People who listen to video game OSTs and nothing else

I definitely think it's somewhat sad to say "I only listen to OSTs." It reminds me of a brain washed victim of a cult. If you changed the perspective you could say, "I only listen to musicians from France." It's such an obscure preference that it makes you question the mental state of the person making the exclamation. I'll be honest, there are MANY OSTs that just suck, and they outnumber the good ones 10:1...easily. Hell, they vary considerably as well.
I personally dig "Stubbs the Zombie" soundtrack. It sits as a great soundtrack (reimagining the classics) when side by side with "classics" from Nobuo Uematsu. The range is ridiculous however and you could see how saying "I only listen to OST's" seems a bit close minded.

That said, there's little you can do to change their mind. Let them enjoy their music. I'm sure it brings them immense joy as anything else brings torment. I say learn to enjoy some of that music too. Perhaps they simply SAY they only like OST in the way some people say, "I hate country" or "I hate rap" (which I've heard often.) Perhaps in reality they just dislike MOST.

That said... I also enjoyed the soundtracks for "Lumines", "Phantom Crash", "Wipeout", "Forza" (like...all of them), Uematsu's work, and the "Wild 9" soundtrack. Sure, there's more, but hey... we could all throw our favorite soundtracks to games. On a side note: Listening to a different OST while playing another game is crazy... and sometimes leads to crazy game experiences. -Adam

You sound as if there is something wrong with listening to specific kinds of music, and ignoring others???
More like it sounds as if he's thankful that he found music outside a specific genre or in this case video game music because he ended up really liking it. If you're in the mood to pick a fight tho, the I can see why you would think that.

More jokey response than serious criticism... Diversity is Good!

Or it could be interpreted as a subtle judgment about people who don't do as he does. He could have left out 'thankfully' and used 'later on,' or some other beginning variant, that doesn't have those overtones.

Of course, this is assuming he typed it with that intent, but I've typed my share of comments that inflamed without my meaning to.
