He's right. I hope the xbox pc version allows mods though....this is where it gets tricky...or they need to enable cross save between steam and xbox editions of games.
Publishers and developers have been saying that for years. They need to 10-20-30-40 million copy sellers that only console casuals provide more often than not.Because it's pure bullshit
PC version is the superior one since it isn't locked to 30fps.
Why? Why does that audience DESERVE Xbox games on day one?
Because windows and subscriptions that's why.
And what makes me laugh about this is the fact that the people cheering him on for saying this are the ones getting shafted the most due to their lack of focus on optimising their games for their consoles. 30fps, missing features, multiplatform games performing better on competing (and supposedly "inferior") hardware.
You couldn't make it up. Stockholm syndrome encapsulated.
Phil is back to framing this decision as a choice.
Microsoft's submissions to regulators demonstrate that XBOX dropping games on PC day 1, is actually a necessity.
By this logic, Nintendo shouldn't have abandoned Sony's disc based add-on, which made Sony enter the market and make PS1 & subsequently PS2 and called it a computer. If Sony didn't call the PS2 a computer, MS wouldn't have made a console.
And MS has been making PC games as long as windows has existed.
Like Star Citizen don't exist? Or Star Wars the Old Republic?Without consoles, there would no longer be high production value AAA games, not on PC, not anywhere. That's a fact.
See my edit. Scam Citizen, when is that release date?Like Star Citizen don't exist? Or Star Wars the Old Republic?
- Having access day 1 to cross-buy and cross-play with a single subscription or purchase, having PC versions which actually use the more powerful hardware: badBecause windows and subscriptions that's why.

Releasing games is not fake.
His character is. His whole persona is fake. You know what I mean
we the good guys bs while they are buying everyone out and actively also taking games away from ps5 like starfield
If Sony can catch PC gamers later, those who won't buy their consoles regardless, why cater to them right away? Build up some anticipation for those older games and catch the pc crowd later. The heat doesn't seem to dissipate because pc gamers have to wait.
As much we like to believe Microsoft are our friends and do Gamepass and day one PC because they love thier customers, its because they can afford to, they can lose tremendous amounts of money and not lose sleep at night.
I don't think anything MS does is sustainable outside the Microsoft bubble. And yet where has it gotten them? Still in third place. I say this as an owner of an S and an X and subbed to Gamepass for a few more years.
I thought Horizon and God of War did decent numbers? Could be wrong though. Of course they are older titles, so one can't expect initial launch numbers, but good enough for games that are basically developed and ported over for the most part. The heat has dissipated, all data and evidence points to that. Their pc sales are no where near where they should be for the perceived quality of their games.
Publishers and developers have been saying that for years. They need to 10-20-30-40 million copy sellers that only console casuals provide more often than not.
Why do you think there are no longer your "Crysis" games on the PC? No longer high production value AAA exclusives? Outside of Scam Citizen, you won't get that ever again.
They are still the most AAA games ever with the highest budgets. You talk like if there were not consoles anymore in existence, no one would play on PC and make AAA games there.See my edit. Scam Citizen, when is that release date?
I played Old Republic, an MMO of the age that had to go to a F2P model to stay relevant.
Where is your plethora of exclusives that consoles push and are the vehicle for? *crickets*
- Having access day 1 to cross-buy and cross-play with a single subscription or purchase, having PC versions which actually use the more powerful hardware: bad
- Having to wait years and being asked to buy full price a game you already own if you want to play a better version: good
Who's having Stockholm syndrome?
Consoles are weaker than high-end PCs, it's a fact. You either maintain parity and cripple the PC version or you make the most out of each platform.
Publishers and developers have been saying that for years. They need to 10-20-30-40 million copy sellers that only console casuals provide more often than not.

