Path of Exile reaches its highest concurrent player count ever on steam (98k+)

I tried it once and stopped almost immediately because of (what seemed like) a needlessly complex skill tree. I'm open to trying it again but they really should have some automatic mode built in (if they don't already by now) because I don't want to deal with that shit.

I tried it and the fundamental gameplay was pretty fun other than the antiquated control scheme (maybe they'll bring the console port controls back into the PC version?)

Overall I think it's way to addictive for me though (I played about 8 hours this weekend and now wish I had done something else) so I've decided to play it safe and uninstall

I might consider trying it again if they shrunk the levels down a bit and added more waypoints so you don't lose your mapping progress if you stop playing in the middle of a quest for too long. The way it's set up now it feels like a more sinister version of the "Just one more turn" phenomenon from Civilization

Finishing my 2nd set of labs this game is infinitely better now that you never run through the main game in loops.

Them boss and god fights are too good.

Steam is as convenient as it gets. If the developers want to make it harder for me to play their game, I'm happy to skip it.

Maybe you should direct your comments at Valve and not GGG, because perhaps it's Steam and not GGG that is putting up the region block?

It's your loss though.

Er no it's not Valve. Why would you even think so? Developers and publishers decide themselves which regions they want to block their game in. Steam has no say.

A quick Google shows PoE devs seem to have a deal with Garena in parts of Asia, including China, so yeah, fuck that.

This game is nothing short of incredible. One of the most dedicated dev teams out there, that honestly just want their game to be as good as it can be.

I'm new to it. I went with a 2 handed Cyclone build but I really enjoy the totem skills and might restart. Once I wrapped my mind around the crafting items being used as currency I was fine. They should try to add build guide support like DOTA 2 has but all of that stuff is easy to find on Google.

I cant wait for this to come to consoles. I love these games but click to move is not my preferred control scheme.

Have nearly 300 hours in PoE, the hands down best F2P game on the market, which is why i've probably spent £150 on cosmetics and stash tabs lol

Freaking love this game.

For anyone struggling with the skill tree I recommend going on their forums and finding a character build you like the sound off and following that. I still do that at nearly 300 hours played.

I do that too. Currently leveling Neversink's Tornado raider.

Me probably too over the years lol, thats the power of F2P if you make it right...its well deserved.

Speaking of which. Anybody found a good Storm Burst build? Looks fun to play but did not find any real tested build for it yet (which I guess makes sense since it's so early in the new league...).

AFAIK, the jury is still out on that skill. I haven't seen non-theorycrafted builds so far.

I'm part of this surge too as my housemate finally got me into PoE. Currently in Act 2 with a Frostblades Ranger and really enjoying it.

Mine is still in the leveling stage. The basic idea is to use Storm Burst - Cast while channeling - Glacial Cascade and pick up Elemental Equilibrium to boost the damage of both skills. Basically, the first SB hit reduces their cold resistance, then GC hits which reduces Lightning res and after the proc you stop channeling to activate the burst. It works pretty well even without EE, but if it turns out to work the way I expect it to, I should get a considerable damage boost.

Sad to see they sold out to Garena for where I live, so no steam version for me.

I backed this too and played hours. Nothing transfers over to that shit show spyware Garena.

I never stick to "builds" in honesty. Each of my characters have evolved from what I've picked up lootwise and I've found is working. I had a lovely little Cast While Cha... combo going during the last league but it sent my PC into single FPS, heh.

The true Diablo 2 sequel. It's so good. And it feels like they sped up leveling in the early phase too or am I crazy? I'm already level 35 or something and I recall the start of the game being a little tedious when you restarted.

My PC is so shit that dynamic resolution made it into a NES game. Had to roll it back DX9 in options.

Haha same here I can sustain 40-60 FPS (60 solid in caves / areas with little foliage) but at lowest settings and 800x600 res.

Surface Pro i5. Intel HD graphics has still got a serious way to go before it becomes properly competitive.

I want to get some stash tabs so I can finally give this game a proper chance. I was told they'd be running a sale this week. Does anyone know when it's supposed to start?

This is probably my favorite game at the moment. I've sunk 2000+ hours into it over the years. It really deserves all the success and I hope more mainstream sites / game personalities pick this game up so more people can see what a gem of a game this is.

They'll probably do them this week starting wednesday or maybe thursday. They are usually on sale every other week.

I didn't realize it had hit that high on steam with the launch of 3.0.

That's honestly amazing. I've been playing the game since closed beta and the amount of changes and additions since then has been nothing short of phenomenal. Can't wait to see what happens within the next year.

Does it have a viable pet class or build?

I'm currently following this summoner build. I'm still leveling with the Summon Raging Spirits and haven't actually broken out the spectres yet. I'm near the end of Act 4 and haven't died yet, so so far so good.

If you just want to min/max, a Summon Raging Spirits build is probably the best summoner build, but I think having a meat shield of zombies along with raised undead monsters covering the screen in projectiles is cooler.

I always loved having like nearly 50 SRS out (pre-patch), a bunch of zombies, a spectre and then popping Vall Summon Skeletons.

Soo many health bars lol

Just entered Act 9, this is my favourite game on Steam - it's too good. The new boss fights have been pretty damn sweet.

Been messing around with Fire Nova Mines lately, Level 68 at the moment.

This update makes it feel like a new game.

Well, you can still use standalone version from the site, right? Personally I think that non-Steam client is better one. Steam takes looooooooong time processing patches for PoE - I had enough :)

Yeah but you know how it is.

Garena succkkksss.

That's my build and it's very nice. gonna hit maps today at some point.

I like the build but it's the definition of glass cannon especially since his 3.0 update gets rid of soul raker (and thus the need for the lioneye gem).

I guess I'll have to start to manually generate endurance charges...

Got in the Xbox One beta on the very first day and the game is dope. Really reminds me of Diablo 2 despite me never really playing it. Two friends tried to get me into Diablo 2 back in the day but I never went for it since I was more into fighting games and shooters. But I always dug the atmosphere and look of the game and get that here with Path of Exile.

And amazingly it's all free and it's so deep too. Gotta hop back into it this week since I really didn't have the time to play lately.

The complexity of the skill tree is far from useless, the numerous amount of nodes and possibilites is what helps the game have a good number of diverse builds. It's also a lot less daunting if you sit down for a few minutes and just look it over and use the search bar. It's always good to get a lot of life and/or energy shield from your tree so type those in and start working towards those. If you're use a skill that is cold damage type in cold or elemental damage and work towards that. If you're using a bow or wand, type those in and work towards those, etc.

If it's still to overwhelming, you can go to the official forums under class/builds and find the class you're using and a skill you want to build around and they'll provide you with a tree to follow exactly.

I'm use to the style so loving the frenzy charges over the flasking path finder, though that was pretty nice and broke itself in 2.6. Never got to use soul raker on my build all that much, lacked the acuity gloves so using raker and the gem wasn't viable for me.

Neither raider or pathfinder are the squish of dead eye to me.

I'm with you on casting enudrance charges but at least its not building up frenzy manually.

hooked as fuuuck, expansion rules - i put 120~ hrs into the beta and just came back for the expansion and have played like 30 in a week and a half. never spent a dime, tempted to just to show love though. by far the best f2p game and true d2 successor.
