PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

I assume there's been no mention of the headset not working? I really hope they make it work at some point. Sucks having to keep my 360 controller around just to use the headset for voice chat, and don't want to buy a dedicated one.

IDK, but if the driver is essentially emulating the 360 controller, (dunno if it is) I wonder if the extended capabilities of the xbone controller are even accessible to the PC.

Do any games or programs have the ability to discern an xbone controller from a 360 controller?

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed does.

Some games like Thief 2014 are equipped with an extra set of proper X1 button prompts/icons. It is actually pretty cool and you can see it change back and forth on the fly.

Will I be able to play two-player PC games with a wired 360 controller and an Xbox One controller? Assuming that the game reads xinput.

What if Microsoft just decides to never make it wirelessly compatible?

They said they'd do it I think. First step was getting the drivers out and having the controller be functional. Next will probably come some sort of wireless solution.

You mean you tried it with a 360 controller and an XBONE controller and it switched the key icons wehn you played with one and then the other? Cool!

That's what it says in game?

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed use the impulse triggers. Albeit they are seen as one and not seen as two separate rumble motors.

Don't the impulse triggers work together as normal/legacy rumble in games that only explicitly support the 360 controls?

Need to try this. Just got an Xbone and the controller is pretty great.

It has to be wired, right? Do you just get a special hookup like 360 or would a USB work?

Was thinking about getting a Xbox One controller for the PC. I thought about a Dualshock 4 but I didn't want to risk it to much but, I am curious what I have seen from other sites.

While looking around I saw some of PC World's impressions on it and they have a few games they had problems with (Dark Souls 2, Transistor Dishonered). I was wondering if anyone else had problems like these, or if any other games just wouldn't cooperate with the Xbox One controller?

Is there a way to have the Xbox icon button become useful?

I would really like to use it as a mumble PTT button.

I've not had a single issue at all. Controller works perfectly with every game I have tried. I haven't even had yo fiddle with any settings because the games automatically recognise the controller is plugged in.

If that's the only thing holding you bcaovack from getting the controller then I recommend you but it. Works perfectly for me.

Great controller as well.

I doubt it'll ever happen (like with the 360 pad), but that would be awesome. I'm currently using my DS4 touchpad as a Mumble PTT button and it's been great.

I was using that on my DS4 and loved it too. It has the bonus of being easy to reach with either hand.

I wish controllers came with a native PTT button for chat. I hate open mics.

Are their any games that use the rumble triggers yet?
Loving my X1 controller, can't believe Microsoft was able to improve so much on what I thought was already perfection (360 controller)

Ah thanks for the reply, maybe it was the way they had it set up or something. I tried the controller in a store and the improved D-Pad is more than enough of a reason for me to get it.

I've been loving the fact that I can use the Xbox One Controller with all the indie games I'm buying on Steam. However, I just bought Splinter Cell Blacklist and it's giving me trouble. Has anyone been able to get the Xbox One Controller to work with Blacklist?

I've had no problems at all so far on Windows 8.1 64-bit, with anything, including Dark Souls II. I see PC World is running Windows 7, so that could be it.

I hope that isn't the case. I might give it a shot anyway and see how it goes on Windows 7.

EDIT: I went ahead and picked one up and playing it on my PC. I already had the 360 drivers on the PC so I dont know how much that effected anything but I downloaded the x64 XB1 PC drivers they installed, then plugged in the controller and I got some runtime error, despite that the driver installed fine. Played some games on GGPO and now Skullgirls and everything seems to work. Ill give some other games a shot in a bit an update this post.

Sry for the bump but i have a question for those who use this controller on Xbox One and PC. When i connect the controller to my pc it vibrates and connects, and it works perfectly.

After i disconect from PC, if i use it on Xbox One it doesnt work unless i turn on the console and press the sync button on the controller, after a while it starts working. Is htis normal or am i doing something wrong?

Thx.

There's a sync button on the left side of the xbox one if you want to sync immediately. I think the system looks for syncing controllers automatically using kinect and the IR but it's slower than just pushing the sync button on the console. Personally, I find it easier to have a micro USB cable always plugged into the back of the xbox one. I just plug into the cable until it's recognized in a few seconds and then unplug.

So...its normal that after it being connected to a PC it automatacly de-sync from Xbox One.? Ok, thx.
Now if they released the wireless adaptor...

Well shit. Looks like I can't tell the difference between a mini and micro USB cable. My Xbox One pad just came in today but I realized the 9ft USB cable I had didn't fit. I decided against buying another one online with the pad because I couldn't find a deal I liked on one of similar length, and all the ones at brick & mortar cost like three times as much.

Play & Charge kit? Edit: Hell no. Guess I'll just accept some shady-looking deal on Amazon.

Have a little issue with controller (apart from awful bumpers), when you boot up windows gamepad start vibrating a couple of seconds, this can be very irritating (especially at night).
Time to pester mjnelson about this?

Just bought an Xbone controller. I like it so far but feels cheap compared to PS4 controller. And does anyone know if there's a game that has trigger rumble feature I can try?

Not sure if it's just when playing awesomenauts but when I type using the keyboard the controller disconnects and leaves the kb in control. I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to reconnect. Anyone else having this problem, or is it game specific?

Monoprice?

Yeah, on promo photos gamepad looks like premium product, but in real life not so much

I couldn't disagree more. My PS4 controller's triggers are all squeaky and it just feels like some cheap knock-off controller in that regard. Hopefully when I buy a second controller later on the issue will be fixed.

AFAIK, there are no PC games that can use the rumble triggers. I believe that while the PC detects the Xbox One controller as a separate device to a 360 controller, to games they just act like 360 controllers to maintain backwards compatibility.

So a month later, is anyone having major issues? I want to pick up this thing as my main PC controller, and if there's no major problems across the board I'm definitely sold on it.

And then when Microsoft releases that wireless adapter I will be in heaven

No problems on my end.
Works better than my PS3 controller.

Works great when it works, but I had to download hacked drivers to get it to work with some games like Dark Souls 2, and still haven't gotten it to work with Garden Warfare.

I haven't had any issues. Works perfect with every Steam game I've tried it on- from Metro to Kingdoms of Amalur. My only complaint is that even when it's plugged into the computer (no wireless option, of course), if I want to use it wirelessly with my Xbox One again I have to re-sync it which is annoying.

I get error messages when I plug in that are easily ignored. Beyond that it's worked great for me.

Oh, THAT's why it wasn't working. I thought my space sim flightstick thing was confusing Dark Souls 2 even though the XBone pad works fine in every other XInput game.

Aside from that DS2 issue, I'm very happy with the controller. It's basically the 360 stick plus a better d-pad.

Not yet. My guess is Microsoft will release wireless dongles sometime next year.

Dammit, just bought one today assuming official drivers = connect via bluetooth. Weird that I can use a DS4 wirelessly but not an X1 controller on PC.

How come nobody has written a DS4Tool type thing for X1 controller?

The Xbox One controller connects via a proprietary signal, much as the 360 controller did. It doesn't use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct to connect.
