Phil Spencer Responds to Win10 event comments on twitter

Hopefully a wireless adapter for XB1 controllers on PC is close, at least they know it's wanted.

Keep pushing you? Get ready to add this to the list bullshit about PC Gaming by MS. That tweet reads like a bunch of horse shit. And we have to go further than GFWL? Fuck off we dont need another bullshit MS platform.

This could just as easily be interpreted as needing to do a much better job at appealing to the PC gaming market than GFWL. Some of y'all would blow anything out of proportion.

Seriously. No matter how straight forward or seemingly innocent, it seems there's literally nothing Microsoft can say without it being twisted into something ridiculous.

You can maybe take that away if you view it in a vacuum, completely ignoring everything Phil has said regarding Microsoft and PC gaming, but when viewing it in context? It's pretty clear he means they simply need to do a better job.

The direction MS is moving in is generally very good. I have no idea how some folk are turning this into a negative, I guess there is no pleasing some people.

I know ms has done some questionable choices in the past but some of these negative gaf replies are just retarded.

This was a bit disappointing but i'm pretty sure there is a workaround. You can already emulate xinput with any controller for example.

Did you actually use GFWL though? I mean that thing's responsible for me being completely unable to access a reasonable amount of games I paid for, which is pretty much as unacceptable as it gets. It would be entirely hit or miss whether or not I could play the game I wanted to. Hell I couldn't even get on DR2: Off The Record when I bought it. I ended up forgetting about it for a month or two. And to top it off they were pretty much all games that I'd purchased on a whim through Steam without noticing they were also tied to GFWL.

I won't pretend they aren't taking steps in the right direction, but people have a reason to be hesitant of anything like GFWL again.

If you view Phils comments based on the history of Microsoft and PC gaming (as most here are) then yes it will be received negatively. Microsofts history on PC gaming has been either "lip service" or "royally fucking things up with shit like GFWL". That is the context people are viewing Phil's tweets. It is only natural people are going to perceive his statements in a negative way because that is all we have ever received from Microsoft.

Now there is a claim that this is "new" Microsoft and things will be better this time. So far we have seen sweet fuck all in the way of action and it has just been more "blah blah blah stay tuned for more blah blah blah". Perhaps Microsoft have changed and things will be better this time, but till that happens I am going to trust my past history of Microsoft and expect the worst.

Keep pushing us... that means we need to push them to do their own job. There is no other way to interpret it.

Come on...
What? PC gamers were told to watch the Win10 Conference and all we got was shit for Xbox Gamers and Fable Legends :S. I have no doubt they will further disappoint. They have an under-performing console, everything they do for PC is going to have to compliment the Xbox in some way, Im not interested.

I get the GFWL hate, it was poor and for good reasons too. It got terrible funding, shitty support and the software was woefully inadequate. The leadership was utter trash at the time too.

I agree, I highly doubt MS will hand over Fable sales to another distributor with hooks attached.

If they do implement something along those line, but integrate it into the W10 store, bake in features like game DVR, Achievements, Social Feeds etc ie make it feature rich and worthwhile. It could be a top platform.

The issue is Xbox for PC will always be second to Xbox for Console. GFWL Proved this and it showed its the most fucking woeful ways.

I get MS has been totally fubar on the PC gaming front. That kind of systematic approach of shitting on PC gamers for years breeds you very little rope.

That being said I can't help but feel Phil is in a damned if you do damned if you don't approach here. He gets shit if he doesn't say anything, but I gotta be honest I'm not really sure what he can say that would satisfy PC gamers. I say this as someone who's been PC gaming since the late 80s.

The scars and paranoia of GFWL runs deep... goodness some of you are still hurt and scared.

Can you blame them? PC gaming still feels the effects of GFWL to this day. Several games are dead because their dev never bothered to strip it out.

There is no "damned if you do, damned if you don't", since nobody will blame or hate Phil if they actually announce games. For years all MS has done for PC gaming is simple lip service and "we promise it'll be better". Phil is damned if he spews more lip service and damned if he doesn't, but he WON'T be damned if he actually announces games and shows, not tell.

I don't have an xbox and don't really care about it. But Phil Spencer is answering twitter questions all the time ... Does this guy ever sleep or have free time? He is like a walking XBox Robot. But I think it's nice to see that he takes time for it. Not a normal thing. My respect for that.

