I probably play more FPS on controller because my main PC is hooked up to my TV, but I always want to be playing with keyboard and mouse.

So there was always that deep appreciation for high-speed shooters, but I gotta say that Hugo Martin finishing Doom Eternal on Ultra Violence using an Xbox controller was what convinced me that playing shooters with gamepad is its own distinct niche and gaming culture, and so now rather than being annoyed with the neck brace aiming as Topher puts it, that handicap feels like an additional skill challenge to overcome that brings me enjoyment, and I credit Itagaki's philosophy of embracing hard difficulty with Ninja Gaiden 2 Black for that, because I disliked playing shooters with gamepad before that *clicked* with me.

For the vote, naturally the answer is MKB, of course it is, but if you enjoy being part of that niche culture who heavily leans into that aiming challenge with gamepad, because it makes you play games like Doom with very different strategies than on PC, using a controller can be pretty cool too

Yeah, KBM for vast majority of first person titles unless they are car racers or flight games where I may use a controller, a wheel or a flight stick depending on the title.

I just can't play FPS well on a controller.

Fact : a decent player with M/K has aHUGE advantage over a controller because it's so easy to use. It was literally a huge thing when console announced some game could use MK.

doesn't matter if there a little battle of skill after that because its effortless point a click its still huge advantage over controllers.

where a player playing the same game with a controller has to be a master of that game to even not run around looking at the sky or floor the whole time. lol

both, i'm fine with two styles, but depend on the games actually. single player, should be controller for me. LAN / Online, mouse will be used. I'm adaptive with both

Lately I've been playing a lot more on MKB than I used to. Even third‑person games that I normally play on controller, I now kinda default to MKB for. The only exceptions are racing games, fighters, metroidvanias, flight games and a few others.

KB/M only. I can't do it with a controller at all anymore. Halo 2 was the last fps I could play with a controller and I was damn good at it. But I moved on and have almost completely lost the ability to play fps with a controller which is rather frustrating since pulling the camera back solves it all

I can kinda deal with it in Resident Evil and that's mostly because I just love the franchise.

I'm someone who despise being a lifelong "PC first" user never had any issue to play with a controller when I think it's a better fit for the type of game I'm approaching (i.e. Souls-like and other console-derivate action games, sport games, etc).
In fact, I actively prefer a controller in these cases.

That premise just to say: FUCK ME sideways if I'm ever going to play a first person game or a management/city builder game with anything other than mouse and keyboard.

I actually don't play that many fps games on PC, but it depends.

I work with computers all day so if I'm playing after work the last thing I want to do is play a game with a keyboard and mouse.

I put 100 hours into FFXIV on controller. I played on PS4/PS5 though.

Where is the option for both? If I'm couch gaming on PC I use controller, but if I'm at my desk I (typically) use M&K. Been a while, but with COD I wound up switching to controller even at my desk setup as the auto aim was strong and coming from Xbox360 background it just felt right.

I was just assuming first person shooters. For driving games it's mainly wheel and some controller - never KB/M. For flight sims it's always flight stick even for games designed for controller like Ace Combat.

Indeed, but I still maintain what I said. It's like playing Fifa with a keyboard, you do you of course but that doesn't make any sense to me.

Plenty of first person games are slow enough to be played comfortably with a gamepad.

But yeah to each their own, it's cool to have options. I've heard of people playing games like Dragon's Dogma or Sekiro with KB&M and that sounds like madness to me lol, but options are nice.

Well, now that I think about, XCOM 1 & 2 (the modern ones) play better on controller on PC, imo. I should've thought of that, considering I've put hundreds of hours into them.

Yeah, for strategy games I don't get how people are playing say Paradox Studios games with a controller. That would drive me absolutely insane!

Hell, even for CRPGs like BG3 or Pathfinder or Rogue Trader, etc… I don't have the patience to even attempt controller based gameplay.

I've been gaming on PC for so long that I cannot aim properly using a controller. If the game requires any kind of accuracy, I have to use keyboard and mouse. I have a controller for my PC, but I rarely use it unless a game requires it or I'm feeling particularly lazy/tired.

Some console ports like Doom 2016 are better on controller because they have inconsistent frame pacing during action and very good aim assist for controllers.

Skyrim is a lot lot nicer with controller if you do melee and need to switch between 1st and 3rd person.

Finally the Doom1/2 and Heretic/Hexen ports are fine with controller.

Yeah, I guess what I really meant is which do you mostly use . I might've worded it differently but I forgot about flight sims, which no one should play with mouse and keyboard lol, until after I made the poll.
