Phil Spencer: Forza Horizon 5 has the biggest launch day in Xbox history

Out of the ten people I saw online on my friends list last night, 7 of them were playing FH5. Usually it's a mix of different games being played on my fl but even people who previously never cared for Forza, let alone Horizon were playing it. These are non car people too.

Congrats Xbox & Playground Games.

This is highly disappointing considering there are over 20 million Game Pass subscribers. 20 million people have access to the game, are paying for Game Pass specifically just to be able to play things like this, and Microsoft's biggest release in years drops and way less than half even care. This is evidence that Xbox's first party games, what is meant to be the biggest draw to Game Pass, aren't even a huge draw to their existing subscriber base. This is a worrying trend. Definitely the last Xbox.

you know that people do they have different priorities in life right? I am a big fan of Forza I am constantly subscribed to Gamepads Ulti and I have not yet been able to start the game because I have been busy with work. 4.7 on day one is a huge success and you are trying miserably (failing) to cling to the one thing that could spin this incredible so as to seem negative for Ms. What to say ? embarrassing

Either sarcasm or doesn't understand attach rates.

As a shareholder, I am more interested in trying to see what the search trends look like for a term like Gamepass (yes, I understand that it's only partially related to subscribers numbers) and in 3 months, what the financial reports look like.

On the gamer part of me, great news for Playground and definitely more fun for me than FH4.

lol its a meme guys, taken from the Forza 1mil users thread :messenger_tears_of_joy: -

Post 594.

Some people were speculating what some users on here will say to downplay these numbers.

Deserved. Is this team their best dev team? Up there, for sure.

TLoU 2 was copies sold in 3 days, not players.

I'd say, at this point in time, absolutely no doubt about it. I'd say the top 3 atm consists off (IMO)

1. Playground games
2. ID
3. Arkane? (this spot could go to a lot of devs, F.E. Bethesda, Coalition, Inxile, Turn 10, etc.)

Let's hope Microsoft is capable of managing such a vast diversity and amount of studio's. (and let's hope 343I gets a total rework so they can claim a top 3 spot, a man can dream :()

Very off-topic, I'm sorry

On Topic: Well deserved. This game made me go out and buy a steering wheel. Horizon 4 didn't click with me like previous titles, but this one is without a doubt my favorite racing game ever made. The physics, sound, handling have all been massively improved from previous entries, and those were no slouches to begin with.

I played it on GP and deleted it and I am considered part of that group, I'm sure many others are as well. It's not quite the same when you aren't talking about sales.
Well he isnt talking about sales, he said 'players'. And its no different than buying a game, playing it and not liking it, then deleting it. You are still one of the players.
Whether you buy the game outright, or play it through a paid subscription, you still played it.
Besides the money they made from the premium sales alone probably covered production costs 2 fold.

They are best team for Xbox for sure, they saved Xbox in my eyes. I had zero intentions to buy one, until FH2 came out. If it wouldn't come to life, I don't think we would be warring about Xbox vs PS today...

Well he has a point. I enjoy the game so far on PC, while im more into close circuit racing. But i have seen a lot of people complaining about AAA PS game sales with the "but there are over 100 million PS4 sold l, but just 20 million copies sold from game XXX". I mean they are giving GP away for nothing. I know some others have purchased a month of GP just to try the game. 4 million players is much, but also not really shocking much. I think it's more interesting to know how many copies were sold.

I also heard that the cracked version can be played online, so those numbers are in the same report.

You forgot to mention the millions of journalists and influencers who got a free code. This game is a guaranteed bomba.

Jesus snake, its a copy pasta, it was said to take the piss.:messenger_expressionless:
Also you cant play the pirate version online, not unless somehting changed in the last 2 days because my neighbour downloaded it to see if he liked it. You try any of the online parts and it says 'online service unavailable'.

alwo the ultimate edition or the DLC addon had 1.4 million users befor launch day so they made their money on the game

Even worst. Theres 7800000000 humans in the planet, meaning than less than 1% of earth population played the game. Not sure why Mr. Spencer is celebrating.

You're still paying MS until your sub runs out whether you play it or not. That's the beauty of the business model.

Im sure many others are subbed to a service they keep shitting on and have already uninstalled the highest rated racing game in past years. Many many others.

All games don't have to cater for all people. Just like on Netflix, there will be big releases that many people will have no interest in watching, they key is getting enough content that engages with enough people of varying tastes where they each perceive there to be value (and thus keep subscribing).

I have a ps5 and a series x. I checked out FH5 for like an hour and have zero desire to return to it. It's very polished and it fills a niche for many people (obviously), but driving around aimlessly isn't enough to keep the vast majority of people interested in the long term. The actual racing is dogshit, and the over-the-top silliness makes it feel like a kids game.

Lmao the takes get worse and worse all the time. It's ok to prefer GT Sport if that's your thing though.