I don't blame them at ALL. They should be hurt/pissed off by it. I'm just amazed by how deep it runs.

After that event, I have my lack of faith in their support of PC gaming renewed. Don't know why I let them get me excited about stuff. Somehow I'm always surprised. the tweets are ultimately meaningless. I'll believe that we'll see more PC centric support when I actually see the games next time. Man... Not even PC to Xbox streaming... What a huge bummer that event was.

I get the feeling PC gamers are going to ultimately be pissed off, because in order for PC gamers to be 100% happy, Microsoft would have to completely undercut the Xbox platform. It's simply not going to happen. They're going to more closely integrate the Xbox and PC platforms in terms of software and ecosystem (Software easily deployable between both platforms, XB1 to PC streaming and in the future, PC to XB1 streaming) . They're going to have cross platform releases of games that make sense. And they're going to develop PC centric titles when appropriate, as evident by the recent announcement of a new RTS development studio).

If you're expecting them to port over every XB1 exclusive, and develop a plethora of titles exclusively for the PC platform - then you're never going to be pleased because they're not going to undercut the Xbox platform in such a ridiculous fashion. As someone who is both a PC gamer and a console gamer, I'm 100% happy with the direction that they're going.

I didn't even think of this until now but does this whole crossplay thing potentially mean I could join my friends party chats and game sessions from my PC while they're on XBO? They were trying to get me to buy one to play with them but if MS does a good job here, I guess that won't be necessary.

Yikes, that GFWL comment, that's the service that shall not be named.

If you're not gonna put the games on Steam, then just put them on the Windows Store.

me to i actually think no matter what MS is going to do there is going to be a group that will be pissed no matter what, so they should just do what they do and move forward no matter what someone is going to be angry with them it appears.

I am not expecting them to do that. I know they won't do that not whilst the Xbone exists. I know they will use every opportunity to "big up" the Xbone for gaming at the PC's expense. I keep saying that and people keep telling me to "not be so pessimistic" or "give Microsoft a chance they have changed".

Now you are 100% happy with what Microsoft are doing and that is fine I am not going to criticise you for that if you are happy. I am 100% a PC gamer I do not game on any other platform, I will never own a PS4 nor will I ever own an Xbone so as you can imagine the shit Microsoft are blabbering on about right now doesn't exactly thrill me to bits. So yeah I am gonna call Microsoft out on their bullshit, I am gonna criticise them for still trying to undermine PC gaming to get us to game on their Xbone.

To be fair I can't even think of a single Xbone title I want on the PC anyway. In an ideal world I would love if Microsoft got behind PC gaming with the same enthusiasm they chuck at the Xbone. But I know that won't happen, so I would be just as happy if Microsoft did ONE single thing and that is get out of the PC's way. If a developer wants to make their game for the Xbone and the PC then let them. Stop trying to add value to the Xbone by removing value from the PC.

Can Microsoft manage to please both PC and Xbox owners at the GDC ?

Probably not.

The way I see a lot of PC only gamers respond is that they won't be satisfied until Microsoft just releases all their exclusives on PC, which they obviously aren't gonna do at least for a while. If they did that they'd basically be waving the white flag and abandoning the XBOne.

I think it'd be more interesting if they released a Steam competitor and incorporated Games for Gold deals since it seems like something they could do.

As someone who owns all 3 consoles and a gaming PC they're going in a great direction. Though their streaming to PC thing doesn't benefit me because my XBOne is literally on a monitor next to my PC main monitor.

Lot of potential lost there, if the Xbox One had keyboard and mouse support for some games, that could really open the Xbox One to more MOBAS, RTS, and MMO games. It would be something that would give them a leg up over the losing race with Sony.

Why would you think they would allow kb+mouse controls? It would completely imbalance MP games.

Make it so it's only available for certain games?

I have a lot of gfwl games on disc mainly because the local pc store couldn't sell and gave them to when I got a part. The was so many issues getting them to run.

Ms has been spitting out we care about pc gaming for the 7 years, so for pc gamers it hard to take anything seriously. Also ,

The bigger question with fable legends is ui/ux going to be redesigned for a mouse and keyboard or is going port of xbone ux
