Phil Spencer is a pretty cool dude.
I agree with you. Every single time an exclusive game comes out for either platform, executives are there to congratulate.
Am I a shitty person for saying that if I was a higher-up at Microsoft, I'd be hoping for an Uncharted 4 flop? I mean, they bought Tomb Raider in an effort to combat it. lol
Well when you have a Dice emoloyee taking shots at Activisions new cod reveal that kinda says something different then the point you are trying to make. Everything is not always peaches and cream between different companies, they are competitors too and are fighting tooth and nail for your dollar and a few nice respectful gestures between opposing companies will not change that.People should realize the people running these companies and developing these games are often friends, worked together in the past or will in the future, and don't give two shits about 'console wars' and fanboyism.
In defense of dice, I totally agree with their sentiment about the tech aspect of the last cod. I doubt they said that just because are their competitors.Well when you have a Dice emoloyee taking shots at Activisions new cod reveal that kinda says something different then the point you are trying to make. They said that because they feel like their product is better then the competitions, whether its the truth or not is for us the consumers who care about that sort of stuff to decide. In defense of dice, I totally agree with their sentiment about the tech aspect of the last cod. I'm just convinced it's a bunch of 12-year-old boys on twitterIt happens alot. While they compete, most people in the industry are chill with everyone else. Sure, they'll rib each other from time to time, but it's more a friendly rivalry instead of an all-out war. And like above, they are all love playing game and there's no reason not to play certain games cause they are your competitor.
Holy shit at some of those replies. They are like the most bizarre, other-worldly fanboy posts I've ever seen.
this. it's happened a lot and it's pretty common but I admit that's good sportsmanshipThe heads of the companies congratulate each other all the time for major releases. Not really shocking.

The only reason this is an article is to rile up the fanboys.

I'm sure they have other, more efficient, things to worry about. No, they all want UC4 to flop.
Why do you think he is doing this? He's so great and genuine. It really makes me want his corporation's product to perform better in the marketplace!
Credit where credit's due, though, Mattrick was very honest and straightforward. He told you what the company's aim and goals were and didn't try to sugarcoat it. You'd be hard pressed to find him contradicting or walking back on a statement he made. He's a lot more likeable than Mattrick was, at least. (In my opinion, anyway.)
Welcome to social media? Why congratulate them publicly if it isn't a PR stunt? Pretty sure he could shoot them an email and congratulate them just as easily, but then how would he benefit from that?

Don't believe him, it's just a tactic.
For me phil will be cool when he launch a true powerful xbox.A worthly successor of the original xbox and xbox 360 not the bad joke of the xbox one.

He's being polite, that's what people do.
Sony releases a sequel to their biggest IP ever he's obviously not going to say 'LOL game's shit, try again.'
You just posted that for attention, you could have easily pm'd the OP with your opinion.
You've just an proof they do it all of the time in this very thread, people need to grow up it happens in all walks of life adults be mostly adulting y'all, it isn't like the fanboi posters on here or elsewhere on the Internet. To be fair I remember some compliment of Sony for some Halo release quite long time ago.
It's not really about the shock value though. It's noteworthy that he even said it imo.The heads of the companies congratulate each other all the time for major releases. Not really shocking.

He's going to say congratulations on the game's launch, which is what he did. This is such a non-news article
it was their biggest IP but GT lost a lot of momentum after gt5. it still ended up selling over 10 million copies but the loss in momentum was reflected (with more than a few reasons for it) with gt6's release as well. Not sure that's true. Sales and legacy-wise GT should be Sony's biggest IP.
I mean you're welcome to believe this is only to congratulate Sony, sure. There can be some element of comraderie involved.
I'm sorry but it's very naive to think that people are so one-dimensional. There's many reasons to do this.
For one, it's this guy's job to put a face to Xbox, which is a public relations job. That's exactly what he's doing. This thread's responses are evident of this.
People who are fans of any product, sports team, movies, game consoles, they all prefer to have a personality associated with the brand they can cheer on.
This is what advertising is about, getting people to believe in a product or brand outside of its raw contents. It's called a soft sell.
It's no different if Shuhei goes out and acts amicably. He's putting a face to the Sony brand too.
Being positive is part of the salesmanship job. That's just how it is.
It's not at all a conspiracy, despite your tin foil hat picture there. This is how you play the game. There are many, many games people will play in life, and no one is going to explicitly explain them to you.
Appealing to your emotions is part of the game. Because it works, and it doesn't feel like it is PR. But it is.
But it's true. I don't think there is nothing of wrong to say the IW graphic tech showed it's quite dated and disappointing. Maybe dice could choice better words, ok, but they said the truth after all. I don't get this politically correct rethoric when Activision it's the last who could pretend such stuff. And we are talking just of videogames. They said that because they feel like their product is better then the competitions, whether its the truth or not is for us the consumers who care about that sort of stuff to decide.