Funny rhat you mention TW3. Since CDPR had this to say around it's launch.Witcher 3 PC outsold every platforms
So you remove plastic box tomorrow, devs are simply stopping to be competitive and try to get your money? Cinematic games over?
Doesn't make sense.
Supply and demand will still make sure they exist, regardless of the box. PC centric devs are publishing on consoles because they want the widest net for money, same applies in the opposite direction, staying console exclusive is a brainlet move. Even Sony is seeing the trend of PC sales, the pressure for day 1 will only raise up. Investors will force their hand.
If you think the budget rivals any of the top AAA high production value games, then I don't know what to tell you. What do you suppose the budget is for Valorant? Civ VI? Total War? Are they low budget because there's no setpieces, skill trees, and slow walk + chats?
Like it or not, and whether you use it or not, offering those is customer-friendly and the right approach, way more than asking people to pay full price again.I don't give a shit about cross buy and cross play. Why should I when he's giving me zero reason to own an Xbox (in fact, he's only making Xbox one of the lesser attractive options within their ecosystem).
They hate him cause they ain't him.The man can literally not say anything without being criticized by at least some gaffers.

Witcher 3 made possible thanks to the consoles
Development would have been scaled down if Wild Hunt was PC only.www.gamereactor.eu

Fantastic sim games, yes, but not in the same realm as most AAA games.
Don't blame me. Tweet and argue with CDPR, they're the one's who said it. Activision, UbiSoft, EA, etc., all went in record in the past saying the same things as well. Your passive aggressive feelings should be taken up with them, not I.Yea dude, check out this low budget indie game.

Riot is absolutely massive and generating a shit load of revenue constantly. Why is Valorant not on consoles if it's necessary to make money on your game? It's an FPS after all, should work fine on controllers.
Or WoW. I would not be surprised if the budget for WoW and all expansions already easily surpassed 1 Billion. What do you suppose the budget is for Valorant? Civ VI? Total War? Are they low budget because there's no setpieces, skill trees, and slow walk + chats?

WoW is a product of it's time. Why isn't there any new WoW games? Every other PC only MMO since is F2P.Or WoW. I would not be surprised if the budget for WoW and all expansions already easily surpassed 1 Billion.
You are also choosing to leave out "high production value AAA, not just budget." And yes, those budgets still pale compared to most high production AAA games. They are not your $150-$200m+ budgets like the console space affords these teams.I'm addressing what you said, not CDPR who was marketing their game prerelease. "There are no big budget PC exclusives."
Maybe they have different business models, and different visions for their company? Crazy, right?Man, its almost like Sony values their console hardware and would like to give people a reason to buy it. Crazy trying to sell consoles as a console manufacturer.
There is. FFXIV, and it's WoW almost ctrl+c ctrl+v.WoW is a product of it's time. Why isn't there any new WoW games? Every other PC only MMO since is F2P.
I wonder why that is? Stop hanging onto the 10+ year old past. I provided a once top PC only developer saying that TW3 would not exist in it's current state and would have had to have been scaled way back if they did not have consoles to market and sell to. Take it up with them, not your "stuck in the past" feelings.
I thought Horizon and God of War did decent numbers? Could be wrong though. Of course they are older titles, so one can't expect initial launch numbers, but good enough for games that are basically developed and ported over for the most part.
PC exclusive is it? No, not it is not. There is. FFXIV, and it's WoW almost ctrl+c ctrl+v.
And TW3 would not exist in it's current state indead. It would exist without all the downgrades.
Like it or not, and whether you use it or not, offering those is customer-friendly and the right approach, way more than asking people to pay full price again.
There's nothing to argue here honestly.
The word deserve was, in my opinion, intended to cast shade at Sony. MS has never shied away from console war fodder. And it was a poor choice of words due to timing of the confirmation of much better features on the PC versions of Forza and Starfield. In conjunction, it's easy to say even MS agrees that the less you spend on their actual hardware, the more you deserve from them. Why? Why does that audience DESERVE Xbox games on day one?
Well Last of Us was a disaster buts that par the course nowadays for pc.Their biggest ip like last of us remaster have not set the world on fire.
I wouldn't be surprised if games like grounded had outsold sonys first party AAA blockbusters on steam.
Microsoft brings games to pc day one and they sell shit tons...not gamepass...sales. chungus amounts.
Whatever developers's PR says to sell their fish, doesn't make a world without consoles without AAA games anymore and everyone migrating to PC.PC exclusive is it? No, not it is not.
Wrong. It's almost like you ignore the developers and only go with your feelings.
WoW is a product of it's time. Why isn't there any new WoW games? Every other PC only MMO since is F2P.

