Phil Spencer is hyping up the Microsoft E3 Conference.

30 minutes of Xbox Media: TV, TV, TV, MOVIES, MUSIC!
45 minutes of bullshots and unrepresentative game demos, including:
- 15 minutes of pure Kinect, Kinect, Kinect! drum banging.
- 10 minutes of Call of Duty and other timed exclusive DLC announcements.
and 15 minutes of required financial bluster.

There's my prediction.

Another person who is getting their reveal confused with their E3 conference.

It's a bit funny since Sony were the ones to show off media at their E3 conference but no one remembers that since they killed it with their price and no DRM announcements.

Phil Spencer probably should be excited. He's the last exec standing in the XBox division. Its basically his baby now. Sure he has bosses, but they're all busy with other pet projects, while his job is to focus on XBox.

The guys that didn't know what to do with their hands?

Did they really do any Kinect tech demos at last years? I seem to recall Kinect Sports Rivals was announced on gametrailers at the pre-show which was their only Kinect exclusive game
To be honest, I'd like to see more insanity-like stuff for kinect, it would nudge me to get an xbone. My memory is not the best by far, but I think that's the best effort so far to move kinect away from novelty mini games collections.

you clearly did not watch last year's E3

I'll follow games. So far it'd take a lot to keep me from getting the Wii U and PS4 over the X1 right now. Between Smash, Hyrule Warriors, X, and some good ol Nintendo first parties I see little chance that I wont get Wii U first (unless I snag a cheap PS3). PS4 is already showing strong signs of inheriting Dynasty Warriors, Kamen Rider Imports, and a lot of exclusives so its not quite ripe yet, but its faster approaching "buy" status than X1.

Also I hate the Kinect and all the tech limitations I've been reading on X1. It'll likely need a new model before I even consider it.

So :

Halo 5
HAlo 2 Remake
Quantum Break
Fable
Forza Horizon 2 ?
Sunset Overdrive
Price drop ?
Kinect stuff
Activision / EA Stuff

some of this thread is going to be flooded with those type of responses and negativity, I think they had an excellent E3, it was prior to that what you were referring to that massacred the outlook of Microsoft and pretty much drives those trollish retorts, hopefully after this E3 they kick it out of the park with games and other mind blowing stuff so we can move past that and focus on the games again, lol.

I'm not confused. Last year was simply an outlier because they had a lot of in development stuff they were trying to hype up for XBO sales that fall.

Go back and look at every other Microsoft E3 press conference. They all follow the same pattern I outlined above. Financial bluster. Games. Multimedia. If you think they're going to have more games to show this E3 than last, you're going to be disappointed. There's going to be a LOT of PR spin and a LOT of forward-looking statements that will cut into the media aspect of the presentation, just like years past.

Yeah but their e3 every year prior since about 2009 has been that. TV and kinect and awkward gifs for 90 minutes.

Halo 5 will only be teased at the end since its not out until 2015. I expect Microsoft to talk about ID@Xbox a little as well.

This sounds about right. A price drop or Kinect being dropped would be good news. Throw in an indie showcase, like Sony' last year (which I think they will do to show their commitment for indie developers and top it off with a new IP announcement somewhere.

Yeah, this seems believable.

Add all of that in with a preview of new features coming to the Xbox One in an update, a digital game buying plan, and a few new game reveals, and I think that'll pretty much be their E3 conference for this year.

People remember it fine, it's just that Sony never portrayed media and non-games as a core part of what PS4 was. In addition to price and DRM announcement Sony's E3 also had a ton of game partnerships, with every major publisher bar EA and 10 indie developers on stage.

Are you guys joking? Between the console announcement and E3 2013 Microsoft almost managed to kill the Xbox brand name.

The only thing wrong with their E3 2013 conference was not addressing the DRM issue. In terms of games and content, Microsoft had a very strong showing last year IMO.

Did you not watch last year? They brought game after game through the whole conference. It was their best one in years besides the price announcement and not talking about DRM until 2 weeks after E3.

Their strong E3 and then seeing that there were no disasters at launch is what ultimately won me over and made me want one.

to me personally (Not a big halo guy or forza) some of that does not get me to excited, I think I am more interested in the unknown and curious to see what microsoft does with it's back pinned against the wall...since it seems like microsoft against the wall is the best Microsoft? I am just hoping for one title announcement myself though which could make me 10000 percent happy with my purchase of it.

I'm a PS4 owner, but am more excited about microsofts E3 press conference. Obviously it seems like the Xbox one hasn't done as well as they initially hoped, not that it's doing bad, so I think they are more likely to pull out all the stops and go all in. Hopefully announce some major titles.

I'd take Fable out and move it to Gamescom instead.

And throw in a CGi trailer for Gears. Maybe even another new game.
I think they will at least tease gears, now that we know they are working on it and have a studio attached they should have at least a little something to show off.

Are people really excited about Halo 2 Anniversary? The multiplayer is good...but that campaign. No thanks on revisiting those boring opening levels, the boring indoor sections, the boring Arbiter levels. The needless cliffhanger ending. Breaking Benjamin? Barf.

People rightfully shit on it back in the day. Allow me to pay for Halo 2 multiplayer only and then you'll have my attention.

He said he doesn't consider last year as a rational expectation of MS... it was a new console launch year, and MS was definitely in some pressure to showcase its hand.

Seems like people want an HD version more so for the multiplayer.

Why is there a 90 minutes time limit?

It's a Mattrick rule. When he came in back in 2008, he said he wanted to streamline their pressers to 90 minutes because he thought their previous shows went too long. Now he's out, though, it may go a bit longer this year if albeit by ten minutes.

“Xbox One will surprise the world during E3… We are going to kill Sony at E3″

Didn't work last time. Announcements of Halo, Gears, Fable have no impact since they are all expected(pretty much announced already) and they are likely to show CGs rather than gameplay.

Is there any big MS studio working on something we already don't know?

Honestly this gets me more worried than anything, It would suck for the PS4 to lose franchises that are currently multiplataform an that is probably MS idea of providing content.

Quantum Break could be interesting, I hope it eventually makes its way to PC like Alan Wake.

Predicts MS will win with Shenmue 3 announcement.

Sonys VR tech looks like a flop to me
I wouldn't call it a flop but it's far from being ready to sell to consumers and there are way to many question marks. But I don't think Sony will make a big deal of it during E3, that's why they announced at gdc.

If they have a repeat of last years E3 I will be extremely pleased. Considering they've gotten past their launch I'm betting they'll have more to show that has been cooking for longer. Throw in some moneyhatted franchise that they bought and it'll probably make for a decent GAF thread.

i dont see what ms can surprise us with. we know what all their studios are working on pretty much and what they have announced or rumoured is hardly exciting. more halo/forza/gears, that insomanic game which will most likely be garbage given the studio track record and quantium break with all that bs tv stuff fluffed into it. meh

I'm pretty excited to see what's up with Black Tusk and Gears. I'm also banking on a top secret exclusive getting shown. E3 needs to get here asap.

I think what is most exciting is we have PS4/XBOX ONE while E3 is going on I wonder what kind of games/demos we will get during that process...or if we will get anything
really want to see how the each system ecosystem takes advantage of the event
