basically indestructible and you a sitting duck as you wait for his ult to go away.

have they still not added crafting? I remember they promised that a long time ago. I didnt want to invest time into a MOBA/CCG that lacked crafting

Crafting?

yup, 1 hit kill

Yup, quick run down of my matches last night (we won all 3).

Countess was on all 3 teams.

Was a huge liability.

We had to know her position at all times.

Fortunately for us, the last team didn't really have a good one or perhaps my Khaimera was too tanky. But the previous 2 matches, I ran Sparrow, and she'd instantly KO me or come close enough where all it took were two more abilities to wipe me. I couldn't do anything.

Once I went in jungle to quickly swipe red orb, and she came out of nowhere and ult'd me, killed me, and took the orb. This was literally right after I respawned. One of my quickest deaths ever, and it happened in our jungle. I suppose that's the way some characters are, they stand no chance in 1v1 situations, but countess almost demands 2v1 if you even want a chance of escape with some characters.

I really want to like this game, but most times someone disconnects, or everyone wants to get the kill a runs leaving everything open for the other team to push, or some there is some "jungler" that does nothing.

The good games(no even the ones I win), are few and far between, but I guess most mobas are like this?, this one is the first one I have put more than a couple of hours in.

The toxicity, afk, dc, feeding and general arsehole player count is about as average as it gets in a moba unfortunately.

Try and brute force your way through it, because there is an amazing game in there, I've clocked in 400+hrs so far. Paragon is about as good as it gets imo.

After playing some more, I don't think Countess is actually broken, however, the current meta is in favor of junglers by a large margin. It's honestly pretty ridiculous.

The bullshit is tiring, 2 junglers just matching through the jungle taking all our camps and killing our junglers early. Like what the fuck is that?

Then eventually your team is so behind because they are preventing your team from building harvesters and you have laners that don't know how to properly push or rotate. I mean ffs man.

My favorite is junglers who have no idea what they are doing. They'll come by and get their kills occasional. But when it comes to sustaining lanes or pushing, forget about it.

Travel mode cannot be removed soon enough. It benefits the fighters way too much.

Think the wider, "more open" space will lead to more "wait and gather, then team vs. team" fights. I really like the current map, but this also looks great. Alltough a lot more grittier and darker, excited for left/right lane preview. Save / Offlane concept sounds cool. Hopefully it isn't ruined by "MY FIRST GAME BUT I'M THE GREATEST" noobs. I would like some onscreen arrows or adivise for unexperienced players to go there,
