Persona 4 Dancing All Night |OT| Aha! Is This Our Dance?

Rise's new voice is really bad..did they change anyone else?

I think Rise's voice change is the only new voice change in this game. There have been a lot of voice changes for the main cast since the original release of P4 though. I think Chie, Rise, Kanji, & Teddie all have new voice actors. I believe even Margaret's & Naoto's voices have changed as well, though I am not 100% sure on these two.

You know, I'm really sick of hearing this. Her new voice isn't too bad, and I got used to her quickly. It's not exact; it won't be, because it's a different person. Her original VA had a scheduling conflict and couldn't voice this game. Plain and simple. It's nobody's fault. It happens. Get over it.

It's pretty bad. Not enough to ruin the game but still not good. Nothing you can do about a scheduling conflict though.

Either way, I would like for them to try something different with the Persona series.

I see no indicative of P5 following the same path as P3/P4, or at least I hope it doesn't and it stands on it's own.

I mean... problem solved? Spin-offs aren't going to have the level of (narrative) depth you want from a mainline game. Meanwhile, Persona 5 makes it fully apparent that they are willing to diverge significantly from what people expect after getting used to Persona 4.

Disco Fever Edition was waiting for me when I got home today. Having the full soundtrack, and not a sampler, puts this above most other CE's for me. And has anyone with a Vita 1000 cobbled up the skin yet? I'm wondering how that would look even though I'm not doing it.

As for the game, it's probably my first rhythm game in a couple years. Guess what my first trophy was:
Fashion Police, for changing a costume. But the next one was Empty Seats :(.
I figured out how to play after failing out a few times, albeit on easy.

That's why I am expecting this is last P4 title that involves a story.
I really want them to make a pure rhythm game or fighting game again, just no need to shove a story.

I have high hopes for the story and gameplay of P5. If anything, I want it to be great and very different from what we saw in P3 and P4.

Noticed this game rating thing on Best Buy's website on pages for video games.

Kind of made me want to see what they say about the other games.

Kind of made me want to see what they say about the other games.
Persona 4 Golden: "Mature RPG with turn-based violence, sex, and profanity."

...........only the comments section talk about the whole "accepting people for who they are & understanding that we're all flawed, but that's okay & it's what makes us who we are" thing the game is rather known for.

if the system doesn't get scratched while using the pouch, how's it useless?

Its larger than the vita and has a pocket for storage. Whatever is in storage like a game case it could scratch because nothing is secured. It also has a huge zipper on the top that going in and out could scratch the case/screen easily. Then it does not protect the unit itself because its softsided, unlike the last persona case. I guess I thought it would be simiIar to the last case. My bad. What I also meant by useless was like the person I was orginally responding to was giving his away, I would never use this thing because it is ugly in my opinion (others will vary, thats cool). Looks like a woman's clutch purse (I think they call them) from the 70s. Great if that is what you want or if you normally like carrying purses.

The purpose is to summarize the rating and the reasoning behind it, not expound on the game's themes. Same goes for the ESRB description for P4D (story spoilers).

Turn based sex? I must have missed that

The biggest problem with Rise's voice is that it's Ashly Burch....all I can hear is her. She doesn't have a whole lot of range, and all I can hear is her skits from HAWP.

Something something Rise's dungeon &/or Mara reference.

So is the LE still available for purchase online? GS' site doesn't have it available anymore, & I don't know how much longer Amazon will have it.

Spin-offs aren't going to have the level of (narrative) depth you want from a mainline game.

That's ignoring the fact that Persona itself is a spin-off of the main Megami Tensei series and that the narrative in the main Persona titles (Revelations notwithstanding) is full of rich characters and memorable moments of, more often than not, deep stories that explores Jungian psychology (to varying degrees depending on the game). That aside, there are plenty of spin-offs and side-stories to franchises that many would argue are as good, if not, better than the main ones like Final Fantasy Tactics.

It also doesn't excuse the, frankly, sloppily written story that ended up in an otherwise good rhythm game that amounted to nothing more than one long, drawn-out damsel in distress sequence filled with weak connections between dancing and the concept of one's persona but I digress.

We are literally almost 20 years past that; "Persona is a spin-off of SMT" has lost all relevance as a point, especially since it has overtaken mainline SMT both in popularity and in scope. For those other spin-offs... are they rhythm games? Fighting games? These two genres are not ones traditionally narratively driven. An RPG spin-off will naturally have a story with more thought behind it, as that genre allows for it. You wouldn't expect a meaningful narrative from the Theatrhythm series.

And, even then, the same also goes for Persona Q since the mainline Etrian Odyssey games aren't known for their elaborate stories.

It's a rhythm game. Are you seriously expecting a profound and elaborate story from a rhythm game spin-off of Persona 4? Just like Wada has repeated, they start off with the genre shift for Persona 4 with these, which means the story comes second. There's only so much they can do with the concept of, "The Persona 4 characters need to dance to push the story along."

*whew* GS said it would be cool for me to just come in tomorrow and grab it, now I gots a poster I almost forgot about lol

Best Buy still has it online.
Cool, will keep that in mind if I don't see the LE appear this week & if Amazon runs out. Kind of bummed it didn't arrive today, but oh well, more time to finish up some other Vita games.

Can't wait for next week to get Break Out Of... & Beauty of Destiny.

I know Chie is best girl and all but it's always annoyed the fuck out of me that Yu isn't all over Rise. She's cute, confident, perky, and is practically begging for it. Come on dude.

Yeah new Rise is fine in Free Dance but story mode throws me off so much, I keep thinking I might be playing PQ.

New Rise can't bother me as long as New Naoto and New Margaret are in the game. They're still distracting. :(

Oh, and Matt Mercer is an upgrade. Troy Baker started to sound too much like himself in Golden. :P

Is there any word of the Vita theme coming to NA? Or was that a CE bonus?

On the game's home tile (before you click "Start"), click the little round button at the top with the down arrow. If you don't see that then make sure you're connected to wifi.

Thanks, could have sworn it was not there the first time I booted up the game.

So far, I'm enjoying the game a decent bit. Rise's new VA isn't too bad, but I quickly adapted. A few things I've noticed when playing on the Vita is that the timing to press the button and the music is just minutely out of sync, so I'm depending on just the music for the timing, rather than both the screen and music; It feels I have to press the buttons just slightly before the line for it to match with the music. It is a very minute difference in the timing, but I wish I could slightly calibrate that. Other than that, good thing you can use the screen to do the scratches rather than just the analog sticks. At first, I thought the analogs were the only way to the scratches and it did fell a bit awkward using the analog sticks.

You mean the Theme that came with the LE Vita? It will probably stay exclusive to the LE.

This game has made a terrible first impression on me. The lack of distinct shapes/colors on the notes is making the game really hard for me to follow, and whoever decided those scratch notes were a good idea deserves death. I'm going to keep at it, but I'm already worried I wasted my money.

Also, this pouch is comically oversized, and useless for travel. I was able to fit a 7 inch tablet in the pouch with plenty of room to spare!

You can dim the background in the options menu.

And those scratch notes are a great idea.

Wow, I'm having a totally different experience with the game. Did you try enabling l/r for scratch notes? I found that a lot easier.

So why is everyone in their pre timeskip look again? I feel like I missed it.

EDIT: Never mind. I just saw the scene. Makes sense I guess. The time skip costumes aren't free are they?
