Pics of RL models/sculptures made for Doom 64 enemies

Greg Punchatz who did art for Midway's Doom 64 has shared these cool images of the models used for the completely redone graphics in the game. It's unclear whether the sprites were actually based on these models or just CG renders. There's also a couple of extra enemies which did not make it into the final game.

And yes, Greg is related to the late Don Ivan Punchatz, who created the iconic box/title screen artwork for the original Doom.

Reminding me of how superb the DOOM 64 redesigns of the enemies were, compared to the mixed bag of DOOM 3.

That's some amazing work. It's pretty good that this game is finally getting the attention it deserves; when it launched I imagine many people glanced at the box and assumed it was a late Doom port.
