Phoenix Wright has perfect touch screen controls

This is really the only series I can play that doesn't feel like it requires a controller. Are there any other mobile games out there that that don't have you blocking important parts of the screen with your hands, don't feel like they'd be better with a controller and don't feel like a mini-game? I think if this were a genre with lots of similar examples out there a lot more of us would like mobile gaming.

Is there really such a thing as "perfect touchscreen controls"?

If I have to be moving my whole finger about, I might as well be using kinect.

Your statement is funny considering the original games were first released on the Gameboy Advance in Japan.

Off to a great start with worst first post in 2014 I'd say.

You've seen the best the DS family has to offer on touch controls that don't block your view OP.

You should try more DS/3DS games , EBA , Ghosttrick , Layton etc are all perfect with only touch screen controls.

Ghosttrick is also good on IOS too.

Which version are you talking about? iOS? DS?
Actually i've only played them on DS and on android with a DS emulator. Most DS games i played used the dpad and buttons more than the touch screen, i haven't really found any other games i've liked that only use the touch screen.

Why's that?

Because:

I can't recommend the iOS version to anyone. It's simply too much of a downgrade from the DS releases. The only improvements are the visuals and pricing, but other than that it's worse in about everything else.

-Missing animation frames (no blinking, sometimes people don't open their mouths when talking or are missing one of their talking frames, etc.).
-Sometimes a character does the wrong animation entirely.
-GBA-quality soundtrack for the 2nd & 3rd games (this should be a dealbreaker to you; you must hear the amazing soundtrack this series offers in the best quality possible).
-Pearl's theme is gone.
-More typos.
-Overall performance is worse. Some parts lag for no particular reason.
-Worse presentation, such as the user interface popping in and out every time someone talks.
-Sound effects are off. The "not guilty" cheer is cut-off halfway through, for example.

I wholly recommend getting the DS versions of the games instead, unless money is a real issue for you.

Kirby Canvas Curse is the greatest touch screen game ever created.

There is nothing better.

Final Fantasy Tactics

It's not perfect, but it's close.

There is nothing better.

I bought this and Meteos at the same time, and they basically share responsibility for selling me on the benefits of touch screens for games.

The minigames in Super Mario 64 were fun, but they weren't exactly substantial.

Funny you mention that, because more than once while playing Dual Destinies I inadvertently selected an area before I was finished moving. It got to the point that when I was presenting an area of a photograph in court, I actually had to resort to the circle pad. Did it diminish from the overall game experience? No. But were the touch controls perfect? Sadly, also no.

I had always thought this would happen to me, but it never did. Still, I could easily see it happening.
