Petit Computer (BASIC Programming Software) Coming to the DSi/3DS eShop in NA

Mega-bump to let people know Petit Computer will be out in PAL territories on July 25 for 800 Nintendo Points / 8 Euro / 7.20 GBP. I'd already given up hope, how about you?

THANK YOU BASED GOD

Along with the Pokémon BW2 Global Showdown, my DSi XL is going to see a lot of use this weekend!

Thanks, mind reading about this a while back but it wasn't available.

I'm buying this.

I'd like to program a very small 2D Smash Bros. game. It'll probably only have one stage and two fighters, but this looks incredibly useful!

This is one of the things I'll buy immediately once I get my hands on a 3DS later this year, since I'd love to create simple games on the go.

The fact that it supports hiragana and katakana rather than taking them out like most export releases do is really nice as well, since I never got why they'd remove both without adding anything but lots of useless symbols as a replacement.

Thanks I missed that. Will download it for my phone :)

I installed it to my iPod.

Any project ideas? I want to make a Smash Bros game with about a few fighters and a small amount of stages. Probably sprite based characters on a 2D stage.

Seems like a challenge! :D

platform game?
tetris clone?
pacman clone?

I'll start with the basics (pun unintended), it's been 20+ years since I touched Basic

Woah, definitely didn't see this coming! All hope seemed lost for Europe yet here we are! :-D
I'll be getting this soon. We should have an OT or a games sharing thread.

Can you hook a keyboard up or do you need to use a virtual keyboard to write the code?

Had anyone tried out the text adventure engine?

Is it pretty easy to use, I know programming basics and would love to write a text adventure when I get my 3DS (:

Bother... somehow my DSiWare save data got cleared, and I can't find the backup for the Westware Ho! (Oregon Trail) port I finished last year.

I'm not sure how it got cleared, either, given that no other DSiWare data was lost -- probably a mistake on my part when moving programs in memory.

Well, someone has been working on MM2 petit computer since it launched in US. He released a demo before but, now has an updated demo. You can now find the updated demo here and, the info on it here.

For a second I thought this was gonna be a game that teachers programming just like the Art Academy games teach drawing, painting, and basic art.

Was gonna totally get this for my younger brother, oh well, still will.

The part I could actually translate from a tweet post and one of the website's videos...
  • I think it says something about the 3DS version being released on July (in Japan)
  • Adds camera and microhpone support
  • Maximum line count is now 999,999 lines
  • Enhanced (code?) editor
  • Instruction descriptions (perhaps some sort of autocomplete?)

The original's a bit clunky, so I'd be really interested in any improvements they could make to it.

Oh, by the way, I finished a simple map editor that flipped the controls compared to the built-in one. In my version, the d-pad controls the cursor to place tiles and the touchscreen is used to select tiles and create multi-tile brushes. Still, I don't know where I'm supposed to place the resulting tile array, which would be the whole point of the tile editor.
