PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

im excited to try this. For me the Xbox one controller is a huge upgrade over the 360 controller.

Now when are we getting new colors? I will use the one that came with my XB1 but I refuse to own multiple controllers that are the same color.

I considered the Titanfall controller but im not a big fan of that one.

Personally I wouldn't buy one if you already have a working 360 controller. Keep in mind, is say the same thing in regards to the ps4 controller.
Monoprice has solid prices on extra long USB cables for those that need them
I haven't personally used the XBO controller, but I believe both the DS4 and XBO controllers are considered upgrades over the 360 pad.

Choose which one feels better to you ergonomically.

Thanks. From that I assume the DS4 already have PC drivers that also work well with everything ?

Unofficial drivers, but yea they work well apparently (including the touchscreen controlling the cursor). The main drawback is every game will have onscreen buttons matching the XBO controller, not the PS4 controller.

Waaaaay better. Feels better in the hand, analog stick tension isn't super loose, bumpers are better and can be pushed regardless of where your finger sits, etc. The only thing the One controller has on the 360 one is the dpad.
Which, frankly, is probably enough for some of us. This makes it a far more versatile controller, and while I prefer the DualShock form factor for that the actual D-Pad quality was PROBABLY a bigger problem than the position. Or at least i don't recall being THAT annoyed with it on Xbox, Saturn, or Dreamcast.

Though, newer games taking advantage of the rumble triggers would add a mildly interesting wrinkle. It'll be rumble I more reliably notice before I tune it out anyway, though maybe being directly on my fingers I'll keep noticing it?

I hope more and more developers start to realize that the 360 pad isn't the default controller anymore. They likely already have assets available for the PS4 version of the game, so include Playstation button prompts with the release. Allow us to switch between our preferences within the menu system.

Transistor did this in a way, Supergiant natively supported the DS4 out of the box including prompts and use of the lightbar.

Microusb to usb.

All the controllers are wireless but can connect to pc (and the xbox one) via micro usb to usb cables. Also, when connected through usb all inputs are sent through the usb cable, not wirelessly.

Ok awesome, thanks for the details!

This is great news, now it's only a few more steps to the dream.

4 players, 4 different controllers.

Xbone.
DS4.
WiiU Pro
And 360

All living in harmony.

Yep, you're right, got them confused. No rumble in SSF4 steam edition.

Sonic Racing Transformed however....lawd!

Best rumble reaction yet, nice and strong.

Oh man, you weren't kidding. Just completed a lap in Sonic Racing Transformed and it was amazing even without the rumble triggers.

So wait there are actually games already released that use the rumble triggers?

It's not utilizing them like Xbone games do, like how Forza can use either side separately. It's more of a generic rumble you feel in them, but still, it feels damn good.

Getting issues with opening Borderlands 2 now, and I'm getting an error after exiting games. Minor issues, and hopefully it fixes itself when I restart my computer later, just at lunch so can't see if there are any other issues. Dark Souls 2 seems to work completely fine with the controller. I was actually surprised to see that the drivers were correctly switched as I had messed around with non-official drivers/ solutions from someone else.

That's not correct the PC Controller actually released before the Xbox 360 even launched. I remember sitting in my house with the controller and no console.

That was only the wired version, though.

The wireless dongle didn't appear until some time in 2007, IIRC.

Good news, but my gaming PC sits right next to the consoles in my media room, therefore wireless is required. Hopefully it won't take them long to release a USB wireless adapter and the appropriate drivers.

I bought MK complete edition this week in anticipation of having a controller with a good dpad one day and here it is :) Also I can finally play all those platformers now

Very nice, was getting tired of my 360 controller, that thing has taken a beating over the years.

Went out during lunch and got me one :D

Beautiful news!

I've been using my DS4 pretty flawlessly, but I think I'm going to pick up an Xbox One controller to mess around with it!

Hmmmm... That sounds great! I'm still wondering whether I should get a DS4 or an xbox one controller to replace my old wired 360 controller. But official support kinda makes me lean towards the xbox one controller.

You would think the margins would be quite high on controller sales and Sony would be motivated to move on official support due to FFXIV and SOE.

Hey Microsoft! Where are the drivers for the best controller of all time?

My hands are huge.

lol! Funny thing is I still use my duke from time to time. This was one of my best purchases back in the day. Man I miss the breakaway cable days. Saved my console from falling so many times!

Does this work on PC games? Seriously grew to love the duke. Not particularly effective, but comfy as fuck.

Actually, if you want to get specific, the original xbox controllers used plain old USB with a proprietary connector. You could just hack off the end and solder on a regular USB end and it would work just like any other controller.

Something I did back in the day was actually have a spare breakaway that had both the Xbox connector and a USB cable split. It made it so I could easily swap in any xbox controller into my computer.

Here's a guide on how to do it. It's quite simple to do, even if you don't have any soldering experience.

I prefer the DS4 as a controller - but I as I said earlier in the thread - I ordered another XB1 controller just for my PC solely because of the official support. I don't like having to run the wrapper for the DS4.

The XB1 is a great controller, and I think overall it is an improvement over the 360 controller. The only thing counting against the XB1 controller is the bumpers, and they aren't great - but you get used to them eventually.

daaaamn i need to buy an xbone controller asap

loved it when i tried it at the mall. like a lexus or luxury controller in build quality.

ds4 is pretty good, but first party drivers >>> custom

To the people talking about the Duke: Sadly, the drivers dont work with Windows 8 :( Who wouldnt want to use a beauty like this?

Still prefer the DS4 because of the touchpad (that way I can play from far away without a mouse), but this is pretty awesome. Hope Spencer really can get some better PC support going.

Since when? It's the only one that works right out the box on everything.

bumpers are perfect if you hold the controller correctly.
Lol of course it's my fault. After all, this is the first controller with shoulder buttons I've ever used. /s
The excuses for the shitty bumpers are truly fascinating. Last time I said the bumpers sucked in another thread, someone said that it's because I'm pressing them in like buttons rather than rolling my finger over them.

Wow, the Bone controller costs 70 euros? Gonna hold off on it for a while then, I just bought a wireless adapter for the 360 controller. Still though, great that they finally released the drivers.

It's a shame that Nintendo use mini USB for the Wii U Pro Controller. That cable would have been perfect for this. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to buy another cable that is longer than the ridiculously short cable I have for my phone.
