Persona 5 livestream direct-feed from Atlus YouTube

This game is one of the most hyped JRPG's in years, alongside FF15. And time and time again, Atlus squanders chances to make it as big as it could be.

More and more bad news is coming out of this game lately, fans are pissed off that the game could potentially be spoiled before the release date, and lets not forget the Europe situation, who have to fucking import. In 2017.

This game is a gong show behind the scenes, and it doesn't help that the marketing is sending mixed signals. You might have had an ability to claim this argument last year when it was the sentiment, but not anymore.

EDIT: it says a lot when the sentiment of Persona-GAF is that they are pissed off too over everything that has gone on in the past few months. So quit with the shilling act.

Pissed off but are still going to buy it. If your so pissed off then boycott the company. Otherwise you have no backbone to go along with all your damn whining.

Demon negotiations are more than just meaningless dialogue. You have to actually choose what to say and if you don't choose correctly based on the demon says and their personality, then you can get attacked or have them run away. It isn't just waiting time like Shuffle was.
Yes, and this is going to make fights slower. Shuffle time was very quick in P4G and that was great. Demon negotiation is going to slow down the flow of the game. I mean I had shuffle time in half the battles in the dungeons.

even though it does nothing as was said up thread

Atlus makes good games, but they sure as hell are a shit show behind the scenes. The grace period is over, people should be criticizing them, instead of sweeping everything under the rug, like the Atlus Tax, fucking over Europe time and time again, and fucking over NA people when it comes to P5's release date.

But sure, accuse me of having no backbone.

I think that people can be disappointed with how the marketing how a game is handled and still think the game is going to be good and want to buy it. Voicing criticism is a much better way of letting Atlus know your complaints than an angry boycott.

I am really tired of your bitching every thread about Atlus about the most little stupid things. Atlus doesn't owe you anything. They don't owe you footage and they don't owe you for any release date. If you have a problem with Atlus, stop buying their games, otherwise shut up already.

Atlus PR, is that you?

Exactly. And it certainly doesn't help the game's cause when Atlus is giving people tons of ammo to criticize them with over the past few months.

But of course, it's better to stick your head in the sand and sing kumbaya then address them.

if that was john hardin there'd be more foot in mouth situations

It seems like the negotiations are opt-in, though. After you knock all the enemies down you can negotiate or finish them off with an All-out Attack, right? I may be mistaken.

As long as we can skip/fast forward this stuff, it'll be fine.

With negotiations being an optional part of the game that you do when you want more demons or to talk your way out of a battle means it won't completely grind each battle to a halt, only the ones where you explicitly want to negotiate. So just the beginnings of a new dungeon or when you are trying to fuse a specific demon. I'm not too concerned about the speed of the game since they want to make it fast and all of the other animations seem pretty snappy.

Well, if this replaces shuffle time you don't necessarily want to skip it since it may give you bonuses beside getting a new Persona.

Is this Junpei?

That's true.

I have to wonder if Shuffle has been completely removed. It would be a bummer if so, if only for the Arcana Chance system, which added a fun bit of randomness. They could just go back to P3's where you can get experience bonuses, weapons or money and throw in the Arcana Chance, while relegating persona recruiting to negotiations. Or just have P4's system along with negotiations. Who knows?

The game looks absolutely incredible. They also seem to have cleared up the IQ from the last time I saw something of it, which is encouraging to say the least, especially seeing as we still have some time to go until release.

I have no idea how I'm going to avoid footage of this game, though.

jeez dude

QUESTION: Is it important to play any of the prior Persona games before playing P5?

While you don't need to, I would highly recommend at least playing P4 and if you have time, play P3 as well. In addition to being incredible games in their own rite, they would also help introduce you to the world, basic game mechanics (social links, motherfuckers), and battle systems so you can feel up-to-speed once P5 rolls around.

My boy, chill. Hes clearly a fan, look at his avatar. Some people just hold their favorite companies to a high standard is all

I love how goddamn insane the UI is.

Looks like a Persona alright. Gonna stop watching any footage now.

Fucking

lmao

Looks so damn slick, the UI is crazy good. I'm going to try a blackout until Feb but it's hard with the Japanese release being in Sept.

I'm curious about demon/persona negotiation. It seems to counter their whole "speed is key" approach to everything.

From previous games I don't recall demon negotiation taking long. It's a few text boxes and then you get asked a question. It also won't happen all the time, usually you had to talk to the demons/persona first (in some cases they'll initiate conversation randomly or if you have certain demons in your party, etc). I don't think it'll add much bloat, but we'll see.

I liked the feature myself, sometimes you can even trigger side content by saying the right things to certain demons.

I really, really dislike that UI. It takes way too much screen space and just looks way too chaotic.

The combat still looks good, though. I love the animation with pulling the mask off of the wandering armours.

Getting chills. It's like they blended the best parts of P2 and P3's atmosphere and characters while just taking p4's relationship dynamic, which is great!

Holy shit what did I miss? Sounds like Atlus dropped the ball about something but no one's elaborating.

Oh well, I'll just watch the video and maybe someone will explain why they're mad about Atlus's E3 showing.

Wow I love the gameplay, very much looking forward to this game. I didn't know what to think about the dungeon roaming with the thief approach but it looks a lot better than 3 and 4. I like 3 more because it was better with sneaking up on enemies, 4 felt weird.

Wow Protag just drags Morganna everywhere doesn't he? I see her hanging out inside his school desk too, lol. Guess she's "his voice" when something needs to be stated or elaborated on.
