Persona 4 Dancing All Night |OT| Aha! Is This Our Dance?

Yes, that is a stupid medal. I think it might have been put in to show people how they can "remix" tracks by adding in their own scratch flourishes, but that's not quite how it works out when you need to do 500 of them in a song...

Nothing special is obtained once someone gets all of the medals, right? Haven't bothered in the JPN or NA version yet, though I'm close so I'll get to it eventually.
The black metal is for 1000 scratches in one song, which doesn't serve any purpose other than to give people carpal tunnel. I just got it by putting on omnotepotent and mashing my controlling for an entire song.

I'm not aware of any reward for all medals either.

Oh, was it really 1k? I got whichever one the top one was and, yeah, it was just a whole lot of mashing L and R to Calystegia on Normal. Made it sound like a mess.

Man Break out... is alot harder then I thought it would be, also animation songs are waaayyyy to short kinda makes me wish I could refund the DLC after seeing how stupidly short they're.

If the marketing team hadn't got all cute with the Disco Fever Edition and just called it a Collector's Edition instead, it would have been Persona 4 DAN CE.

Played what I could today before my hand started to shoot pain signals to my brain.

I'd say some progress has been made.

$5 is pretty expensive for Marie, especially since I bought her discounted DLC in the Japanese version of the game. Ah well, Break Out Of... is one of my favorite songs to play, so I guess I'll get her. Dunno if I'll bother with Adachi and Hatsune Miku this time, though.

Yeah, I wish it was the whole song and not just the opening to the animation because Sky's the Limit is one of my favorite P4 songs. It was only two dollars so I'm not completely miffed.

Still sucks.

You'll get it all. You can't resist that miku miku charm.

Also, Bought all the DLC. No regrets.

I think if I want to play Miku again, I'll just switch to my Japanese version of the game where I already own her. It's a pain in the ass, but it's probably better than paying for her again.

Wonder if she'll have an English voice in the NA version.

Time to Make History Akira Yamaoka All Night is the only song so far to actually hurt my wrist trying to play it. I can't wrap my head around it.

I managed to get a clear once with only 3 goods but I have no idea how. It ain't for happening a second time.

Edit: Freakin hell, I see what people mean with this beat map now. The more I play the worse I realise it is. I keep messing up because I end up following the song and not the hit confirm sounds. Uuuuugh.

Finally got my first King Crazy on the All Night difficulty. Time to give my wrists a break.

(only had Macho Momentum on)

None of the DLC tracks really feels like good value. The $2 packs contain songs that are like 30 seconds long. Even the $1 ones feel pretty lacking when they are just music videos with no dancing.

Beat the story mode last night and each of these P4 spinoffs has a worse story than the last. This one in particular felt like lazy fanfiction. Was also bored with the gameplay for quite a while, then realized I had been playing on easy. Having a lot more fun now.

Game desperately needed more songs though, this is the most bare rhythm game I have ever played.

True Story (Atlus Kozuka Remix) is $0.99 and features a full dance choreography with Rise.

Disappointing. I don't care for Marie at all so I will probably skip her DLC, and most likely Adachi's. I'll have to listen to the Miku song to see if it is worth it. The single song DLCs have been OK in my book.

Just started this today (woohoo! haven't played my Vita in like two years -- my bad; I don't blame the Vita). Digging it so far just because I love story-based progression in music games and it's pretty challenging.

One very random question: For the bonus little loops that you have to hit the sticks for -- you hit either stick in any direction the moment the loop crosses your little loop thing right? Asking because I haven't really noticed any positive feedback so wondering if I'm doing it wrong. Also Frenzies start but they don't seem to trigger on me hitting the Frenzy loop so I'm a bit confused by that. Thanks!

Re: blue rings, yes, you hit the stick (or swipe the screen, or hit L or R if you turned that option on) as the ring crosses the yellow ring. You'll see lights on the edge of the yellow ring when you do this that indicate how your timing was. I think yellow is perfect, green is great, and blue is okay.

As for the Fever rings, they don't trigger Fever by themselves. Fevers trigger at specific points in the song, marked at the bottom of your screen as markers in the song's timeline. You have to successfully hit three Fever rings before you hit these points in the song to trigger Fever. There's a counter to the right of the main song status (the five little guys cheering or booing you at the top of the screen) that shows your fever ring progress. When it says "Fever Ready!" you've collected enough rings to trigger Fever.

I want Dojima DLC.

Worse than anything else in the game, Dojima not being playable.

Man, the story in DAN is still alright (Chapter 7), but I feel that all the P4 spin-offs fail to keep things grounded. The original game itself had a fictional TV world, Personas, and Shadows that - despite sticking to the psychology reasonably - were definitely made up into something else. But the game still felt grounded. Maybe it's because these things weren't the MAIN focus?

Now I'm playing a spin-off with the same characters where
a mystical being is part of some bond/heart/soul stream, chose Kanami as a host, reversed a song to pull people into the TV world, and turned them into a mountain.
It's just overboard.

I'm enjoying it, but it feels that the writers threw out a part of the original game's design. If... that makes sense.

That's definitely an issue, and also while I'm early in the story it suffers from the same problem I had with Arena which is whenever it fades to a black screen and dumps far too much exposition from the perspective of the current character with a very strange juvenile tone.

I can only rationalize getting adachi and Marie because I think their music is great and I like the characters. But lord, between a $50 game and this expensive DLC I'm glad the P4 spinoff train is finally over.

Alright, I have successfully danced my feelings into big bad villain and they received my bond of friendship.
Friendly bonds to your happy feeling heart.
Friiieeendsssssss

The ending made me smile, even with all the cheesy. It's a good ending to the cast. If this is actually the ending, idk anymore.

All Night mode definitely seems funner than Hard. Mixed opinions on some, but I'll give them a few days. I even tested the worst offense from Hard (for me), Maze of Life, and it was miles ahead in charting.

Dance! was my favorite Hard chart, and the All Night chart doesn't seem too much worse. A good one to play.

Backside of the TV isn't a song you sight-read All Night's chart on. Def going for their own deal a few times in the song. Think I may prefer the Hard chart on this one, not sure yet.

Maze of Life is fun to play, but I like pushing lots of buttons, and the one stretch of rapid presses got that down well. Think "this carousel" is still on the wrong syllables. lol.

Or is it.......?

Finally got my second King Crazy on Normal....

Sky's the Limit. :/

Once again bought all the DLC. Just really nice to have everything. Don't buy DLC normally, so I guess its okay.

Just tried playing on hard and man, I just keep failing because of scratch notes. Should play more calmly I suppose :P

Finally got my copy but holy hell is this one long ass intro, just stfu and let me dance already!

Also this Kanamin Kitchen group's theme is friggin' cringy....
The japanese honorifics really don't mesh well with the English :/

edit: yo can I summon personas in free mode?

Definitely enjoying the game so far. cleared some tracks on hard last night and now i only need to grind songs to get enough money to buy everything else.

Finished the Platinum last night. Game is pretty good, story mode was cute, graphics and presentation were amazing, but it needed more meat on the bone. Considering the game was $50, more of the DLC should have been included in the base game. $50 for 29 tracks, Project Mirai DX had 40 tracks and it was $40.
