Persona 5 Scramble (Switch/PS4) announced

I personally hate Musou games, and I hate them with a passion. Maybe this is an exiting announcement for people who genuinely like this stuff, and yay for them then.

I'll just roll my eyes at this stuff.

Federation Force is better than anybody ever gives it credit, but it wasn't Metroid Prime 4, so they hate it.

Omega Force is quite large and has multiple Musou teams going at one, and they've got good teams and bad teams. With any luck, this won't be the team that shits out half assed license games like Berserk Musou or Arslan.

Exactly, Federation Force had no chance to sell or be seen as good after Metroid Prime fans hyped themselves up for the next main game in the series. Nintendo Switch owners are not going to stop feeling salty about P5S.

I have a PS4 sitting 2 feet away from me right now and I still feel disappointed about all the efforts going into P5R exclusive on a box sitting right next to me. It is weird to feel like that. But when rumors and expectations hype you up, you feel like you got scammed lol.

For those who love Musou those feelings should not get in the way of enjoying P5S if it turns out to be one of those good effort ones

I'm sure we'll get Persona 5 proper on the Switch eventually. It's not trivial to port (look at how long the DQ11 Switch port is taking), while Omega Force has been using the same multi-platform Musou engine for decades, making a Switch release little more than a compiler flag. The fact that they are bothering to release it on the Switch means that they think a Persona audience is there, and I can't imagine they'd think that is the case if P5 wasn't coming.

Personally, I haven't played any of the Persona games, but I play all the Musou games, so I just went and popped in P5 into my PS4 and I'm installing it now. The one thing I can say about the Musou series is that even when their license games suck, they get the best licenses, so when a Musou game is announced in a new license, I pay attention. It is thanks to Musou games that I read One Piece, Berserk, Fist of the North Star, and Heroic Legend of Arslan - I've never been disappointed and One Piece and Berserk are my favorite things ever. I was already familiar with Zelda, Dragon Quest, Gundam, and Fire Emblem because they were already my favorite things ever.

Seriously, you can decide which games to play, which manga to read, and which anime to watch based purely on what Musou games come out, and you will basically hit all the high points of Japanese anime-style entertainment. The fact that they've chosen Persona 5 to join this club should be seen as the highest possible praise.

Do they usually bill Musou games as Action RPGs? Is there a chance we'll see stronger RPG components in this one?

So this is a completely new game and switch isn't actually getting the real P5 after all?

Also why does the thread title only mention switch when the trailer clearly mentions it's for PS4 as well?

At this point I feel like Tecmo Koei has a "make a musou" pipeline where you just dump a bunch of assets into folders, click a few buttons, and poof- shippable videogame.

nah, I would not expect no more than to fit the mold of the IP being used in the musou
look at Dragon Quest and Zelda and see how much RPG elements got put into those versions, expect Persona 5 version

Dragon Quest on Switch was promised long before the game even came out on PS4 and PC. Atlus released Persona 5 2-3 years ago and has said nothing about porting to new platforms.

Atlus has always used Nintendo platforms to offer supplementary Persona content to fans (Persona Q/Q2, Joker in Smash Bros, and now Persona 5 Scramble). A lot of Persona fans have a 3DS or a Switch with their Playstation hardware. A Switch port has little value to these people because they've already played the game.

Atlus focuses on people that already play their games as they are.

Most Musou games already have the common RPG components - leveling up, acquiring skills, crafting and equipping weapons. Dragon Quest Heroes 2 has an open world with NPCs to talk to and quests to do. Some Musou games also have character affection that goes up when you use them together.

I'd say that, at the minimum, you'll get social links. I'd also expect a hub world that you can go around and talk to people in (like Attack On Titan 2 or Warriors Orochi 3). If they put in the effort, it could be open world like DQH2, Toukiden 2, or DW9, or it could have a substantial extra mode built from unique mini-missions (HW, FEW, DQ7). The worst case scenario is that it is by the Arslan/Berserk/FotNS2 team and it is just a bunch cutscenes with barely functional story levels and little else.