There is far less risk in the PC exclusive space with massive budgets in current year. They are an anomaly compared to the console space with PC ports.
You know you're out of arguments when you have to use Redfall somehow, like there's never been a bad first party game in Sony's lineup ever. There's that "consumer friendly" crap again. Honestly I don't think any of you who tout it know what it really means.
Wonderful company, they've really got all the dedicated xbox gamers backs, they truly are doing the most for them. Fantastic reward for those who are most invested in the ecosystem and even fork over montky subscription fees for the pleasure of gaming online.
- Cross-buy and cross save features are only available via the windows store, even if you only play the game via Gamepass. The people who purchase the game via Steam don't get access to these headline (headline by your own admission, not mine) features. VeRy CoNsUmEr FrIeNdLy, especially towards the majority of people who will purchase their games on PC.
- They marketed their console as if it was the second coming - feel true power, all the teraflops, all the ray tracing, 60 fps will be the output, etc etc etc. The reality - even their own first party games perform better on other consoles, their console customers are stuck with 30fps for their flagship games and PC gamers get a suite of extra graphics features not available on console. All of that on day one. Again, VeRy CoNsUmEr FrIeNdLy.
- Xbox live gold is there for the console bros but not for PC gamers even though everyone is playing the same games on the same servers. VeRy CoNsUmEr FrIeNdLy.
- And finally, they were happy to release Redfall in the state it was in and charge upwards of $70 for it. VeRy CoNsUmEr FrIeNdLy.
Why do you think there are no longer your "Crysis" games on the PC? No longer high production value AAA exclusives? Outside of Scam Citizen, you won't get that ever again.
Whatever makes you sleep better at night.Whatever developers's PR says to sell their fish, doesn't make a world without consoles without AAA games anymore and everyone migrating to PC.
All Sony PC ports have higher settings and frame rates than their console equivalents, does it detract from the console version? Does it prove there was somehow less effort put in it? Of course not. No one would make such a nonsensical argument?
Maybe they have different business models, and different visions for their company? Crazy, right?
Maybe seeing PC players as not some 3rd rate peasants isn't so fucking bad? What's the problem here? You work for Xbox? You're not pleased with the console sale numbers? They're affecting you, in some way? You want them to treat PC players the way Sony does, because it might allow then to sell more consoles, and as a console salesman yourself, you'll now be able to buy that yacht you've always wanted?
Or do what Sony is currently doing.I mean if you are putting your games on PC, might as well put it day1.
If you really value your system, don't put the game on PC.
I just see right through him… I don't have to explain why I am not a fan of the car salesman who says he loves gamers but acts to hurt the industry…. Gp, killing of physical, buying companies and some more. All hides behind that smirk.Maybe this is all a reflection of what you see of yourself in the mirror. You can't fake being a human being..the guy is just talking...he is not the one person who makes every single business decision for Microsoft...he is one guy.
How is Microsoft or Phil the bad guy here for making such an obvious statement. PC should never be treated as a second class citizen and Sony will wake up soon when their pc sales remain in the toilet.
Starfield is going to do gangbusters this year and that's with gamepass.
All this, Phil is evil and fake etc...yet all he has done as lead a section of a business that's made decisions to make their brand stronger...this isn't some personal Sunday league football it's big business with people that do seem half decent doing their thing in the constraints of what they have.
Life's too short to legit hate someone who you don't know because of your own personal depiction of who they are in your mind.
