Phil Spencer gives props to ND, Sony for Uc4

How is he responsible when it wasn't him who is came up with the roadmap? Hes reaponsible to make it work. He wasn't in charge. Your clutching at straws mate.
Based on what you said that? From what we know he has contributed to the xbone project.

Actually brings up a good question.... Why does gaf feel the need to make a thread about Phil every time he tweets???

Y'all don't do this for Sony execs or Nintendo execs

He's so great and genuine. It really makes me want his corporation's product to perform better in the marketplace!

This should have been the first reply. Reminder that most of what these corporate representatives do in public is calculated.
If Spencer had sent an email, we wouldn't have seen it.

Of course he contributed, Allard himself blessed the project, but that's what you do when you have to follow people above you. Now I'm not saying he couldn't have influenced changes, but I doubt he was in a position to make drastic ones. Still, we can see, X1 isn't the console it was positioned to be by Mattrick, and that's down to Phil, evidence is in front of you. Xbox 1.5 will be his first console, so there shouldn't be any doubt about his vision of the brand. All.signs so far point it to be more in line with what xbix gamers are used to, plus some quirks.

He needs to change the lead. Of course he said what people want to hear. What's the surprise? It's his purpose change the imagine of MS to the people eyes.

And neither would have yosp, most likely.

And what it has to do this to what I'm saying?

The xbone isn't a kick in the balls for xbox fans if it still runs the xbox games (see: Halo/Gears/Forza). Saying that the xbone is a kick in the balls because it is weak hardware wise is ignoring the fact that the whole point of the console is to play xbox games that xbox fans love on a xbox console.

Also Gaming execs do this kind of thing. It's not a new occurrence. Phil will probably play and enjoy UC4 as well.

Not surprised. Phil said he was looking forward to UC4 awhile back and "system warriors" attacked him for it on Twitter. Personally, I'm not big on ND games because I've fallen in love with MP gaming like TF2 and Overwatch, but they are obviously really fucking talented. They make A LOT of gamers happy, so good on them.

You make a excellent point. I purchased a XB1 for the Gears franchise alone. Once it came to Windows I sold my Xbox and have regretted it ever since. The community is dead on PC. I'm thinking about buying another XB1 since I enjoyed the Gears 4 beta so much.

Yeah! One of "System Warrios" is also here on GAF. I was surprised when i heard who he is.

I do think this is noteworthy, especially since Microsoft is the underdog.

You don't hear Pepsi executives talking about the crisp, cool, refreshing taste of Coca-Cola, or Burger King talking about how nothing will ever beat the classic taste of the Big Mac, or AMD talking about how amazing the performance of NVIDIA's new GTX 1080 will be.

Creative industries tend to be like this.

Phil farts someone will make one article about it, sometimes dude does one interview and from just that single interview some sites are capable of doing 3 or 4 articles about it.

I don't even think there's an Nintendo executive on Twitter. And people make threads about Shuhei Yoshida all the time.

Phil Spencer tweeted something, wow. It would be more interesting if he said something negative or controversial. For the most part, the guy's a talking head who says what people want to hear. The nice guy gamer public act isn't really doing anything to bolster the muddled Xbox brand other than garnering props from the hardcore gamers who follow him on Twitter.

Phil has been thanking sony a lot. when was the last time sony thanked MS???

Where did Phil "thank" Sony? He congratulated Naughty Dog. Did you see Adam Boyes Congratulate Remedy on Quantum Break? He did, but nobody made a thread about it. Nobody is thanking anyone, they are basically saying "Good Game, Good Job!" Like good sports do.

I swear this thread is only still on the front page because of people complaining about it. Irony, much?

If you think a topic shouldn't be discussed and should be locked, check the ToS then pm a mod or email support@neogaf.com

this seems like a this gen thing. both sides trying to seem less corporate.

don't really see anything wrong with it though as long as people are still working on trying to one-up their competition in the background. which i'm sure they still are

Lol, before jumping on my post about me complaining, read what I wrote and who I responded to. He (and not the OP) was saying Phil thanks Sony all the time, and "when was the last time Sony thanked MS". "Thanks" them, that isn't even what was going on. He never "thanks" them. He never "thanked" them. And post my whole freaking post instead of pulling out little pieces or whatever. I wasn't even responding to the OP, just somebody that didn't even know what they were talking about. I simply said this was Phil saying Good Job, not him thanking them. And I pointed out that it does go both ways (and shared a very recent example), which the post I was responding to, said it doesn't.

Wow, talk about a being quick to play backseat moderator. You are keeping this on the first page yourself, complaining about people complaining.

Microsoft is anything but an underdog :/

What kind of Kindergarten stuff is this? "MS is thanking them. When are they thanking MS?" Who gives a damn? Why do you care? These are companies and not two friends on a football field.