Looks interesting! I love me some Musou games that are based around franchises I am attached to.

Still holding out hope that we can get a proper Persona 5 release on the Switch at a later date - maybe one without censorship? Who knows.

At this point we have to assume that sony is moneyhatting this right?

Either that or Atlus is the biggest cockteaser in the industry

It'll probably be better then P5. At least for me it will. I love Musou games. This is probably what Joker in Smash is promoting.

Won't lie. I'm kinda disappointed. But I'm not going to write it off just yet. There have been some musou games I've enjoyed(Hyrule and One Piece pirate warriors respectively) so I can just hope this will be one of the interesting ones.

I'm excited, since I love both Persona and nearly all Musou titles, at least by KT. I really enjoy being able to play a character I prefer and go around kicking ass with them. They definitely have my attention, I'll be keeping an eye out for playable characters and outfits.

Wow, at the range of comments. I was excited as shit, really. I love Musou games, and the Persona franchise seems like it could do a lot in that space.

But...

Yeah, I too had no idea this was the one Persona 5 game they were referring to. When I saw this, I thought, "hey cool, a little cherry on top." But yeah, if this is it, it is disappointing for whole other reason.

I'll still buy the shit out of this, though.

Hyrule warriors is the only game in this style I liked a lot. Hope this one can play as well but I have doubts.
I'm in the same position. After Hyrule Warrior, I've tried a few others (Dynasty Warrior/Samurai Warrior/One Piece Pirate Warrior..,) but none keep me interested as Hyrule Warrior.

They were ok but not as good as Hyrule Warrior.

Still need to try hyrule warriors. I really was unimpressed with fire emblem warriors... would you hyrule warriors is one of the better ones?

If it has Persona 1 and 2 characters I'll bite.

Lol you will be lucky to get one or two rep from those games. It will probably be handled like fire emblem warriors which barely had any representation from the earlier games at least this time they are being upfront and by calling it "persona 5 scramble "instead of "persona scramble".

I never saw this coming :(
I don't have any interest in this but I'm wondering about the length and whether it covers the same story stuff as the original game but maybe just in abbreviated form.

I quit Fire Emblem Warriors by chapter 8. I put 300 something hours into HW on Switch. It's a massively better game, much better combat, many more playstyles, more refined, more objectives, way more to do. The various adventure maps in adventure mode were a blast to play.

I was so hyped for Fire Emblem too, damn shame it's so dull and tedious in comparison.

If you like Zelda and hack slash titles then I'd say yes. Especially since the switch version has all the content from the Wii U and 3ds dlc. And while I can't speak for the other musou games, HW has plenty of shit to do outside of the story with its adventure mode which is like taking the classic Zelda overworld and adding missions (and there's a adventure map for nearly every Zelda era.)

It looks like a lot of the Warrior fans dislike Hyrule Warrior. But for me it is one of the best.
I like the combat and managing the map which add a little strategy (it stays quite basic however).

Hyrule Warriors is considered one of the best Musou games by most fans (probably top 5 for most, along with DW3, SW2, and WO3). I have no idea where you are getting the impression that people don't like it.

Oooof. Really thought they would put P5 on Switch with Joker in Smash and everything. Tbh I was kinda hoping they would announce P4G on Switch even. oh and we don't even get english voice actors for PQ2! I would have shelled out for the Nanako battle narrator voice pack again, atlus.

Musou Sorry but I don't really think Dynasty Warriors is good.

I did compulsively play Hyrule Warriors because I love Zelda's history and characters, and I may do that again here if the DLC characters expand beyond the P5 roster, but this news is still a downer. But hey nice concert at least.

I remember people complaining that outside of the leaders, the rest of the enemies don't offer any resistance.
But I might be wrong. I'm not a big warrior fan. But I enjoyed Hyrule Warrior a lot.
