IMO it's not worth the price of admission to chase the bleeding edge tech, but I'm far from being a graphics enthusiast.
I do think it's well worth it to keep a mid-range gaming PC around for exclusives and/or games you'd prefer to play on mouse & keyboard. Plus the ultimate in backwards compatibility....sometimes I'll opt for a PC release of a game because I think "do I really want to have to worry about having the PS4 hooked up if I want to play this again in ten years?"
