Photos of the PS5 Shell

That photo you posted from era was based on D4 paper, I don't know how paper works but on reddit people are saying it's probably A4 paper.

I personally don't know, but it's worth posting both, the other one has bigger numbers to be fair. But we should look at both references

If that's a standard sheet of office paper (8.5x11") it gives a good idea of the size of the panels. Should be right around 13" tall, give or take for perspective correction.

too long, thats 8.5x14 legal

PS5 console size:

What page size did that person use? Because if it's an A4 paper sheet, then the diameter of it is 363mm, not 320.

Did my own calculations based on that image. It's 40cm, making the assumption that the piece of paper is A4.

The plastic in the last shot looks thicc.

I wonder where most of the 4 pounds extra over the PS4 are coming from, hopefully largely the cooling system.

I did some lunchtime phone math on my phone. Whatcha think?

If it really is A4 like this photo above, Google says

402 mm = 15.8 inches
310 mm = 12.2 inches

based on previous measurement attempts

Play-Station-5-Comparison.png

Which inferred the height to be 38 cm instead of this 40 cm, pretty close!

let's just say for sake of argument that all measurements across both variables use their nearest super round number

That still means
40 x 30 x 10 cm
15.75 x 12 x 4 inches

The implications of a unit with volume of that scale are pretty nuts

12000 cubic cm
756 cubic inches

versus XSX 432 cubic inches and 6750 cubic cm.

This is a large device in terms of mass

and what we do with this info ? make better or worse games ... doesnt matter what size it is rly. Just make it silent

Based on, what I assume, is a standard 8.5x11 sheet of paper... actually doesn't seem that large 🤔 but still can't really tell, I'll need to see it in person to actually see how large it is.
I did all the math in a few posts above fwiw

They are just fun experiments and information findings based on what we have, trying to piece together a puzzle. Nobody is trying to say it won't have good games I don't even know why you'd need to bring that up?

I have an IKEA tv stand (BESTA) which, I believe, is slightly less than 41cm. In theory this should fit but ventilation becomes a concern :messenger_confused:

so its internet so it must be truth ? i dont think so

What are you even referring to?

Are you trying to say the factory photos are fake? The measurements are fake?

I mean, believe what you want. But the most pointless posts in existence are coming into threads just to say (this is pointless) just don't post in here if you don't care... ?

Translation: Huge Chonky Boi

That's a yuuuuuge bitch.

I'm curious to see what's inside to justify the size. Probably a humongous cooling unit.

But hey, I'll take a bigger console that's quieter: that's a trade-off that's worth it.

My ps4 pro in vertical mode has about 5 inches of clearance under my tv shelf. Assuming the ps5 will also fit in vertical mode, should I be worried about cooling? The PS5 looks about 3 inches taller than the PS4 pro.
Are the official dimensions still a state secret? WTH

Chonk boi will look lovely next to my Sonos Arc and C9. Just sell me one already Sony you cowards.

More interested in knowing the quality of the plastic.... also no circle, square, X, triangle engraving that I can see. On the reveal there was...

Don't care as long as it's quiet and can fit in reasonably close to other things.

Mine sits on a fireplace mantle behind the TV so it will be hidden regardless. Pretty sure I got enough room for this thing.

Still don't fit in Ikea malm shelving unit

Who cares how big it is - are you moving your Playstation 10 times a day?

I will take it out of the box, put it in my TV Stand and not touch it again for years outside of the occasional wipe down and dusting.

Not sure how anyone arrives at 400+cm. I got 345cm, and other got 355cm. That's assuming it's A4 paper, which I'm not even sure about, as I don't know if China uses A4, and it doesn't quite look like A4 to me. But 400cm seems to be a crazy outlier measurement.
