Phil Spencer is hyping up the Microsoft E3 Conference.

Lots of people are still people.

Hm. Why would they refuse exclusive content? (Since that was really the only thing that Sony has with Destiny over MS).

Because Destiny would compete with Halo and they wouldn't want Destiny sharing the same stage as 343. If Microsoft could control the release calendar, things may have been different.

At least that's the way I see it.

It's way more than just exclusive content, It's the marketing.

Anyway the most likely reason is MS had spent big money with EA deals (Titanfall, FIFA, PVZ..) and wasn't ready to spend more money with another deal with Activsion.

And also Battlefield.

I'd like to see Satya Nadella at E3. He seems more down to earth than Ballmer and Mattrick and he's definitely more technologically minded than they ever were. His appearance would also help quiet fears that MS is looking into getting rid of Xbox. An announcement of Stephen Elop's departure would be nice too. Aside from that, just announce some new first party IPs and or acquisitions of long time development partners (i.e. Remedy) and I'll be satisfied. If H2A and FH2 pan out then they'll have a good lineup for the Fall. Assuming that QB and SO release in Q4 as well.

lol

I don't think money factors into it as much as having a diverse line-up of exclusive games and exclusive DLC. Halo and Destiny are two shooters in the same vein but Microsoft owns one of the two franchises.

Elop departure ? He was only appointed a couple of months ago ?

So their part of the bargain might have been too much for (timed, right?) exclusive DLC, you're saying? I can see that, espcially with all the EA stuff they had already.

I'd rather have someone who wasn't rumored to be looking into selling off Xbox be in charge of MS hardware. His time at Nokia doesn't fill me with confidence either. Someone like Jack Tretton would easily be a better fit than Elop.

Phil, just announce the return of family sharing. Make it limited to digital games to get around that disk-based 24-hour check in DRM fiasco. People go on about the PS instant games collection, imagine getting the same thing but for current XB1 games between you and your friends.

It will be interesting to see how the E3 line-up compares to the (possibly controlled?) leak by ntkrnl. Maybe MS scrambled to get a bunch of different stuff in their presentation to negate the leak?

Doing it ala steam for digital games only would be a great thing, imo. I mean, if you want people to buy digital games, then do awesome things like that (like family sharing) that are really best suited for digital games. Don't artificially add things that you cut from normal physically-distritbuted games, just play to the strengths that really only digital can practically allow.

I wouldn't use the word "scrambled" but it's possible they might have made a slight change of plans to quietly kill a bit of the enthusisasm about ntkrnl.

If its limited to digital will the 24 hour drm be there? I hope not,i am digital only but dont want that type of drm.

As an eventual tri-console owner, I always look forward to E3 to see what I'll be playing. As the One was my first console this gen (thanks to Titanfall) I'm looking forward to MS' E3 to see what I'll be playing soon and for Sunset Overdrive/Quantum information.

A long list of games sounds good to me.

The cynic in me says that if sales for the Xbox One were better (compared to PS4), they'd spend more time on those figures, but no loss to me personally that they likely wont. Just show me games.

This is where we have reached an impasse with this argument. It's true that Sony did attempt to get away with quite a few things, and the arrogant PR did not help. What's interesting is that Microsoft attempted to do the exact same thing, with the exact same "You don't like it? Fuck you, give us money" PR, and they didn't have nearly as much of a stranglehold that Sony had during the PS2 era. If the PS4 had complete domination over this gen, would Sony repeat their same mistakes they had with the PS3?

When did they ever had this stance? From the beginning they said they would listen to the community, even when they were defending their drm.

The characterisations of these giant multinational corporations is a little saddening. To think these companies feel "betrayed" and that they counter with something else because "Sony hurt our feelings" is ridiculous.

Also, I love how Insomniac now suddenly is viewed as this amazing developer.

Those who lead these companies are humans. They can feel betrayed because they gave Bungie their freedom.

And apparently some people liked Resistance. I'm not one of those, but Sunset Overdrive looks interesting as a concept. Hopefully it will deliver on it.

It will probably be something like
Sales
TV TV TV...
Kinect Kinect...
Faked stage demo
TV TV TV...
Casuals...
TV TV Kinect..... Kinect...
Game montage.
Wow, how is this shit allowed?

Anyways I expect plenty of surprised this year and my mind to be blown by QB.

If any changes to their E3 plans have been made (and that's probable if the leak was genuine), they haven't been made because they want to kill the enthusiasm for ntkrnl, but because they still want to be able to surprise people. Indeed, some time after the whole incident, Spencer said on Twitter that they would have many announcements at E3, both expected and unexpected.
