PGR3 photomode pics

Finally started playing this last night. Easily the best looking game ever. The car details + cities are on another level of graphical beauty. Seriously, i couldnt ask for a better looking next gen game

Wow the refelections and lighting are incredible. I forgot that this was 30 FPS tho. :( What's with all the 30 FPS 360 games? Will this change in the future?

i've said it once and i'll say it again. 30fps w blur ala PGR3 and PDZ>>>>>>>>>>>>60fps. the games look so much more of a film quiality this way. adds to the realism IMO.

This shot looks so out of place in this thread

If only the game actually looked as good. The game looks pretty good but the photos always look better. Seems they run extra filters on them and add FSAA which it seem the game lacks.

you can always make a game "look better" by taking a well composed and directed photo. obviously you cant play from that angle though :P

as has been said (and shown in a pair of compaision pics) the difference between "in game" and "photomode" really isnt that big

i've been saying this since the first time i've taken a walk in the garage.
Not sure about racing games, but for fps i actually prefer 30fps with motion blur to 60fps. Pdz is only a good example while turning the cam quickly, pgr3's garage is the best example of how motion blur should be implemented in fps.

Man, some of these pictures make me wish I had even a bit of talent with photography. I don't know how to begin to get beautiful shots out of this game.

if your wondering how some of these shots were made, a poster by the name of blur found a way to get outside the track in photo mode :)
These shots are not next gen enough because PGR3 can not be controlled by waving around a magic wand like a big fairy.

Awesome stuff. I was just playing around last night with taking some shots of the Cizeta V-16 in GT4, but can't wait to move up to this come Christmas.

So the game is THIS sharp while playing??

Can't wait to try it myself.
Yes, but sadly you rarely see any of the cars from such a cool angle. Really, only at the beginning of the race, where there's a different shot for each number in the "3, 2, 1" countdown. But for those 3 seconds, it's like "DAMN!"

Looks great, but I'm surprised that Bizarre Creations didn't include an easy way to just transfer the pics to a USB flash drive, similar to GT4's Photo Mode/Drive component. I'm sure there's gotta be a way. It'd be a shame if you couldn't.

i have heard they are working on a patch to do that, as well as be able to share them with friends on live. whether this was initially just speculation, or something official, i am not sure.

How...did...you...capture...those...?
You need to make screens for Bizarre in the future.

those were captured from a debug outputting VGA. The original files are 2.6MB, but I had to resize the images to about 1MB for crappy free imageshack. :(

Took about an hour or so to get 'em.

Goddman I LOVE this game!! C'mon with that rumored update, PLEASE Bizarre Creations.

The pics above are one of the reason I slap the taste out of the mouth of my 'fanboy' friends that talk that XBox 1.5 bullsh!t. This game look exceptional on a standard set, freaking incredible on a HDTV. If this game isn't next gen then you obvious need to get off the heroin. Now I must run and play some more PGR3..........

wow, thanks for those shots rod. look at that asphalt texture!

Well Allard in one of his interviews said that the USB ports were only capible of input. If this is true, then we will never be able to copy the pictures to a flash drive. If they had some mechanism of online storage,, then we'd be able to share pictures and maybe even download them. I am surprised that XBL does not have this yet.

Rod wins. ;) Great shots there.

Its probably been noted by others before but for some reason Bizarre's art style and lighting almost gives off a subtle cell-shaded vibe to it. Or am I the only one? Its like the cars sorta "pop" off the screen or something. Very cool I think, its distinct and fits nicely with the "exaggerated sim" tone of the series.

Even if the USB drives are for input purposes only, remember that the Xbox 360 supports Windows Media Connect. I stream pictures and music off of my non-Media Center laptop to my X360. No reason I can't do the opposite with a little support from MS/Bizarre.

Slight correction: He did not say they weren't capable of output, simply that they aren't used for that function.

J Allard: at present our design for xbox 360 uses the usb ports in a read-only capacity for playing music and viewing photos. if there are other applications that you guys think are interesting then please give us your feedback.

Also, the wired controllers are two way since the console has to tell them when to vibrate. Do one-way USB ports even exist?

Man, I'm disappointed with this game visually. It's hard to appreciate all the details in action. It's a case of focusing on too many small details rather than the whole picture. If you stop and look around, the details are insane, but while racing, the problems stand out more than the good aspects. The ground textures can look downright shit at times (the bridge, for instance) and the lack of AF is annoying. The game comes so damn close to CG levels here (in some ways), but little issues hold it down.

The game is also a bit jaggy. Ridge Racer 6 is SOOOOOOOO clean (you can see so much detail so far away), but PGR3 doesn't compare (it's not even running at the proper 1280x720 resolution is it?). In fact, I'd say that RR6 looks better to me overall. It's not as detailed, but what you see while racing is just better looking to me. Hell, I think Burnout Revenge is more attractive looking in motion than PGR3 (though it is obviously the image quality is crap in comparison).

What I'm seeing is that, if you stop and look at the scenery in these games, you see just how damn detailed PGR3 is...but when racing, a lot of that detail becomes less important while the "whole picture" isn't as nice as it should be. That's why I always claimed that the high-res AA'd Burnout Revenge shots were a BAD thing in that they allowed you to focus on the flaws. In motion, those areas with low-res textures just don't matter as you can't see them. It's kind of a philosophy in design or something. You should focus on the scene as a whole, not the individual details. Once you achieve scenes of a certain quality, you can improve them with detail...but those details should not be THE focus.

Game looks great overall, but it just didn't blow me away.

USB keyboards work with the USB inputs.

Hot.

I hope for the next game they build in a way of sharing screens. Taking pics of a TV sux.

According to Bizzare, they have the pic export-to-pc feature ready, they are still waiting for Microsoft to give it a go.

:lol it wasnt on purpose. when I actually watched the replay theres space between the cars when your car starts to spin. its just hard to race that close together in this game without one car going nuts and wrecking.
