Persona 4 The Ultimax - Ultra Suplex Hold Announced

Haha, holy shit. That fucking subtitle.

And, man, I was kinda lukewarm on Yukari's redesign when it was first revealed, but it's been seriously growing on me. Love it.

mauricio you motherfucker

I don't know how anyone can like Yukari, she's only interested in you until you're CHARMING, she's pretty useless story wise, and damn don't even get me started on how egoist she was in FES.

But damn I'm loving her re-design.

So the new dude is the bad guy right?
My waifu looks hot in that costume.

The story in the first game was decent but how in the world will they justify getting the characters to fight each other again?

From the sounds of things, they're not. On the contrary, SEES and the Investigation Team have formed an emergency rescue unit and the only mention of an antagonist so far has been Shadows of themselves looking to get in their way.

Still, it's apparently a tournament again after all, so I guess we'll see.

Yes, that was in the Gekko high observatory. Though the geography was difficult to explain (e.g. where it was exactly) due to how the tower sprouts out of the ground, and into the school itself, making it hard to distinguish where the school ends and where the tower starts.

Yeah. It's a bit more obvious in the artbook as to where the tower is thanks to fully detailed images.

If I understand it correctly, the emergency rescue unit was sent out by the Shadow Operatives. I.E. The group that picks up Yukari. It's not specifically formed between the Investigating team.

In the first game we never get to see the master mind so I assumed it's the new guy.

They're fighting each other in the story mode so there has to be some justification like there was in the first game. Whatever it is I feel that they're stretching it at this point.

The details I read were that Yukari was picked up in an emergency to help Mitsuru, but that SEES and the IT form the group together when they see other people who are crucified on TV. Perhaps specific details are still up in the air.

How do you know that they're still fighting each other in story mode?

Shoryuken's interpretation is the same as mine, apparently:

The Investigation Team sets out to solve the situation. In order to save Mitsuru and the others, the Shadow Operative rescue unit is also urgently dispatched!

The article says they're fighting the shadows even....

What we know implies that the characters are going to be fighting against the Shadow selves of their friends, rather than actually beating the crap out of each other again.

Then who do we fight?

Fake edit: oh right, there are shadow versions of the characters now, nevermind then.

Hm, I don't know about that. Especially since, apparently, Junpei's only there by "mistake" since he got off the wrong train stop. It'd be pretty sad if the "Shadow Operative rescue unit" involves just Yukari, heh, unless it implies that there will be a bunch of other characters who will take part in this who are also part of the Shadow Operatives.

I guess Akihiko, Aigis and Fuuka would also be part of it.

Probably Junpei as well. Same with
Labrys, since she joined the Shadow Operatives at the end of P4A's story.

Gime new soundtrack and it´s a deal!

Also since this takes place in the real world gasp* Are we going to see playable Dojima?

The trailer makes it pretty clear that the antagonists captured Fuuka at least, so they're not part of the rescue unit. Yukari mentions that Mitsuru "and the others" were caught, and Junpei is asking Fuuka if someone really did get them.

I presume Junpei's not there by mistake and they're just being coy, like how they were about the original game and what Mitsuru was doing in Inaba.

If that's the case, it's fucking amazing. In a good way, too. Read about the space-time warp stuff, but didn't think too much of it until now.

That gives way for anything now, too. Makoto Yuki, Persona 2 characters...
With that in mind, I question if that could also mean an excuse to have the female MC from P3P cross over into canon, potentially leading to both her and Makoto appearing in the same place (seems like it would fall under "anything", at least).

Hell, why not. If this is the game to wrap everything up, then going absolutely crazy with it would be just fine.

Actually a thing that's been bothering me and slightly off topic are FeMC and MC considered the same person just gender flipped or completely separate people.

And if this does end up the case this game is gonna be a shot storm (in a good way)

FeMC is not canon, based on the references in the first Persona 4 Arena.

No yeah I know that she's a what if type character, but in her own timeline is she considered to be the equivalent of MaleMC as in the same person

Not sure if this was just fan speculation, but I recall reading something about
FeMC and MC being twins, and only one of them surviving the car crash on the bridge in their respective continuity.

$40 disc update and I'll bite, just started playing P4A last week and it seems like a nice FG, my stick layout is taking bit to get used to though, I might go KoF style.

How do we know it's the weapons store guy? I don't remember him being mentioned by name in-game but I could be wrong.

Also looks like Labrys got a new persona move.

Weapons store guy = Deidara. He shares some physical similarities with Sho.

Labrys' new Persona moves Weaver’s Art: Gem - 236C/D apparently involves Ariadne shooting out a bubble that traps the opponent on hit.

just a wild guess tbh. the similarities are there tho: red hair, x shaped scar, resident of inaba - plus with the mention of "space-time" distortions, he might have been brought from the past. explains why he sells weapons to teenagers in the future.

i'm excited for a dual-sword guy finally! dual-knives was just okay.

Also gives them an easy story set up as the weapons guy could organise the tournament to make people fight/buy/test his stuff.

Oh no, Yu's sweep > 5D is back (though still nerfed)! Guess things truly are in flux after all.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, Arcsys loketests tend to be very experimental, with a lot of changes not making it to release. There were some pretty good Blazblue examples but nothing comes to mind.
