PC Gamer's "best PC games of 2014"

Hey where's Wharhammer 40k: Total War?

Oh it doesn't exist yet. Well why the fuck not?!

Same here. I kept revisiting PC Gamer's 2013 list throughout the year to keep track of what had come out, how each game fared, etc.

I hope people don't get tripped up on the "best" labeling. It's just their catchy way of saying the games they look forward to most.

i just looked at the list for 2013...Fornite? looks awesome..no updates since 2011 lol

I simply cannot wait for the Deus Ex iOS spinoff port to PC title. Nothing about that sentence sounds terrible!

Thanks to a wobbly time-portal plot device, fan favourites like Grom Hellscream return in a pointed shift away from the colourful, happy. huggy Mists of Pandaria expansion.

This was written by crazy folks.

I'm surprised at how many kickstarter projects got listed in their article. Especially in the adventure, puzzle, platforming and RPG categories. It's nice to see a lot of smaller crowd funded games fill in the gaps in those genres.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 hahahaha

Yeah, this and Prey 2 caught my attention.

There's no way in hell Pillars of Eternity is coming out in 2014. Obsidian couldn't even ship a 2D South Park RPG on time.

The thought of them releasing two MAJOR games in one year gives me a fucking belly laugh. I pledged $110 (minimum for Beta) and I would be surprised if I'm even playing the Beta this year.

Not that I'm willing to put money down that they could, South Park development was probably hindered somewhat by the fact that the publisher went down the toilet halfway through the project. They did manage to get both Alpha Protocol and New Vegas out in 2010, then DS3 in 2011.

I just need to upgrade mine...

Mmm, yeah, pretty surprised they didn't include Trails in the Sky FC and SC in ther RPG list.

But anyway, RPG, Sim and Strategy categories are looking solid.

They put out two of the buggiest games at launch of 2010, wooo.

Since Pillars of Eternity is self-published with no corporate overlords forcing them to kick it out the door half-baked, I expect it to be polished at release. I just don't think they can get that done in 2014, but we shall certainly see, won't we?

It won't be a 2014 game. That game will be huge. They'll certainly need the extra time to create all the content, do a proper Beta and a proper QA process on top of that. They know they have to hit this one out of the park.

Did you mean "the two best games of 2010"?

Anyway regardless, I was mostly just pointing out that when considering the huge delays South Park has experienced it's worth remembering that the publisher which started the project no longer exists, and was circling the drain financially for some time before they finally got booted off life support.

Hopefully that delay into 2014 will give them some time to improve Rambo's character model so that it can be "One of the Best PC games of 2014"... lol.

They got his weird crooked abs right, that's impressive

The EXPLORATION AND SURVIVAL category gets me VERY VERY excited, quite a lot of cool games. Just hope most are actually released and of highish quality.

As soon as I was done reading the whole list, the thought of buying a console this year has been erased.

God bless the glorious master race.

Exploration and Survival - new genre but the best one (along with RPGs). After seeing this list I'll rethink buying next-gen console right now and look closer to pc games.

It's reasonable to criticize this list for including games that will likely not be out until 2015 (Sometimes even explicitly so), but the other truth is, as many said, a large number of great games will be released that we don't know even exist yet during 2014 because the PC space is so fluid. I suspect the latter considerably outweigh the former, as it typically does.

No mention of the City builder Banished which should be releasing very soon.
As an Anno fan I'm really looking forward to it.

My god at that RPG list though. Goodbye life.
